Amid Backlash, Payal Rohatgi Shares Shefali Jariwala's Throwback Post Slamming Poonam Pandey
Last Updated:
Payal Rohatgi faced backlash for allegedly mocking Shefali Jariwala, who criticised Poonam Pandey's fake death news in 2024. Payal reshared Shefali's post amid criticism.
Recently, actor and former Bigg Boss contestant Payal Rohatgi has been facing criticism for allegedly making a jibe at the late Shefali Jariwala. She posted screenshots of her exchange with a journalist, writing scathing notes on 'depression" and 'anti-ageing medication", which netizens believed to be an indirect attack on the Kaanta Laga star. Amid backlash for her remarks, Payal shared a screenshot of Shefali Jariwala's post from 2024, slamming Poonam Pandey's fake death news.
In February 2024, Poonam Pandey staged her own death, leaving the nation in fury. Shefali Jariwala, too, was one of the many celebs who slammed the 'publicity" stunt. She posted a photo with her own father from the hospital, who had been battling stage 2 colon cancer. She had written, 'Deeply saddened and hurt how some people can use CANCER for publicity. I cant believe how insensitive people are. I don't know Poonam Pandey at all, but the fake drama of her demise to cervical cancer deeply affected me. I felt so scared for my father. The last few months have been difficult as my father has been undergoing treatment for Colon Cancer – stage 3. Not being able to sleep all of last night and being anxious as f*#k makes this me so angry."
She added, 'In the name to creating awareness pls stop playing with peoples emotions! Creating awareness on a SM platform is one thing but faking your own death is so low… This is not a joke… cancer is not a joke! This Picture is from November 2023, right after his second surgery this year. Love and strength to all cancer survivors and people battling it! Don't let this cheap publicity stunt shake you. You guys are warriors."
Payal Rohatgi reshared the same as backlash for her alleged dig at Shefali Jariwala continued to mount. 'The world is a cruel place. But it's only as cruel as u let it be," wrote the 36 China Town actor on Instagram while sharing Shefali's post as an alleged clarification to the matter.
It must also be noted that Payal Rohatgi often makes headlines for her opinions on social media. In recent months, she and her husband, wrestler Sangram Singh have fuelled rumours of a marital discord. However, Sangram recently addressed the speculation, stating that the two are 'inseparable."
