Band cover Rod Stewart Faces' song at Glasgow TRNSMT 2025

'We're amble, we're from Ireland', say the 7-piece band as they take to the King Tut's stage. Opening with Little White Church, the guitar and mandolin layered folk tune is beautifully paired with pitch-perfect harmonies. Their voices are rich and resonate through the wooded area of Glasgow Green in angelic fashion. There's a melancholy, a deep-seated longing that each lyric is steeped in. It's hard to put your finger on, but their music hits you in the lost places you thought you'd never find. Their soft, melodic sound perfectly suited the sunny Saturday of the festival. 'Aw, it's f**n' roasting, it's great to see all the Irish flags in the crowd!' they gasped. People took shade underneath trees on either side of the stage as afternoon temperatures peaked at 31 degrees. Schoolyard Days was a clear fan favourite and got the crowd dancing. Up until a few weeks ago, it has been special for us, declares the band, as some share they were Secondary School teachers until recently. 'It's a beautiful thing', they say as they talk of coming to the festival to see Paolo Nutini a few years ago. They covered Rod Stewart's old band Faces' song Ooh La La, belting our chorus 'I wish that I knew what I know now, when I was younger.' A beautiful cover in their own style, which was a clear nod to having followed a not-the-norm path. Of Land And Sea soared through the Clydeside air, and the mid-song tempo change welcomed a rapturous clap from the crowd as the band stepped up a gear. Their very first release, Mariner Boy, is dedicated to Oisien's grandad Tom. The TRNSMT chorus joined in full voice for chorus 'a mariner's boy's never free', you could bottle the catharsis and sell it. Their sound just has that something special; you can't help but feel lighter listening to them, as if they've healed a wound you hadn't noticed. Lonely Island was another highlight before the band declared, 'This is a moment we won't forget.' 'We all belong to the one road' sounds off closing song Tonnta, pure Celtic-cathartic beauty. Amble take a bow as their set finishes to the biggest cheer of the day so far - for a band who claim to have just found their footing, that one road they're on is only heading upwards.

Paolo Nutini's family chippy announced temporary closure

Castelvecchi on New Street in Paisley will shut its doors on Thursday, July 10, to allow 'exciting upgrades' to take place in its kitchen. The beloved eatery will reopen on Saturday, July 19, following the work. READ MORE: Huge Scots singer pictured at Paolo Nutini's family's chippy In a statement on Facebook, the fish and chip shop said: "Kitchen makeover alert. "We've got some exciting upgrades happening in our kitchen, but that means we'll be closed tonight for a whole week. "We'll be back on Saturday, July 19. Thanks for your patience, and we can't wait to see your smiling faces when we reopen. "Mark your calendars." Earlier this year, Alfredo Nutini, Paolo Nutini's father, announced he was retiring from the chippy after 53 years. The family business, which has been in Paisley for more than 100 years, was taken over by its manager, David O'Neill. After announcing his retirement, Alfredo told the Daily Record that the business 'is still very much being kept in the family'. He said: 'David has been with us for many years and is deeply passionate about preserving the traditions that make Castelvecchi special. He is a close family friend and, as such, the business is still very much being kept in the family. Paolo Nutini is a well-known Scottish singer from Paisley in Renfrewshire. The 38-year-old is known for his tunes, including Candy, Iron Sky, Better Man, New Shoes, and Last Request.

