Jazzablanca's wildest night yet : Caravan Palace and Black Eyed Peas bring down the house

It's Saturday night at Jazzablanca Village, the third day of this 18th edition—and the atmosphere is nothing like the two previous days. The venue is buzzing with festivalgoers, busier than ever. This time, more young people have shown up for a fiery lineup: Caravan Palace and the Black Eyed Peas. The party kicked off at Scene 21 with British jazz musician, saxophonist, composer, and bandleader Nubya Nyasha Garcia. She got things off to a powerful start with her extraordinary saxophone riffs, electrifying an audience eager to dance the night away. Caravan Palace brings electro-jazz to Casablanca Later, on the Casablanca Anfa stage, the energy reached a whole new level as Caravan Palace performed for the first time ever in Morocco. The French electro-swing band was welcomed by an enthusiastic crowd, mostly young fans, whose numbers far surpassed those of the previous two nights. They launched straight into a head-banging, jazzy set packed with saxophone, clarinet, and trombone solos. «Bonsoir Casa! You can't believe how happy we are to be here for the first time», lead singer Zoé Colotis shouted. One of the band members followed up with a message in Darija: «Salam Casa, labas? Kolchi labas? M3akom Caravan Palace! Hna ferhanine m3akom! Dima Maghrib, 3acha l'malik!» Their charisma and stage presence were magnetic. With hits like Mirrors, Wonderland and Lone Digger, the band had the entire venue clapping, jumping, and singing along. The show reached a theatrical climax with a slow-motion robot dance before diving back into a full-throttle party mode. By the end of their set, the crowd was fully fired up, and impatiently waiting for the night's headliner: The Black Eyed Peas. Morocco rocks, and so do the Peas The transition was seamless. Spectacular visuals lit up the stage as the iconic group made their entrance to deafening screams. They opened with Let's Get It Started, instantly setting the crowd in motion. The Peas powered through a high-octane set. J. Rey Soul, the group's female vocalist, took the stage with her phone in hand, capturing the roaring crowd. «We came to Morocco for one thing», said «Morocco rocks!» The crowd shouted back: «Morocco! Morocco!» From Boom Boom Pow and Pump It to Mamacita and The Time (Dirty Bit), the setlist was packed with fan favorites. «This is not the last time we're coming back», they promised. «We'll visit Marrakech, but Casablanca is the best!» The audience roared in delight, waving heart signs and phone flashlights during Where Is the Love? The whole venue pulsed with emotion and unity. A freestyle shoutout to Morocco, live guitar riffs, and multiple encores, including I Gotta Feeling, kept the party going late into the night. The evening closed with an explosion of confetti and a powerful moment as returned to the stage draped in the Moroccan flag, taking a bow with the rest of the band. That's a wrap. A night full of rhythm, emotion, and connection, Casablanca showed once again that it has the soul of a true festival city.

How to watch Summer Games Done Quick 2025

In a mad, mad world, speedruns for charity can be a calm oasis. Summer Games Done Quick (SGDQ) has your fix with the 2025 edition of the marathon. You can tune in starting on Sunday, July 6. As usual, the lineup includes loads of fun games and bonkers challenges. It's fitting that this year's lineup includes a Switch 2 game. On the event's last day, the speedrunner Peas will take on Mario Kart World on the new console. Perhaps to commemorate the new console's launch, Nintendo is everywhere at this event. There are three Zelda games on tap: Majora's Mask , Phantom Hourglass and Link's Awakening . The company's plumber mascot is peppered all over the place, too. You'll find Mario Kart: Super Circuit , Super Mario Odyssey , Mario Paint and the Super Mario World hack, Sayonara Mario World 2 . (Not done yet!) There's also Super Mario Maker 2 , Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario 64 . There's plenty of non-Nintendo stuff, too. The week kicks off with an "All Emeralds Glitched" run of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 . One of Engadget's all-time favorites, Balatro , has a run scheduled on July 11. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle makes an appearance. And two speedrunning legends will try to beat Cuphead during an allotted 35 minutes. (Say what??!) Anyone who can finish that bloodbath in less than that should be named the leader of the free world. Andy "j0kerr" Sturm / Games Done Quick The event will raise funds for Doctors Without Borders. The humanitarian nonprofit has a legion of nearly 63,000 medical personnel. It offers medical and humanitarian care in over 70 countries. Last summer's event raised $2.5 million. To date, Games Done Quick events have raised over $50 million for charity. SGDQ 2025 runs from July 6 to 13. If you're in or near Minneapolis, you can register to attend in person. Otherwise, you can stream the festivities on the SGDQ Twitch channel, which is also embedded below. This embedded content is not available in your region.

Pork fillet with crushed peas and mange-tout salad

Here, I'm using pork neck fillet instead of the more commonly known tenderloin. Neck fillet is a highly prized cut in Spain. It's beautifully marbled and, while not as tender as the tenderloin, packed with flavour. I highly recommend asking your butcher for neck fillet – it's a cut well worth seeking out. Ingredients 4x 1in-thick pork neck fillet steaks (150-180g each) 1 tsp crushed fennel seeds vegetable or corn oil 120g frozen peas 120ml vegetable stock 2 sprigs of mint 2 good knobs of butter ½ tbsp red wine vinegar 2 tbsp rapeseed oil 4 handfuls of salad leaves preferably with some pea shoots 150g sugar snap peas and mange tout, trimmed and halved into lozenges Method Step Season 4 x 1in thick pork neck fillet steaks with 1 tsp crushed fennel seeds and some salt and pepper. Step Heat and oil a ribbed griddle pan (or heavy duty pan) and cook the pork over a medium heat for about 5-7 minutes on each side. Cook the pork for a few more minutes if you prefer it a little more well done. Remove from the griddle and set aside to rest for a few minutes. Step Meanwhile, in a saucepan cook 120g frozen peas with 120ml vegetable stock for about 2 minutes. Add a couple sprigs of mint and cook for 1-2 minutes more. Drain, reserving 1-3 tbsp of the stock. Step Add the drained peas with a couple of knobs of butter to a processor and pulse briefly to crush the peas and create a rough puree – adding a little stock if necessary. Season to taste and transfer to a pan to warm back up. Step Mix ½ tbsp red wine vinegar and 2 tbsp rapeseed oil with some seasoning. Step In a large bowl, add 4 handfuls of salad leaves with 150g sugar snap peas and mangetout and toss through the dressing to coat.
