Following the heinous April 22 Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 people, India launched Operation Sindoor, a decisive reply to Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. The Operation launched on May 7 struck nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir. On May 10, an understanding of cessation of hostilities between the two countries was announced. Live Events Since the attack, the Opposition has demanded answers from the Centre regarding the attack. Opposition parties have called the Pahalgam attack itself an intelligence failure, and have demanded to know when the perpetrators of the terror attack will be caught. The opposition has also demanded that the Centre clear the record amid US President Donald Trump's repeated claims that he helped mediate the cessation of hostilities between the two countries. Recently, too, President Trump claimed that at least five fighter jets were shot down during the hostilities; however, he did not clarify whether the losses were from the Indian or Pakistside. India, in turn, has vehemently denied the claims, stating that the understanding was reached bilaterally rather than through a third party.

Turkish aviation firm's plea against security clearance revocation dismissed

The Delhi High Court on Monday dismissed Turkish aviation firm Celebi Airport Services India Pvt Ltd's petition challenging the government's decision to revoke its security clearance on national security Sachin Datta dismissed the petitions filed by Celebi Airport Services India Pvt Ltd and Celebi Delhi Cargo Terminal Management India Pvt Ltd, which manage ground handling and cargo operations at several Indian airports. The verdict had been reserved on May aviation security regulator, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), had withdrawn Celebi's security clearance on May 15, citing national security interests. The decision came days after Turkey openly backed Pakistan and condemned India's strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir (POK), sparking widespread public outrage in India. Celebi, part of Turkey's Celebi group, has been operating in India's aviation sector for over 15 years and employs more than 10,000 people across nine airports. The security clearance now withdrawn had been granted as recently as November Central government's counsel defended the revocation, arguing there was an "unprecedented threat" to aviation security that justified immediate action. In an affidavit filed on May 19, the Centre said the clearance was withdrawn based on specific inputs that continuing Celebi's services would pose risks under the current for the company, Celebi's counsel argued that the government's move violated principles of natural justice and the procedure laid down under the Aircraft Security Rules. He contended that the Director General of BCAS should have issued a notice, provided an opportunity for a hearing, and recorded reasons before taking such an extreme government, however, maintained that the security clearance was revoked "with immediate effect in the interest of national security". The aviation ministry and junior aviation minister Murlidhar Mohol also defended the decision, citing public demands to ban Celebi due to Turkey's stance on the High Court's dismissal, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security's revocation order stands, directly impacting Celebi's operations in India. The detailed judgment will be uploaded shortly.- Ends

"Congress leaders are doing politics on Op Sindoor": Union Minister Anupriya Patel

Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 8 (ANI): Union Minister Anupriya Patel strongly criticised Congress leaders on Sunday for allegedly doing politics over Operation Sindoor, saying the issue was related to the security and honour of the nation and should not be politicised. While speaking to the mediapersons, Patel said, 'Operation Sindoor is a matter related to the security and respect of the nation. Congress leaders are doing politics on this subject unnecessarily.' She added that when India's parliamentary delegation visited foreign countries recently, they received widespread support for India's stand against terrorism. 'The countries where our delegation of parliamentarians visited have not only appreciated India's policy against terrorism, but also clearly stated that they stand with India on the terrorism front,' she said. Patel claimed that the world had recognised India's strong response to terrorism. 'India has taken major and calculated action against terrorism. Today, all countries of the world are impressed and appreciating it, and we all need to stand together on the subject of national security,' she added. She also emphasised the importance of unity and nationalism, especially during international visits. 'Especially when we go on foreign soil, we should keep our opinions in line with the way our government has fought terrorism by enhancing the pride of our nation. Our delegation has kept its side,' Patel asserted. India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 and struck nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir in response to a ghastly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam last month in which 26 people were killed. After the attack, Pakistan retaliated with cross-border shelling across the Line of Control and Jammu and Kashmir as well as attempted drone attacks along the border regions, following which India launched a coordinated attack and damaged radar infrastructure, communication centres, and airfields across 11 airbases in Pakistan. After this, on May 10, an understanding of the cessation of hostilities between India and Pakistan was announced. (ANI)
