A.P. Ministers ensure government's commitment to education, welfare
The State government is giving top priority to the education sector and will bring several reforms, said Social Welfare Minister Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy while taking part in the Mega Parents-Teacher Meeting (PTM) 2.0, at Kasturba Gandhi Girls High School in K. Bitrigunta village of Jarugumalli mandal in Prakasam district, on Thursday. 'As part of the reforms, PTM 2.0 meetings have been held in all government and private schools, as well as junior colleges across the State,' he said, appreciating Education Minister Nara Lokesh for initiating revolutionary changes in the education sector. He said that Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu aspires that poor students rise to a higher level in their life. Mr. Veeranjaneya Swamy said, 'In collaboration with Narayana Educational Institutions, the government has taken steps to provide free IIT and NEET long-term coaching to meritorious students of gurukuls and welfare hostels, at 10 centres across the State. Of them, 65 students have achieved seats in IIT and 50 in NEET last year.' In another PTM event held at ZP High School in Medarametla village of Korisapadu mandal, Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar distributed 452 bicycles to the students. The initiative, supported by Assist NGO and CSR funds, aimed to ease the daily commute of students and encourage them to attend regularly. Speaking at the event, he reiterated the government's unwavering commitment to education and welfare. Applauding the reforms spearheaded by Mr. Lokesh, he said, 'A strong education system is the foundation of a prosperous society.' He also praised the Chief Minister's vision in prioritising student welfare. He announced the expansion of the 'Talliki Vandanam' scheme to benefit 67 lakh mothers. Despite economic constraints, Mr. Ravi Kumar assured that the coalition government is firmly committed to welfare. He noted that upcoming initiatives, including free bus travel for women and 'Annadatha Sukhibhava', will be launched soon. After inspecting the school premises, he also promised the construction of additional washrooms for both boys and girls at the school.

Andhra government aims for Guinness record with Mega PTM 2.0
VIJAYAWADA: The School Education Department is gearing up to organise Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) 2.0 on July 10, continuing the momentum from last year's historic gathering and aims to set a new Guinness World Record. Director of the Comprehensive Education State Project, B Srinivasa Rao, said in a statement that the State is aiming to bring together over 2.28 crore participants for this year's Mega PTM, surpassing the massive turnout of over one crore attendees recorded on December 7, 2023. 'The initiative is not just a PTM, but a festival of learning involving students, parents, teachers, alumni, School Management Committees (SMCs), donors, and public representatives,' Rao noted. In line with the Guinness World Records requirements, Rao clarified that each participating school must register a non-governmental witness to authenticate the event's legitimacy. These witnesses could be village sarpanches, MPTC members, retired government employees, local donors, former students, or any other individuals from within the school. The witness registration is to be completed exclusively on the LEAP app, and it is mandatory for schools aspiring to be part of the Guinness record entry. 'The witness should not be a government employee, and this process is only for verification purposes, with no other motive,' Rao said. 'The success of this initiative lies in teamwork. Teachers, education officials, and the public must join hands to make this spiritual gathering of education a milestone,' he said.
