Egypt's committee on African relations discusses boosting ties, new projects
A high-level Egyptian committee tasked with monitoring relations with African nations has held its periodic meeting to discuss ways to enhance bilateral ties and explore new areas for cooperation and investment, the foreign ministry said. The meeting of the Permanent Committee for Monitoring Egyptian-African Relations was held on July 14 at the ministry's headquarters. It was chaired by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, Abou Bakr Hefny Mahmoud, and included representatives from various national ministries and bodies. In a statement, the ministry said the committee holds a series of periodic meetings to strengthen Egypt's relations with African countries, in line with presidential directives to advance these ties to broader horizons. The meeting addressed ways to enhance bilateral relations with a number of African countries, reflecting the political leadership's keenness to deepen Egyptian engagement on the continent for mutual benefit. This includes maximising economic and investment returns for Egypt and supporting African nations in implementing their national development programmes. The committee also reviewed the status of a number of ongoing projects and explored new areas for cooperation. This involves implementing new development projects and boosting cooperation in capacity building, trade, and investment, through a comprehensive approach to public-private partnerships, the statement added.

FM stresses need for fostering Egypt's presence in Africa
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held a meeting on Monday, June 16, 2025, with leaderships and members of the Office of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates as part of his regular meetings to follow up on the workflow within the foreign ministry's sectors. Such meetings are meant to enhance institutional coordination and the integration of viewpoints among different divisions. During the meeting, the minister discussed the work plan of the Permanent Committee for Monitoring Egyptian-African Relations in the coming period. He emphasized the importance of solidifying Egypt's active presence in the African arena through bilateral and multilateral cooperation mechanisms and strengthening Egypt's role in supporting development efforts and achieving security and stability across the continent, in line with national policies and directives from the political leadership. The meeting also addressed the national strategy for boosting Egyptian pharmaceutical exports. The minister stressed the need to activate economic and commercial diplomacy tools, in coordination with relevant ministries and bodies to open new markets for Egyptian products, particularly in African and Arab markets in order to support sustainable development goals and the national industry. Regarding the Red Sea file, the meeting reviewed the latest developments in the region and emphasized the importance of enhancing regional cooperation to ensure the security and stability of the Red Sea area.
