BTS' Suga warns ‘the market's not the same' as group confirms 2026 comeback and tour

BTS has officially announced their comeback during a Weverse live held on July 1. The full group — RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jin, Taehyung, Jungkook, and Jimin — joined fans for a half-hour session, talking about where they're headed as a group and finally dropping details about their long-anticipated world tour and album plans. RM shared that they're aiming for a full album release in spring next year. The livestream pulled in over 7.3 million viewers in real time. This update comes shortly after HYBE announced BTS's first live album 'Permission to Dance' release, accompanied by 'BTS Permission to Dance on Stage – Seoul' Also read: 'BTS' Suga is the Eminem of K-pop': Grammy-winning producer reveals why the West wants to work with the singer BTS has been gone for 18 months as a group, with their last live concert in 2022. It's already been three years, and while every member has launched their solo career, with a few like J-Hope and Suga even kicking off solo world tours, they're well aware the market they're returning to might not be the same. During the album announcement, the group recalled when their last proper album dropped (excluding the anthology Yet to Come) and pointed out that by the time the next one lands next year, it'll have been nearly six years. 'That's enough time for four people to finish their military service,' RM joked. 'But honestly, it doesn't feel real yet — we still have to start working on it,' Suga said. 'I have no idea how it'll turn out. We'll just have to keep talking about it for now,' Jimin added, to which Suga replied, 'The market's changed a lot in the meantime.' RM summed it up, saying it's best they 'stick together,' no matter what. 'Probably around July or August… maybe Lollapalooza, Jin's tour, and more things. There'll be a lot of individual stuff too, but we'll try our best to communicate,' RM added. This will be their first full group project since 2022's Proof album, and their first album of entirely new songs since 2020. The new album is described as something that will reflect 'each member's thoughts and ideas' and take them back to the mindset they had when they first debuted, since this comeback will pretty much mark phase two of their debut after a long break. 'We're approaching the album with the same mindset we had when we first started.' BTS V, aka Kim Taehyung, dropped an extra detail, revealing that the new album shoot is happening in America, which may or may not have been a spoiler. The group looked a bit surprised at the slip, but RM just laughed it off. Meanwhile, BTS is also gearing up for a world tour next year. 'We're also planning a world tour alongside the new album,' they said. 'We'll be visiting fans all around the world, so we hope you're as excited as we are.' Their last tour, BTS: Permission to Dance on Stage, was held after the pandemic and drew over 4 million attendees.

BTS reveal 2026 comeback plans after completing military service

BTS have confirmed that they will reunite for new music and tour next year. The seven-piece K-pop group reunited for their first collective Weverse livestream in almost three years on Tuesday and announced their plans to return to the limelight in 2026 with new music. Sitting on a couch, the Permission to Dance hitmakers said in a group statement, "We'll be releasing a new BTS album in the spring of next year. Starting in July, all seven of us will begin working closely together on new music. Since it will be a group album, it will reflect each member's thoughts and ideas. We're approaching the album with the same mindset we had when we first started." According to Billboard, they added, "We're also planning a world tour alongside the new album. We'll be visiting fans all around the world, so we hope you're as excited as we are." The group - featuring RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook - announced in June 2022 that they were going on hiatus so each member could complete their military service, which is mandatory in South Korea. The oldest member of BTS, Jin, was discharged from military service in June 2024, followed by J-Hope in October. RM and V completed their duties in mid-June this year and Jimin, Jung Kook and Suga followed later that month. Suga completed his requirement as a social service agent rather than a member of the military. To keep fans entertained while they work on new music, BTS will release their first live album, Permission to Dance on Stage - Live, on 18 July.

