Telangana okays premiere, price hike for Pawan Kalyan film despite Pushpa 2 tragedy
Controversy erupted after the Telangana government permitted a special premiere and a steep hike in ticket prices for Hari Hara Veera Mallu, the upcoming film starring actor-politician Pawan comes just months after Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy declared in the Assembly that no such privileges would be allowed for films following the tragic Pushpa 2 to the state's order, the film's premiere show will take place at 9 pm on July 23, a day before its official release, with tickets priced at Rs July 24 to 27, multiplex tickets can be sold at an additional Rs 200 and single-screen tickets at an additional Rs 150. Between July 28 and August 2, the hike allowed is Rs 150 in multiplexes and up to Rs 106 in single
The approval stands in stark contrast to the Chief Minister's fiery speech in December 2024, after a promotional event for Pushpa 2 at Sandhya Theatre turned into a stampede that killed a woman and critically injured her Reddy had condemned the incident, blamed the actors for reckless crowd-pulling stunts, and declared, "Until I am Chief Minister, I will not allow any privileges to the film industry."He had also vowed to put an end to benefit and premiere shows to safeguard public safety, a stance now questioned in light of the current to the development, the film's producer AM Rathnam credited Rohin Reddy, a close aide of the Chief Minister, for securing the clearance. Speaking at an event, Rathnam said:"After the recent (Allu Arjun) incident in Telangana, we couldn't get ticket hikes and premieres. But thanks to (Revanth Reddy's close aide) Rohin Reddy, who is present here, in this event we received clearance for special show."- EndsMust Watch