Liam Gallagher, Paolo Nutini, and Snow Patrol gigs help Thomond Stadium to €366k profit

Income from concerts by Liam Gallagher, Paolo Nutini, and Snow Patrol at Thomond Park in Limerick last summer helped the stadium firm to operating profits of €366,610 for 2024. The stadium hosted three gigs last July, and last year's €13.5m economic spinoff from the stadium's gigs for the Limerick and the Mid-West region will continue next month with gigs on July 11, 12, and 13, when the Wolfe Tones will play two nights and The Script will also perform on July 12. This year is the third year that the stadium firm, Thomond Park Stadium Co Ltd, has linked up with promoters MCD Production to stage concerts. Economic impact assessment In January of this year, an economic impact assessment by Repucon Consulting, and commissioned by Munster Rugby, reported that the 73,000 fans that attended last July's gigs created the €13.5m economic impact. The stadium firm operates the home of Munster rugby and it generates its revenues from licence fee income from rugby games, rights income, hospitality and catering income, rental income, bar income, and public events such as next month's concerts. The accounts for Thomond Park Stadium Company show the licence fee income from the Munster branch of the IRFU surged from €598,405 to €835,083 in the 12 months to the end of July last. Munster ensured a continuation of that level of income by qualifying for next season's Champions Cup, after finishing sixth in the URC. The company recorded post-tax losses of €691,140 in the 12 months to the end of July last, and the losses take account of non-cash depreciation costs of €1.057m. The post-tax loss was down 27% on the post-tax loss of €949,607 for fiscal 2023. The amount owed by the firm to the Munster branch totalled €17.69m at the end of July last, which was down on the €18.02m owed one year prior. Numbers directly employed unchanged Numbers directly employed at the stadium last year remained static at seven, and staff costs declined from €405,300 to €399,145 — including wages and salaries of €351,902. At the end of July last, the stadium firm had shareholder funds of €4.17m. The company's balance sheet received a boost in the prior year when it received a €6m capital contribution. A note states that the repayment schedule on the €17.18m owed to promoters, the IRFU and the Munster Branch of the IRFU at the end of July 'will be on a basis appropriate to company cash-flows'. The company has a book value of €22.06m on its tangible assets at the end of July last.

Update on Glasgow Subway strikes during Summer Sessions

More than 100 Glasgow Subway workers, represented by the Unite union, were set to walk out on Saturday, June 21. However, the industrial action has been paused following a new offer from SPT. The dispute centres around pay, terms, and working conditions, with staff raising concerns over chronic understaffing and excessive overtime demands. READ MORE: Paolo Nutini and Ncuti Gatwa join calls for Labour to suspend Israel arms sales Andrew Brown, Industrial Officer at Unite, said: 'An interim offer has been tabled by SPT. "Our members will now decide if it provides a temporary solution until a wider long-term agreement can be secured. "Strike action has been suspended for this Saturday, June 21, as an act of good faith while members are balloted on the offer.' Unite claims that SPT workers are frequently working up to 10 hours beyond their contracted 39 hours per week to keep the subway system operational. The union says the service is 'struggling' due to severe staff shortages. READ MORE: Weekend night bus services to return to Scottish city A ballot on the offer is scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 22. If the offer is rejected, further strike action is planned for June 25, 27, and 28. These dates coincide with several major events, including the Punk All Dayer festival featuring the Sex Pistols, and concerts by Sting, Simple Minds, and Stereophonics at Bellahouston Park as part of the city's Summer Sessions. A continuous overtime ban will also begin on 13 June, further impacting operations in the run-up to the strikes.

Rock band to perform at popular Glasgow's Saint Luke's

The gig will take place on December 13 and comes as part of the band's 2025 UK tour. READ NEXT: Singer Billie Marten reveals hilarious night out with Paolo Nutini The show will follow the release of The Clause's debut album, Victim Of A Casual Thing, out on October 17. It also comes after the band's support slots for groups like DMA's and The Snuts. Speaking on the upcoming album, frontman Pearce Macca said: "This record is soaked in the culture of growing up in the UK. It carries the echoes of wild nights and fragile mornings, broken relationships and faded ambitions. There's no pretence here—just four young heads trying to make sense of it all. This is the sound of feeling lost and insignificant in a city that doesn't slow down, and the fight to rise above it. The emotion is real, raw, and loud." The album's leading single, Nothing's As It Seems, is out now. READ NEXT: St Mirren legend's daughter speaks after losing dad to alcoholism To grab tickets for the city show, visit
