Emmerdale star reveals scenes were 'cut' at last minute before being brutally killed off
Emmerdale star Simon Haines has exclusively revealed that some of his scenes were 'cut' at the last minute just as he was about to begin shooting. Emmerdale star Simon Haines says some of his scenes were 'cut' before he had even started filming. The actor made three appearances on the ITV soap in July as the character of Owen Michaels and was seen on a date with Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley), but things took a sour turn when he spiked Robert's drink and John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) intervened. Just days later, paramedic John found Owen unresponsive at his home and instead of choosing to save him, left him to die so he could write up a note on his laptop framing him for the murder of Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter). Simon always knew his stay in the Dales was going to be short, but has now revealed that there were actually more scenes planned, explaining exclusively to the Mirror: "Yeah, we talked about it in advance with casting. Of course, the scripts always change. I think there was more Owen stuff in there, but by the time we came to do the first day shooting, it had been taken out. "I'm not sure, who knows? Probably not a second date with Robert but yeah we always knew it was going to be a sort of quick, impactful mini villain storyline." However, Simon was ultimately happy with his short run on the show, and explained: "It felt really good because I knew that I had other projects that were coming up and was sort of limited with availability and it was just a great chance to be a part of something so iconic, have a big impact and then get out." Fans are now convinced that they know how killer John will get his comeuppance, and even Simon thinks John 'tying himself in knots' now that things are starting to come to a head, but is not convinced that a return for himself is outside of the realms of possibility in soapland, as he teased: "I think so. I think John is tying himself in knots now. Ollie, on my last day, was like 'You never know, there could be a twin brother or something...' So, you never know, that might not be the last you see of me." Fans know that John has been messaging someone at a helpline to offload about his guilt, with him struggling over his actions. What we found out on Wednesday was that the person he's been messaging is none other than village vet Paddy Kirk. Paddy happens to be the father figure of John's husband Aaron Dingle. Fans are now convinced John will let slip everything he has done, after Paddy asked John, unaware it was him, if he wanted to speak on the phone. If Paddy is told anything by John and he recognises his voice, could it be game over for the killer? Fans certainly think so, wondering if Paddy will work it all out and expose the killer. One viewer posted online: "Did everybody see that? Will Paddy put 2+2 together & eventually figure out that he's talking to John on the Guardians helpline?" Another fan said: "Paddy being able to be the one who exposes John is actually a hilarious idea." A third viewer added: "Ahh Paddy is going to be the one to catch John out." Another fan echoed this theory, writing: "Ooo Paddy put it all together mate!" Meanwhile other fans hoped he might team up with John's brother Robert, who is already onto John. One fan suggested more than one character could now team up to take down John. They said: "Robert, Paddy , Cain and Tracy VS John." But other fans were worried about this latest development, sure it could leave Paddy in danger. If John was to find out Paddy was the person he was messaging, surely he would have to cover his tracks if he did confess to a crime. Fans wondered if Paddy would sadly be John's next victim. One viewer commented: "Don't tell me! Paddy's next," as another said: "OMG Paddy," along with a GIF teasing danger ahead for him.A further post said: "If John hurts a hair on Paddy's head, I will riot. He needs to get caught already." Viewers will have to stay tuned to find out if the pair speak and end up realising who each other is, and what this could mean for John.

VS always stood by common man: Mar Thoma Metropolitan
PATHANAMTHITTA : Mar Thoma Church supremo Theodosius Mar Thoma Metropolitan has said former chief minister V S Achuthanandan's life was defined by relentless commitment to justice and people's struggles. He described VS as a leader who stood unwaveringly with the common man. In a condolence message, he recalled how Achuthanandan rose from the agitations of Kuttanad's agricultural workers and remained a powerful voice for the marginalised throughout his political career. 'Whether as chief minister or Leader of Opposition, he stood by the people at every turn,' the metropolitan said. Highlighting that VS was the one who implemented Paddy, Wetland Conservation Act, he said VS did everything from his experiences. 'His life experience was his textbook, and his politics was rooted in lived realities. He strongly advocated for environmental protection, including protection of paddy fields. With his demise, Kerala has lost not just a leader, but the voice of the poor and the ordinary citizen,' he said.

