Dunk opens up about Pak-Ind setback

Former Australian wicketkeeper-batter Ben Dunk has shared his thoughts following the cancellation of the much-anticipated clash between arch-rivals India Champions and Pakistan Champions in the ongoing World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025. The high-profile encounter, which was scheduled to be the fourth match of the tournament, was set to take place on Sunday at Edgbaston. However, it was unexpectedly called off, triggering widespread disappointment and reactions from fans and former cricketers alike. Speaking at a media conference, the 38-year-old expressed his passion for the game and the hope that cricket continues to unite fans across borders. "As a cricket lover myself, I love all forms of cricket — the more cricket, the better," Dunk said. "Everyone has the right to pick and choose what they watch or support, and I respect everyone's point of view. I hope that, going forward, sports can be a uniting factor," he added. The 38-year-old also highlighted the overall strength of the Pakistan Champions squad and singled out one player in particular who could be a real threat when they face Australia in the ongoing tournament. "All of them. It's a legends tournament, and I don't think there's a single player across any team who isn't a champion in their own right," he said. "I've always been really fortunate to spend time with Mohammad Hafeez during our time at Lahore Qalandars. We built a great relationship based on mutual respect - at least I hope it's mutual! He top-scored in the first game and is definitely someone we fear a bit," he added. It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan Champions started their WCL 2025 campaign on a winning note, narrowly defeating England Champions by five runs in the opening fixture. Defending a total of 161, the Pakistani side held England to 155-3 in their 20 overs, thanks to a disciplined final over by Sohail Khan, who gave away just 10 runs when 16 were required for victory.

Mohammed Siraj Asked About India-Pakistan Controversy In WCL. Pacer's Reply Goes Viral

Mohammed Siraj was dumbfounded after he was asked to share his views on the cancellation of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) fixture between India and Pakistan. Holders India Champions were scheduled to play Pakistan Champions at Edgbaston on Sunday. However, some members of the India Champions squad refused to play the match, eventually leading to its cancellation. The denial of Indian players to feature against Pakistan stems from the heinous terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam on April 22. Following the attack, the relationship between India and Pakistan slumped and hit a new low. On Monday, Siraj's pre-match press conference ahead of the fourth Test match against England went off-topic as a reporter asked him about the cancellation of the highly-anticipated WCL fixture. However, Siraj was visibly agitated by the same. "I don't know," Siraj replied. The reporter then put Siraj in an uncomfortable position by asking him whether India would play Pakistan in ICC events. Siraj re-iterated saying, 'I don't know what to say.' During the press conference, Siraj also recalled his time when he was batting at the crease during the third match of the series in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. An unfortunate dismissal of Mohammed Siraj at the hands of Shoaib Bashir, with the ball rolling back into the stumps after landing on the pitch, marked the end of India's stubborn resistance at Lord's, with Ravindra Jadeja left stranded following a heartbreaking 22-run loss. India lost the match despite dominating England for large parts of the game, with Jasprit Bumrah being one of the standout performers. He took seven wickets, including a five-wicket haul in the first innings. Speaking at the pre-match press conference on his dismissal in the Lord's Test, Siraj told the media, "It obviously hurts when you get out despite middling the ball. The way our (Ravindra Jadeja's and my) partnership was going, I felt I wouldn't get out. I was that confident. But unfortunately, it didn't happen that way, and I was extremely disappointed. Had we won the game from there, it would have been a different result altogether."

WCL 2025: Pakistan Champions refuse to share points with Yuvraj Singh's side, says 'India backed out'

World Championship of Legends on Monday informed the England and Wales Cricket Board that they were unable to conduct the match between India and Pakistan and that the Indian team was not at fault, according to an ANI report. Reports suggest players including Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, and Yusuf Pathan decided to pull out following public backlash over the Pahalgam attacks and heightened hostilities in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor. While these players did not officially confirm their withdrawal, former India batter Shikhar Dhawan posted a statement on social media sharing an email he had sent to the organisers, informing them of his decision not to participate in the clash against Pakistan. Ahead of the clash on Sunday, WCL released a statement confirming that the IND-PAK fixture had been scrapped and apologised to the Indian public and legends. The ANI report, citing WCL sources, noted that the Pakistan Champions are not willing to share points with their arch-rivals given that the match was called off due to Indian players' unwillingness to participate. 'WCL have conveyed to the England and Wales Cricket Board that they, as organisers, were not able to conduct this match. The India Champions team are not at fault. The Pakistan Champions team are not willing to share points because they are saying that it is India who backed out, not them,' a WCL source was quoted by the agency as saying. Meanwhile, Pakistan Champions owner Kamil Khan recently stated that his team deserves the two points for the clash. 'All the remaining matches are taking place. The tournament is going on as per schedule, and there are no changes. As for the semifinals and final, we're currently saying that if we make it to the semifinals, there will be four teams, and we will avoid matches between the two teams,' he told the media. 'If we reach the final, then the decisions regarding that will be made then. And as for this match, the two points will be awarded to us, and we deserve those points as per the rules,' Khan added.
