Jaishankar said India's diplomatic approach has largely maintained the same response to terror attacks abroad as it does for those on its own soil. 'In that respect honestly, we have been much more consistent and principled,' he added. Jaishankar emphasised the importance of pushing for a more unified global response to terrorism. 'Many of them are not doing it or not doing it sufficiently enough, and part of diplomacy is to exhort them, encourage them, persuade them, motivate them to do that,' he said. With Shimla Agreement in suspension, SGPC cancels Sikh pilgrimage to Pakistan for Maharaja Ranjit Singh's death anniversary
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) Sunday announced that it will not send a Sikh pilgrimage group (jattha) to Pakistan this year to mark the death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the founder of the Sikh Empire, on June 27. The decision follows the diplomatic stand-off between India and Pakistan and the suspension of the 1972 Shimla Agreement in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack. The pilgrimage is undertaken as part of a longstanding arrangement under the Shimla Agreement, which permits Sikh pilgrims to visit Pakistan four times a year. Harbhajan Singh Vakta, a representative of the SGPC, confirmed the cancellation on Monday and said, 'Every year, a few 'jatthas' are sent by SGPC to Pakistan for darshan. One of these is the 'jattha' for Maharaja Ranjit Singh's death anniversary… Now, the SGPC has decided not to send the 'jattha' this time. We had made an official announcement yesterday. Looking at the situation between the two countries, this time no 'jattha' will be sent,' Vakta said. There has been no immediate response from Pakistan's Evacuee Trust Property Board, which typically hosts the Sikh pilgrims. According to the agreement, up to 3,000 pilgrims are allowed to travel for Guru Nanak Dev's birth anniversary, 1,000 for the martyrdom day of Guru Arjan Dev, and 500 for the death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The sites of religious and historical importance to Sikhs in Pakistan include Nankana Sahib, the birthplace of Guru Nanak Dev, and Lahore, where Guru Arjan Dev was martyred. The SGPC's decision follows India's recent diplomatic actions against Pakistan, which included scaling down diplomatic missions, sealing the border, and suspending the Indus Waters Treaty. These steps were taken after the April 22 Pahalagam terror attack in Kashmir, in which 26 people were killed. In the last week of April, Pakistan suspended the Shimla Agreement in response to India's suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty. On May 7, India launched Operation Sindoor, its military action targeting terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), leading to a military conflict between the two nations before a ceasefire was announced on May 10.

New Delhi: The simple yet symbolic logo of India's Operation Sindoor which has captured the imagination of millions of people across the country, was designed by two Army men. India decimated nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir with precision strikes early on May 7 in response to the dastardly April 22 Pahalgam massacre. Shortly after, the Indian Army's social media handles carried a poignant message with a poster that has now become a defining image of Operation Sindoor. According to the latest edition of India Army's magazine 'Baatcheet' dedicated to Operation Sindoor, the logo of the decisive military action was designed by Lt Col Harsh Gupta and Hav Surinder Singh. In its special issue, it also shared the photographs of the two Armymen, flanked by the now famed logo, and some figures in a box, indicating the massive traction it has garnered on different social media platforms, including X and Instagram. The opening section of the 17-page magazine carries the logo emblazoned across the page with the emblem of the India Army graced on top. The next page recalls the Pahalgam attack that shook the nation and drew condemnation from multiple countries, heads of state and other top leaders. "On 22 April 2025, the nation witnessed a dastardly and brutal act of violence where five terrorists killed 26 innocent civilians in the name of religion. This incident occurred in the serene meadows of Baisaran Valley, Pahalgam, where the tourists had gone to celebrate life with fervor. This incident fortified the resolve of our country to fight terror with punitive action," reads a text captioned 'Pahalagam'. The text is accompanied with photographs of the aftermath of the attack, rows of coffins and of the emotional farewell at a funeral of one of the victims. The 11th page of the magazine also carries a photograph of Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi looking at a screen grid, and mentions the timestamp -- date May 7, 2025, time 0105 hrs. The strike was conducted on May 7 from 1.05 am to 1.30 am under Operation Sindoor and it was launched to deliver justice to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and their families, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Col Sofiya Qureshi told a press conference hours after the military action. At 1.44 am that day, the government, in a statement, underlined that India has demonstrated "considerable restraint" in the selection of targets and method of execution and that "no Pakistani military facilities have been targeted". Shortly after, the Indian Army's social media handles carried a message with a poster. Along with the message "#PahalgamTerrorAttack Justice is Served. Jai Hind!" the Indian Army's 1.51 am X post carried the poster that was concise in words but heavy on symbolism. The poster had 'OPERATION SINDOOR' written on it with a small bowl carrying vermilion (worn by married Hindu women) forming the first 'O' of the second word while the second 'O' had a dash of the powder around it. Since then, the Indian Army has come up with several thematic short videos on social media platforms that have been widely shared and appreciated. Addressing his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister termed Operation Sindoor as a turning point in the global fight against terror and a symbol of India's growing strength and clarity of purpose.

Naidu leads Tiranga Yatra in Vijayawada hailing Operation Sindoor
More than 15,000 people participated in the massive Tiranga Yatra rally held by the ruling Telugu Desam Party and its alliance partners in Andhra Pradesh – the Jana Sena Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party - in Vijayawada on Friday, to hail the recent Indian military mission - Operation Sindoor, to decimate terrorist bases in Pakistan. TDP president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu led the rally, joined by NDA allies, as the tricolour fluttered high throughout the march. The rally, held in tribute to India's armed forces and their sacrifices, echoed with nationalistic slogans and witnessed enthusiastic participation from all sections of society. Addressing the massive gathering, Naidu evoked strong sentiments about recent terror incidents. 'When we hear the name 'Pahalagam', it triggers anger and fury within us. It is a situation that warns us to stay alert and vigilant,' he said. Citing the heartbreaking terror incident he added, 'A husband was killed in front of his wife, a father was killed in front of his son — they were asked their religion and name before being murdered. After witnessing such incidents, every Indian felt a surge of anger.' Endorsing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership for avenging the Pahalgam terror attack, Naidu said the Prime Minister had decided that there is no place on this soil for a terrorist who wiped off 'Sindoor' from the forehead of our daughters. 'That's when Operation Sindoor was launched,' he said. Deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan, BJP state president and MP Daggubati Purandeswari, state ministers, MLAs, MLCs, and top officials took part in the Tiranga Yatra.
