Air pollution in city down by 40%: AMC commissioner
Ahmedabad: During a workshop on the 'Resilient and Inclusive Cities in India' report held at the Sabarmati Riverfront House on Wednesday, Ahmedabad municipal commissioner Bachha Nidhi Pani said that air pollution in the city has reduced by 40%. He credited tree plantation drives, solid waste management, and dust control measures by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) for the improvement. "Air pollution in Ahmedabad has dropped by 40%. Walk along the Sabarmati Riverfront road, and one won't feel the dust," Pani said, addressing the media after the meeting. A statement from the AMC highlighted key sustainability initiatives, including projects generating 21 MW of wind energy and 2 MW of solar energy, LED streetlights, green building regulations, and promotion of waste segregation and composting. AMC is also developing bio-CNG and waste-to-energy projects, he added. Joju George reveals Pani 2 title
Pani, released in October 2024, is an action-packed revenge thriller set in Thrissur. The film was noted for its strong performances, particularly by Sagar Surya and Junaiz V P, who played the antagonists. Joju, who also co-produced the film, scored his biggest commercial success with it. Meanwhile, Joju is next teaming up with Urvashi for a film titled Aasha. Launched recently in Kochi, the film marks the directorial debut of Safar Sanal. Joju also doubles up as one of its writers as he pens the screenplay and dialogues along with Ramesh Girija and Safar Sanal. Joju is also part of Jeethu Joseph's upcoming thriller Valathu Vashathe Kallan, co-starring Biju Menon.

Urvashi, Joju George join forces for multilingual film ‘Aasha'; shoot begins with traditional pooja
Malayalam cinema powerhouses Urvashi and Joju George are all set to star in the upcoming multilingual drama Aasha, which officially launched with a traditional pooja ceremony at the historic Thrikkakkara Vamana Moorthy Temple. The film is produced by Vinayaka Ajith under the banner of Ajith Vinayaka Films and marks the directorial debut of Safar Sanal, who also authored the story. Adding depth to the narrative, the screenplay and dialogues have been collaboratively written by Joju George, Ramesh Girija, and Safar Sanal. The pooja ceremony saw Joju George, director Safar Sanal, and acclaimed cinematographer Madhu Neelakandan lighting the inaugural lamp. Joju also gave the first clap of the shoot, while Madhu handled the ceremonial switch-on, officially kickstarting the production. Aasha is being mounted on a pan-Indian scale and will be released in five major Indian languages, signalling wide-reaching appeal. Alongside Urvashi and Joju, the film also stars veteran actor Vijayaraghavan, the talented Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Pani movie fame Ramesh Girija in prominent roles.
