1 2 Lucknow: As part of its July 9 'Paudhropan Mahabhiyan-2025', the Yogi govt will establish 'Gopal Van'—special green zones in all cow shelters across Uttar Pradesh featuring shady and fodder-rich plants. The move is part of govt efforts to ensure the availability of shade and fodder for animals residing in cow shelters. Officials said UP has about 7,608 cow shelters where Gopal Van will be established. Plantation activities will continue throughout the year with a special focus on the protection and upkeep of the plants. The govt has also urged private cowherds to participate in the effort. Under the campaign, depending on the site availability, appropriate shade-giving and fodder tree species will be planted. Robust arrangements will be made to ensure the success and protection of each Gopal Van. This initiative has received strong support from the saint community and cowherds. The Goseva Commission has also finalised its participation in the campaign. Following the launch of the campaign on July 9 by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the commission will continue plantation activities throughout the monsoon season and ensure proper care of the saplings, said Shyam Bihari Gupta, chairman of the commission.
