Gaza: Death of the World's Youngest Freed Prisoner - Jordan News
Gaza: Death of the World's Youngest Freed Prisoner Palestinian teenager Youssef Al-Zaq, 17, who was known as the world's youngest freed prisoner, was martyred in a drone strike that targeted his family's apartment in Gaza City early Saturday morning, according to the Palestinian Prisoners' Media Office. اضافة اعلان In a statement, the office said: 'Youssef Al-Zaq, the world's youngest freed prisoner, was martyred after the occupation targeted his family's apartment on Al-Thawra Street in central Gaza City.' Youssef was born inside an Israeli prison in 2008, and his name became widely known for his mother's story—Fatima Al-Zaq, a former prisoner, who gave birth to him while behind bars. Fatima Al-Zaq was arrested by Israeli forces in 2007 while leaving Gaza to seek medical treatment. At the time, she was pregnant with Youssef, though she only discovered her pregnancy after being imprisoned. Her husband and eight children were unable to share the joy of expecting a new baby, as Youssef was later born in prison, according to her previous statements. Fatima endured harsh conditions while raising Youssef inside a small, cramped prison cell for nearly two years, lacking basic necessities. She suffered from malnutrition and poor medical care, with no safe space to care for her newborn. She was only allowed to leave her cell in handcuffs, and both she and her baby faced repeated medical neglect. Her son fell ill multiple times amid the absence of adequate healthcare, according to reports from human rights organizations cited by Anadolu Agency. In 2008, Fatima and Youssef were released as part of a prisoner exchange deal, in which 19 Palestinian women were freed in return for a video showing captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. Shalit was later released in the 'Wafa al-Ahrar' (Faithful to the Free) deal in 2011, which saw the release of nearly 1,000 Palestinian prisoners.

IOF Intensifies Repression Campaign against Palestinian Prisoners
DaysofPal- As the Israeli war on Gaza enters its ninth month, rights groups and former detainees warn of an alarming escalation in abuses against Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails. Reports detail a systematic campaign of torture, starvation, and psychological abuse, described by experts as a deliberate policy of slow execution practiced by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF). Since the outbreak of the war on October 7, 2023, the conditions for over 10,400 Palestinian detainees have dramatically worsened, with more than 1,800 prisoners from Gaza labeled as 'unlawful combatants'—a classification that strips them of legal protections under international law. Hassan Abd Rabbo, a leading researcher on prisoner affairs, said the occupation is 'exploiting the war and global silence to inflict collective punishment on detainees.' He accused Israeli authorities of 'waging a war of revenge inside prisons,' where prisoners face daily beatings, deprivation of food and medical care, and complete isolation from the outside world. 'The prison system is being used as a tool of retribution,' Abd Rabbo said, calling the conditions a 'war crime in progress.' Former prisoner and researcher Munqith Abu Atwan echoed these concerns, describing Israeli prisons as 'concrete fortresses of psychological warfare' built to 'destroy the Palestinian spirit.' He likened them to 'slow execution chambers,' designed by experts in psychological repression. According to the Palestinian Prisoners' Media Office, the Israeli forces and prison service have expanded their campaign to include mass arrests, including children, elderly citizens, and women. More than 560 women have been detained since the war began, many accused of 'incitement' on social media. The group also documented dozens of nighttime raids targeting the families of prisoners and resistance fighters. These raids, often accompanied by physical violence and the terrorizing of children, reflect what rights monitors describe as a growing reliance on collective punishment. 'These actions violate the Fourth Geneva Convention, which prohibits torture and collective punishment and obligates protection for civilians during conflict,' the office said in a statement. 'Yet the occupation continues with impunity, shielded by international inaction.' The Palestinian Prisoners' Club confirmed that the number of female prisoners now stands at 47, including two underage girls and 10 held without charge under administrative detention. Despite the deteriorating conditions, activists say Palestinian prisoners continue to resist with remarkable resilience. 'They remain steadfast behind bars,' said Abd Rabbo, 'carrying the torch of freedom, even as the world looks away.' Human rights organizations have called for urgent international intervention to halt what they describe as a 'war within a war,' demanding accountability and immediate protection for detainees subjected to daily brutality. Prisoners' Media Office condemns Israeli occupation's arrest of prisoners released under "Flood of Freedom" deal
Gaza – Saba: The Palestinian Prisoners' Media Office strongly condemned, on Thursday, the arrest campaign launched by Israeli occupation forces targeting a number of prisoners released under the "Flood of Freedom" deal in various areas of the occupied West Bank. The statement considered these arrests a blatant violation of international conventions and agreements, and a new confirmation of the occupation's evasion of its obligations and its lack of respect for the agreements governing prisoner exchange operations, "in direct violation of international humanitarian law, which guarantees the protection of released prisoners from arbitrary re-arrest."
