Denis Villeneuve's 'Dune 3' gets an official title
There's an exciting update for the fans of the 'Dune' franchise. The new instalment in Denis Villeneuve's epic sci-fi franchise has been officially titled Dune: Part Three, Variety reported. The film will also include sequences shot with Imax cameras. However, Dune: Part Three will not be entirely shot with Imax cameras, following in the footsteps of Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, which is the first and so far only film to be produced that way. In an interview on CNBC, Imax CEO Richard Gelfond seemed to suggest that the next Dune would be filmed entirely with the company's proprietary cameras, but it appears he misspoke. During the end of the interview, Gelfond was asked about Villeneuve being hired by Amazon MGM Studios to direct their reboot of the James Bond franchise. The exec's response also touched on the director's plans for Dune: Part Three at Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment, which will film before the 007 revival, according to Variety. Filming on Dune: Part Three is set to begin imminently, with Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya reprising their roles.

Dune 3 gets official title as Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya gear up for an IMAX-heavy return to Arrakis
The sandstorm is swirling again on Arrakis and the official title has landed, Dune: Part Three is on the horizon. While fans were buzzing over reports calling it Dune Messiah, a nod to Frank Herbert's 1969 sequel, it turns out Warner Bros. and Legendary are going with the simpler (but still spicy) 'Part Three.' Guess the Messiah will have to wait for another dramatic reveal. Say hello to Dune: Part Three Set to follow Paul Atreides as he steps into his empire-era madness, the film picks up where Part Two left off, ruling, rebellion, and romance all tangled up in a spice-dusted power play. Now, here is where things got a little too cinematic. Imax CEO Richard Gelfond may have stirred the spice pot a bit too hard when he claimed Dune 3 would be entirely shot with Imax cameras. Spoiler alert, it will not. While the film will feature Imax sequences (like its predecessors), it will not follow Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey route, which holds the crown as the only feature shot entirely on Imax. A source from the production remained tight-lipped, but Gelfond's statement did spark excitement, especially when he called Villeneuve a 'genius' and teased fans with the hope that the director might bring his Imax obsession to the rumoured James Bond reboot next. Cast returns, but Villeneuve says this is not a trilogy Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya are back in the sand-saddle, and surprise—Jason Momoa is reportedly returning, despite his absence in Part Two. Villeneuve, however, made it clear this is not your typical trilogy. According to the director, Dune 1 & 2 are more of a 'diptych,' and Part Three will have its own narrative identity. In short, expect something darker, weirder, and not just a neat little wrap-up. Release date Dune: Part Three is set to hit cinemas in December 2026, just in time for the festive season. Because nothing says holiday cheer like intergalactic war, prophetic visions, and sandworms the size of skyscrapers.
