Thousands of Eurostar passengers facing cancellations and severe delays after cable theft
Thousands of Eurostar passengers are suffering severe delays and last-minute cancellations due to cable theft - a day after two track fatalities caused disruption. The latest delays come after 600 metres of copper cables were stolen overnight in the city of Lille in northern France, according to reports in the country. Eurostar said this was forcing it to run services on alternative routes, causing extended journey times. Its services were already disrupted because many trains and staff members were out of position after two fatalities on rail lines in France on Tuesday. The operator said it was handing out water to passengers on delayed trains, and it has teams at stations to provide assistance. Affected passengers are able to change their travel plans free of charge, or request a full refund. In a post on X, Eurostar said the cable theft meant trains were likely to be "subject to severe delays and last-minute cancellations", adding: "We advise you to cancel or postpone your trip." Read more from Sky News: Eurostar had said in a statement following the deaths on Tuesday: "We are deeply sorry to confirm that there were two separate fatalities on the LGV Nord high-speed line between Lille and Paris yesterday. "Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those who lost their lives. "The line was closed for much of the afternoon and evening, resulting in significant disruption to Eurostar services, including cancellations on routes to and from Paris. "Trains on the London-Brussels-Amsterdam route continued to run with delays. "This morning, disruption continues due to the knock-on impact of displaced trains and crew. "Further to this, services have been further affected by an incident of cable theft on the same line near Lille." This breaking news story is being updated and more details will be published shortly. Air India begins resuming flights to Middle East as airspaces reopen
On June 23, the airline 'ceased all operations to the Middle East'; flights were re-routed to avoid closed airspaces Air India will "progressively resume flights to the Middle East from today (June 24)", with most operations resuming from June 25. This comes as airspaces gradually reopen in the parts of the region. "Flights to and from Europe, previously cancelled, are also being progressively reinstated from today, while services to and from the East Coast of the US and Canada will resume at the earliest opportunity," the airline added. On June 23, the airline "ceased all operations to the Middle East as well as to and from the East Coast of North America and Europe with immediate effect". Flights were re-routed to avoid closed airspaces. This came after an Iranian attack on a US base in Qatar. Iran said it was an act of self-defence in response to US attacks on Iranian nuclear sites, and was not an action against Qatar. While some flights may experience delays or cancellations due to extended re-routing, the airline said it is "committed to minimising disruptions and restoring our schedule integrity." Air India said it "will continue to avoid airspaces assessed as unsafe at any given time." With safety and security of passengers, staff, and aircraft remaining top priority, the airline said it will keep passengers informed of any updates.

Eurostar passengers see dozens of train services cancelled or delayed
Eurostar passengers saw up to two dozen services between Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam and London cancelled or delayed on Wednesday. As some trains ground to a halt, a passenger on a train in France claimed the electricity had been cut off, leaving travellers with no air conditioning for more than half an hour. A Eurostar spokesperson told The Independent: 'Eurostar services between London and Paris were delayed by one to two hours following an incident on the LGV Nord high-speed line this morning, where a person was struck by a TGV train. 'We are working closely with the French authorities and infrastructure teams to manage the impact and keep services moving. Customers were contacted directly with updates and options and asked not to arrive at the station early to help ease congestion.' They added the air conditioning is a separate issue which is being investigated. One passenger said, according to The Telegraph: 'Eurostar train stuck for over half an hour now. Ventilation cut off, no communication for a quarter of an hour... it's starting to get hot, passengers are getting impatient. ''We're waiting for information from our driver. 'We apologise for the inconvenience' – but still no ventilation. It's getting hotter and hotter.' Eurostar's travel updates page displayed a list of delays and cancellations starting around 7am, although problems had started on Monday. Some services on Thursday and in August were also displayed as already being cancelled. Other services missed out stops, such as the 7.26pm Brussels to London St Pancras, which did not stop at Lille.

Is Michael Sheen drowning in debt? actor talks about financial woes; says, 'I don't have that much money'
Michael Sheen , well-known for his roles in projects like 'Good Omens', 'Passengers', and the 'Twilight' franchise, has recently opened up about his financial struggles. The Welsh actor got candid about his personal life and shared how he does not have much money left and is suffering from debt. Michael Sheen opens up about financial struggles Sheen opened up about suffering financially and how he finds it 'funny' when people refer to him as a multimillionaire. The actor shared with The Times of London that 'It's interesting when people talk about me as a multimillionaire. Because no, I don't have that much money. I mean, I have money compared to lots of people, but this is about juggling debt. I'm still paying off the Homeless World Cup. It's not like I have all this spare cash. And there are times I can put money into things and times when I can't.' More about the Homeless World Cup The Homeless World Cup, where Sheen donated in 2019, is a sports tournament that is held in order to combat homelessness and to help those who are suffering from it. He also made headlines earlier this year for starting the Welsh National Theatre after the original organisation, National Theatre Wales, lost out on its funding. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 임플란트, 지금 시작하세요 [자세히 보기] 임플란트 더 알아보기 Undo The actor shared that 'Arts Council Wales gave National Theatre Wales transitional funding to either wrap up or come up with a plan for the future. And that plan ended up being me running the new organisation. There was an argument if any of that transitional funding should come with us, and that's now been resolved, so we will be in receipt of around £200,000. I am paying for everything else.' The actor also paid off around 1 million pounds of debt for approximately 900 people in South Wales. In a TV film titled 'Michael Sheen's Secret Million Pound Giveaway', the actor purchased the debt of 900 people and then paid it off by starting his debt acquisition firm. The idea came forth after Port Talbot's last blast furnace unit was shut down, resulting in massive job loss.