Kim Taehyung in Squid Game Season 3? What BTS' V has teased and why fans think 'everyone will lose their minds'

BTS' V aka Kim Taehyung in Squid Game Season 3? | Credit: X Ever since BTS' V (Kim Taehyung) teased something 'big' following his recent military discharge, fans have been pinning their hopes on the possibility of his cameo in Squid Game Season 3 . But this isn't the first time the idea has been floated. Ever since the first season became a global hit in 2021, rumours have popped up about V joining the cast, whether as a masked guard, a VIP, or something that would catch fans totally off guard. Now, with the final season dropping in just a few hours, the speculation is stronger than ever. Squid Game Season 3: What V has teased (or not) During a recent Weverse live, V mentioned that he has 'something special' coming and added, 'It's not a big deal—but to me, it's actually a huge deal.' He didn't say much more, but the vague hint was enough to send fans into a meltdown. 🐻: This is probably… Maybe if we wait a little longer, I think it'll come out.🐻: But, it's not really a big deal. Oh, but to me, it's actually a huge deal. i wonder what it is?👀 — bts memeories⁷ (@btsmemeories) June 20, 2025 That wasn't the first time he gave fans reason to wonder. Back during BTS' Permission to Dance stage in December 2021, V actually broke the internet when he showed up in full Squid Game guard costume, complete with the red jumpsuit and mask. While some thought it was just for fun, others now view it as the earliest possible hint. Thank you Squid Game for giving us Kim Taehyung aka V going viral — PEACHY 💎✨💫 (@princessp059) June 24, 2025 He's also shown love for dark thrillers and has mentioned wanting to return to acting. And then there was the now-famous dinner with director Park Chan Wook, followed by sightings with Squid Game cast member Im Si Wan, and Lee Jung Jae. While nothing has been officially confirmed, the trail of hints has only grown longer. Fans have picked up V's alleged cameo's clues Across Reddit and X (formerly Twitter), fans have been piecing together clues for months. Some noted that filming for Seasons 2 and 3 began in July 2023 and wrapped around mid-2024, just before V enlisted. That left a window wide open for a brief appearance. Even cast interviews have added fuel. When asked directly about the rumour, Lee Jung Jae (Gi Hun) gave a knowing smirk and changed the subject, while Wi Ha Joon smiled and simply said, 'No comment.' For a show built around mystery and shock, that kind of reaction only got fans more excited. Squid Game cast was asked if taehyung will join squid game next season:there's some speculations that BTS V maybe joining the cast, is there anything u can say about that? Lee jungjae:i can't tell you anything about thatHa-joon: no comment OMG?!👀 — Carolyne🌱⁷⁼¹ (@mhereonlyforbts) January 3, 2025 Why fans think it makes sense The buzz isn't just about scheduling or fan theories; some of it comes from how naturally the idea fits. V has spoken openly about wanting to act again and specifically in darker, more serious roles. He made his acting debut in the 2016 K-drama Hwarang: The Warrior Poet Youth but has been waiting for the right time to return to the screen. Fans think Squid Game, with its stylish visuals and psychological edge, is exactly his vibe. If he appears in Squid Game tomorrow... I think everyone will lose their minds😭🛐❤️#SquidGameS3 #V — Diana, 𝙩𝙝ꪜ girl (Taylor's Version)✨ (@thVscenery_95) June 26, 2025 There's also the global reach to consider. A BTS cameo, even a short one, would bring even more international attention to Squid Game, which already holds the title of Netflix's most-watched show of all time. It's a PR dream. What the showrunners and cast have said While no official confirmation has been given, Squid Game director Hwang Dong-hyuk has always been tight-lipped about casting surprises. Even in press interviews for Season 2, when asked about possible celebrity cameos, he simply smiled and said, 'You'll have to wait and see.' Meanwhile, fans have gone as far as breaking down trailers frame by frame, looking for anyone who even remotely resembles V. So far, nothing solid, but the theories keep rolling in. Why Squid Game Season 3 Episode 3 might be the one to watch If V does appear, fans believe Episode 3 is the most likely spot. That's when several new characters are introduced, including a fresh group of masked enforcers and a new inner circle of the game's organisers. Some fans also point out that V once posted '27 v2' on Instagram, which could match the Season 3 premiere date: June 27. Even if it turns out to be nothing, the possibility has given ARMYs something extra to look forward to as they wait for V's full return to music and entertainment after his enlistment. BTS is home: But why ARMY's energy just isn't the same anymore; analysing 5 factors

