Pacers acquire No. 38 pick in NBA Draft from Spurs

After trading their first-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft last week, the Pacers have traded back into the draft to acquire another second-round pick. Just before the start of the draft Wednesday evening, the Pacers acquired the No. 38 overall pick in the draft from the Spurs in exchange for a second round pick in the 2030 draft and cash considerations, league sources confirmed to the IndyStar. The 2030 pick comes from the Kings, acquired in 2023 when the Pacers sent guard Chris Duarte to Sacramento. Advertisement ESPN's Shams Charania reported the deal first. The Pacers now have the No. 38 and 54 picks in the draft. They traded the No. 23 pick last week to the New Orleans Pelicans last week to re-acquire their 2026 first-round pick. They originally traded that pick to Toronto in the trade that brought Pascal Siakam to Indiana. The Raptors traded that pick to the Pelicans as part of a trade for Brandon Ingram. The deal could allow the Pacers to add some depth as they look to recover from the Achilles tendon tear suffered by All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton in their Game 7 loss to the Thunder in the NBA Finals. Haliburton is expected to miss all or most of next season. The move also helps the Pacers save some salary as they could surpass the luxury tax threshold if they re-sign center Myles Turner. The No. 38 pick is slotted to make approximately $2 million less than the No. 23 pick. The second round begins at 8 p.m. Thursday. Re-signing Myles Turner is still 'No. 1 priority' for Pacers offseason, Rick Carlisle says
If you buy something through a link in this article, we may earn commission. Pricing and availability are subject to change. INDIANAPOLIS – Re-signing veteran center Myles Turner remains a top priority for the Indiana Pacers in the offseason despite the Achilles tendon tear suffered by All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton, Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said on his weekly radio interview with 107.5 The Fan Tuesday morning. Turner, whose two-year contract could not be extended by league rule, will have his contract formally expire when the league calendar flips over at 6 p.m. on June 30. However, the Pacers can begin negotiating with him now that the NBA Finals are over. Reports have long indicated the Pacers intended to re-sign Turner and would be willing to go into the luxury tax to do so, but Haliburton's injury — which Carlisle acknowledged will likely keep him out all of the 2025-26 season — raised questions about whether the Pacers would want to re-consider that plan. Advertisement Carlisle, however, indicated it would not change the Pacers' approach and it would be the most important potential move of the offseason. Doyel: Pacers could taste title. We're all sick to our stomachs for what's next "I don't think it's any secret that the franchise, at this particular moment, that that is the No. 1 priority," Carlisle said. "I don't know anything about money or numbers or years, or any of that kind of stuff, but Myles is a very important part of what we've done here, what we've been doing. He's a very important part of the history of the franchise, certainly over the last decade. I know that will be a big topic. I'm not privy to every little conversation going on there, but Myles is a very important part of what we're doing. That will be a big thing." Turner just finished his 10th season with the Pacers and is the longest-tenured player on the team. He leads the franchise in blocks with 1,412 for his career. He averaged 15.6 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game this season with his 144 total blocks ranking third in the NBA. He made a career-best 39.6% of his 3-point shots with a career high 156 3-pointers. He struggled in the Pacers' NBA Finals loss to the Thunder but averaged 13.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per game in the playoffs and his 46 total blocks were the most of any player in the playoffs. Advertisement If Turner re-signs, the Pacers would have all five of their playoff starters signed through at least the 2026-27 season. Pacers pick up Tony Bradley's option, potentially providing needed frontcourt depth
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Pacers have picked up their $2.94 million team option on the contract of center Tony Bradley, a league source confirmed to the Indy Star on Sunday. Michel Scotto of HoopsHype reported it first. The Pacers signed Bradley in March to fill a hole at center. He signed two 10-day contracts before signing a deal that kept him on the roster through the rest of the season for over $300,000 with a club option for this season. Keeping Bradley gives them some center depth if they decide to keep him, but they could also trade him later or release him with no penalty. Advertisement Pacers free agency, trade rumors: Latest with Myles Turner, Bennedict Mathurin? Bradley appeared in 14 games in the regular season for the Pacers and averaged 4.4 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. He appeared in 11 playoff games and averaged 1.9 rebounds per game but was effective in both the series against the Knicks and the Thunder dealing with powerful big men Mitchell Robinson and Isaiah Hartenstein. Bradley was a first-round pick in the 2017 draft after helping North Carolina win the national championship that year. He spent time with the Jazz, 76ers, Thunder and Bulls before the Bulls waived. him in February of 2023. He spent the next two years in the G League before the Pacers signed him. The Pacers still have several decisions to make at center. Starter Myles Turner is a free agent. Coach Rick Carlisle said re-signing Turner is the team's No. 1 offseason priority. Backups Isaiah Jackson and Thomas Bryant are both set to be free agents. Advertisement Get IndyStar's Pacers coverage sent directly to your inbox with our Pacers Update newsletter. 'You won over millions of new fans': ESPN writer to Pacers' Tyrese Haliburton after injury
ESPN's Brian Windhorst isn't done complimenting Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton. Windhorst appeared on "First Take" and spoke about Haliburton's Achilles injury in a Game 7 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Finals. "One of the biggest heartbreaking things about this whole situation is he was playing great," Windhorst said. "The thing about Haliburton that we know is that when he gets off to great starts, he can do anything. I'd hate to even say this, but he might have scored 40 points in this game. We'll never know, but he had nine points in seven minutes. The Thunder were looking a little shaky. It's possible he has a game that is an all-time classic." Windhorst said that while Haliburton didn't win the game and is facing a long recovery, he did win something. Re-live the Pacers incredible postseason run with our commemorative book "You won over millions of new fans," Windhorst said. "Because if you didn't know Tyrese Haliburton and the type of player he is and the type of clutch player he is, you know him now after seeing those shots." Windhorst also said Haliburton "won over the respect of everybody in this league." "They all respect what you did," Windhorst said. "There have been this little moment where there was this overrated thing, whatever that poll is. He put a good face on it, but I'm sure he felt a certain way about it. Well, that's over. Tyrese may not have gotten the championship, but he made a statement for the rest of his life for the way he handled himself over this situation and over the last two months."
