Airport drama as man runs across runway

Adelaide police are hunting a man who was seen running across an airport runway before disappearing into a storm drain. The incident happened at Parafield Airport in the city's northern suburbs about 3.30pm on Sunday. As of Monday morning, police have still not found the intruder. The airport is used by privately-owned light planes and for aviation training. In a statement, police said a man in dark clothing was seen running on the runways at the airport. 'No flights were affected or aircraft put in danger,' the police spokesperson said. 'The man ran into a stormwater drain.' Officers from the police Special Tasks and Rescue squad and the dog squad were called in. Officers and firefighters using oxygen tanks and masks went into the drains, but the man could not be found. Flight records show one light plane pushed back its scheduled departure by 40 minutes to 5.10pm. Another flight, this one coming from Whyalla, circled Adelaide a few times before touching down safely at Parafield at 4.47pm.
