Woman faces psychiatric evaluation over fake royal marriage TikTok post
KUALA LUMPUR: The Sessions Court has ordered a 43-year-old masseuse to undergo psychiatric evaluation after she allegedly posted a fake marriage certificate involving herself and a royal family member on TikTok. Judge Norma Ismail granted the prosecution's request for Persana Avril Sollunda to be observed for one month at Hospital Bahagia in Tanjong Rambutan, Perak. Deputy public prosecutor Ravendejit Kaur sought the evaluation to obtain a psychiatric report before proceeding with the case. The accused's lawyer, Mehgalaa Rajendran, did not oppose the application. The court set August 19 for the next mention. Persana Avril was charged under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for uploading a video on TikTok via the account ' The post, made on February 25, displayed a fabricated marriage certificate between a royal and Crown Princess Ratu Shana. (Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : The Kuala Lumpur sessions court has ordered a woman accused of posting content featuring a fake marriage certificate involving a member of royalty to undergo psychiatric observation. Judge Norma Ismail made the order following an application by deputy public prosecutor Ravendejit Kaur to obtain a mental health report on the accused, Persana Avril Sollunda, before the proceedings continue. Norma ordered the 43-year-old former model to be placed under medical observation at Hospital Bahagia in Tanjung Rambutan, Perak, for one month. 'The court allows the accused to receive treatment and undergo a full psychiatric evaluation,' Utusan Malaysia quoted her as saying. The court has set Aug 19 for the next mention of the case. Persana was represented by R Mehgalaa, who did not object to the application. Last month, Persana pleaded not guilty to a charge of knowingly uploading a post featuring a fabricated marriage certificate purportedly showing a union between Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim and a so-called 'Crown Princess' Ratu Shana. The charge, under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 [Act 588] and punishable under Section 233(3) of the same law, provides a maximum fine of RM500,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or both, upon conviction, and may be fined a further RM5,000 for each day or part of a day the offence continues after conviction. Judge Norma Ismail allowed the woman bail of RM10,000 with one surety and an order for her to report to a police station once a month pending disposal of the case. The court set July 17 for mention. The court had issued a warrant of arrest against Persana Avril last May 22 when she failed to turn up to face the charge.
