The announcement was made by Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) Chief Gohar Ali Khan, who met the former prime minister in the Adiala jail months after repeatedly being denied access to him. 'For the sake of the country, I have repeatedly talked about negotiations, but now the time for negotiations has passed. After the 26th Constitutional Amendment…the hope we had for justice from the courts has completely disappeared, so now no other method can bring the Pakistani nation out of this swamp of lawlessness except a nationwide protest movement,' Khan said on X. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The meeting between the two party leaders focused on the protest movement launched by Imran Khan, which is set to reach its 'peak' on August 5, marking two years since his imprisonment in multiple cases. Imran Khan added that the August 5 protests will be the conclusion of the party's months-long nationwide protests. 'This is not just about political revenge anymore—it's about every citizen's rights being stolen. The founder has said this movement should now take the shape of a second Pakistan Movement," Gohar said. Talking about the details of his meeting with Khan, the PTI chief claimed that Khan is living in solitary confinement and is 'mentally sharper and more determined than ever' and 'despite being silenced, the founder has given us a message—prepare, mobilise, and raise your voice peacefully but fearlessly'. Aleema Khan, Imran Khan's sister, spoke to the media outside the jail alongside her other sisters, although she did not meet her brother. She discussed the protest movement he announced, stating that the entire family would actively participate in it. She said Imran's son, Qasim and Suleiman, will be travelling to the US to highlight the injustices against their father. However, it is not clear whether they will go to the US before or after the August 5 protests.

Creation of Pakistan: Minister highlights role of religious minorities

LAHORE: A thought-provoking and historic seminar titled 'The Role of Minorities in the Creation and Continuity of Pakistan' was held at Alhamra Art Council, Lahore, as part of the Jashn-e-Urdu celebrations. The event was graced by Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs, Ramesh Singh Arora, as the chief guest. The seminar aimed to highlight the significant historical and contemporary contributions of religious minorities to the unity, development, and progress of Pakistan. In his address, Ramesh Singh Arora remarked that religious minorities in Pakistan are like vibrant colors in the bouquet of our nation, completing its beauty and harmony. According to the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, we are all equal citizens. The Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is transforming this vision into reality through inclusive and historic reforms. He paid tribute to the sacrifices made by minorities during the Pakistan Movement and acknowledged the contributions of individuals from minority communities in fostering education, political engagement, social harmony, and national progress. Ramen Arora also elaborated on several key initiatives currently being undertaken by the Punjab government for minority communities, including: Construction, renovation, and expansion of religious sites belonging to minority groups, Educational scholarships for deserving minority students, Legislative reforms for the protection of minority rights and Cultural and training programs to promote interfaith harmony. Mufti Ashiq Hussain emphasized the importance of interfaith unity and stated that Islam teaches respect for all communities. The development of Pakistan is only possible when we embrace diversity with open hearts. Macdonald Chandi, a well-known Christian community leader, appreciated the provincial government's outreach: Dr Majeed Able, added that the role of minorities in the Pakistan Movement has been understated in our textbooks. It's time to give rightful space to these heroes of history. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025

86th Pakistan Day !

I congratulate the entire nation on Pakistan Day. Pakistan was established after great sacrifices and untiring efforts of our founding fathers and workers of the Pakistan Movement. Today, we face significant political, economic, and security challenges. Pakistan must navigate complex realities, tackle economic pressures, and pursue sustainable development. We continue to confront the menace of terrorism and our brave Armed Forces are making immense sacrifices to safeguard our homeland. Yet, we possess the potential to overcome these challenges and emerge stronger. The spirit of the Pakistan Resolution reminds us that Unity, Faith, and Discipline should be our guiding principles for success. We must strengthen national security, revitalise the economy, advance agriculture, ensure energy security, and create opportunities for our youth. We must invest in healthcare and social welfare so that no Pakistani is left behind. Following a foreign policy under the guidelines given by the Father of the Nation, Pakistan continues to advocate for peaceful coexistence, regional stability, and mutual cooperation. We are determined to build stronger relationships with our neighbours and the global community, based on mutual respect and shared prosperity. At the same time, we remain steadfast in defending our sovereignty and territorial integrity. Our Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies have made immense sacrifices to protect our homeland, and we salute their bravery. On this day, we reaffirm our steadfast support for the people of Palestine in their struggle for self-determination. The road ahead is challenging, but not impossible. Let us honour the sacrifices of our heroes by shaping a strong, united, and prosperous Pakistan. -- Heartfelt greetings to all Pakistanis on this momentous day of national celebration! This day stands as a defining moment in the history of South Asia's Muslims. Eighty-five years ago, on March 23rd, the visionary Muslim leadership of the subcontinent united with an unwavering resolve to lay the foundation for an independent homeland. Guided by the inspiring leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, they envisioned a state where Muslims could live with dignity, freedom, and self-respect – a land shaped by their aspirations and values. On this landmark day in 1940, the Lahore Resolution set the course for that vision. Just seven years later, Pakistan emerged as an independent nation – a testament to the unyielding spirit, perseverance, and sacrifices of our forefathers. Over the decades, Pakistan has shown extraordinary strength. From an emerging nation to a nuclear power, our journey has been shaped by perseverance and determination. Yet, this is not where we stop. It will take tireless effort and a collective vision to realise the dream of our founding father. Our economy is now on a path to sustained growth. Inflation is declining, investor confidence rising, and macroeconomic fundamentals improving. We salute our martyrs and security forces whose sacrifices keep us united and strong.