Emmerdale fans think the latest episode of the ITV soap has confirmed which character will trigger the downfall of killer John Sugden, but it could lead to another death twist Some Emmerdale fans are convinced they now know who will bring down killer John Sugden after a telling scene on Wednesday. The character has framed someone else for his darkest crime, the murder of Nate Robinson. John twist in ITVX Emmerdale release as unexpected legend ‘set to uncover' truth
The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Emmerdale that hasn't aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX. Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) has started a new job in Emmerdale – but currently remains unaware of how close he is to a game-changing secret. Paddy has been struggling with low confidence ever since he was attacked by a dog on Celia's (Jaye Griffiths) farm. In the hospital, Paddy was left devastated when dad Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) berated him. He commented on Paddy's mental health, called him a 'doormat', and reckoned people tip toe around him because they're worried he might feel suicidal again. In the aftermath, the comments massively knocked Paddy and on top of this, he was also dealing with a fear of large dogs, which seriously impacted his work at the vets. Paddy has made progress and recently spent time with Chip the dog. When it comes to his confidence levels though, he's continuing to try and build them up again by helping others through a mental health charity. Paddy was being a bit coy with Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) in tonight's episode and didn't want to tell him what he was really planning on doing with his afternoon off. Meanwhile, John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) had spent the day consumed with guilt after letting Owen Michaels (Simon Haines) die. The troubled character was found unconscious by John towards the end of last week, but died when John failed to call an ambulance for him. Instead, John wrote a note on Owen's laptop that confirmed he killed Nate Robinson. John believed that this would help Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and Tracy Shankley (Amy Walsh) with closure and moving forward – but it just made things worse. Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) pointed out to John that Cain and Tracy will never get what they want when it comes to justice for Nate, because Owen is no longer here. The local GP made is abundantly clear that Owen's suicide has not helped Nate's family at all. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Who's leaving Coronation Street? Riddled with negative emotion, John sat down at his laptop and opened the website for Guardians, a mental health charity. He chose to speak via their messaging service this time, and alluded to the advisor that he's done something very bad. More Trending The volunteer wondered if John would like to speak via a phone call instead, but it was at this point the chat ended. We then saw another laptop closing, with Paddy sat in front of it. Paddy is incredibly close to the truth about John – but neither of them know who they are talking to. Will John everything, believing he is telling a complete stranger? Biggest travel mistakes include booking wrong tickets and 'getting lost'
New research has found the most common travel mistakes, with 14% of UK travellers saying they've had to buy new plane tickets after making a mistake on their booking. New research from Paddy Power Games found 9% have had to spend hours on the phone with customer service after messing up a holiday booking, with 7% of travellers confessing they ended up spending the night in the airport, having not booked a hotel. 23% of 25-34-year-olds admitted they've been slapped with unexpected baggage fees while one-in-five of the 45-60 age group said they had packed restricted items into their hand luggage. Travellers have also confessed they don't always know where they're going - with 51% not knowing Santorini is in Greece. 22% thought it was in Italy, while 14% admitted they hadn't a clue. Porto didn't fare much better, with 7% believing it's in Spain. And around four million thought San Diego is in Spain too. 13% don't know Berlin is in Germany, despite it being the capital city. Florence got lost too, with 6% assuming it was in France. 1% throught that Miami is in Türkiye. A spokesperson for Paddy Power Games, said: "We launched Paddy's Big Summer Spin to give punters a chance to bag the getaway of their dreams – and based on our findings, it looks like half the country could use it just to figure out where they're going. Whether you're a globetrotting guru or someone who thinks Miami's in Türkiye, we've got your back… just maybe double-check the map before you go." Paddy's giving away more than 40,000 prizes every Friday this summer for the Big Summer Spin - including a £5k holiday voucher.