All seven members of BTS — Jimin, Suga, RM, J-Hope, V, Jungkook, and Jin — reunited for the group's 12th debut anniversary in Goyang, headlining a special performance to mark the FESTA event. After 18 long months, fans finally got to see their beloved idols together post-military completion, and as expected, the internet went into overdrive, with members dominating top trends. But this time, there was a noticeable shift. Solo names of the members were trending across different regions. That made us revisit some of the trends that ruled 2024 while the Dynamite singers were away serving. BTS' popularity soared during the pandemic era, their song 'Permission to Dance' and the chain reaction it sparked on social media gave hope to millions. And while the group remains a global powerhouse, pulling in 51,176 new Spotify monthly listeners on June 8, 2025, a 255.1% spike ahead of the group's return, we can't turn a blind eye to the rise of groups like Seventeen and Stray Kids, who have been making big waves worldwide. At the same time, political drift and solo stanning have also started to shake things up. Also read: BTS Jungkook's Make-Tokyo-Great-Again hat controversy forces brand to apologise after sell-out frenzy: 'The design isn't political, but…' Even the most loyal fan bases can drift over time, especially during long hiatuses. BTS has been lucky that their fans waited, but those who joined during their military enlistment may have developed strong attachments to other groups, given how aggressively these new K-pop acts are being marketed left and right. The year 2024 was widely dominated by groups like NewJeans, LE SSERAFIM, IVE, ZEROBASEONE, RIIZE, BOYNEXTDOOR, BABYMONSTER, ILLIT, SEVENTEEN, who have carved their own niche and further diversified the K-pop scene. K-pop didn't conquer the world overnight. Groups like GOT7, BigBang, Girls' Generation, they all hustled for years just to get a foot in the global door. Fast forward to now, new K-pop groups debut, and before you even learn their names, they're blowing up worldwide. They're smartly riding the global tracks BTS laid down, testing the waters, tapping into the western crowd, and turning that into real commercial success. Also read: BTS loses global dominance to rising K-pop stars who just beat Kendrick Lamar and Billie Eilish in album sales Scanning social media and coming across posts where fans have openly voiced issues with HYBE made us realise how the political scene can slowly tear a fandom apart. Awareness around geopolitical issues, especially the Israel-Palestine conflict and the Ukraine-Russia war, with calls for artists and agencies to take a stand, has created further imbalance. 2024 was frequently dominated by trends like the #HYBEDivestFromZionism campaign, where fans openly called for a boycott of the K-pop agency and its artists over ties with Scooter Braun. HYBE extended its American wing under Braun, who once managed artists like Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber, but his political leanings have divided the fandom, with some even saying they'll only support BTS if the group disassociates from the Bang Si Hyuk-led agency. If there's one thing old BTS fans have always feared, it's solo stanning overpowering the OT7 aura. All seven members kicked off their solo careers before enlisting (Jungkook's Golden, RM's Indigo, Jimin's Face, J-Hope's Hope on the Street Vol. 1, V's Layover, Suga's D-Day, Jin's Happy) and while each release topped charts at different points, adding weight to BTS as a whole, it also opened the door for some fans to lean harder toward individual members, which can, at times, dilute the collective group focus. Hollywood Reporter crowned SEVENTEEN the most popular and biggest K-pop group globally in 2024, standing shoulder to shoulder with names like Taylor Swift and Drake. Their Asia tour (2023–2024) raked in a staggering $98.4 million from just 24 shows, clinching the title for the highest-grossing K-pop tour of the year. Happy Birthday sold over 2.2 million copies on day one. Though all this happened during BTS's absence, it's hard to overlook how SEVENTEEN's album sales have constantly drawn comparisons to the septet, even surpassing the, in several major categories. They left behind heavyweights like The Weeknd, Billie Eilish, and Kendrick Lamar. HYBE has lately been wrestling with its subsidiaries, especially ADOR. The clash with ex-CEO Min Hee Jin triggered the collapse of one of the agency's brightest stars, NewJeans, a group many believed had the potential to mirror BLACKPINK's global reign. Debuting in 2022, they stormed the charts within a year, headlined major stages, and bagged luxury brand deals like clockwork. Some even called them the 'female BTS.' But the dramatic fallout, with the group now locked in a bitter fight to cut ties with the agency, forced them into a hiatus, dangerously close to disbandment. While some BTS fans have stood by NewJeans in solidarity, others remain loyal to HYBE.
