Roman's floral maxi dress makes shoppers 'look like they've lost weight'
Roman Originals is selling a floral maxi dress that's perfect for summer - and customers are praising it for giving them a 'nicer shape' As the mercury rises, style fans are on the hunt for the perfect summer dress. Several high-street favourites have unveiled their relaxed styles, but a piece from Roman Originals has truly grabbed our attention. This particular floral maxi dress hits the right note for park picnics or seaside trips – it's even suitable as wedding guest attire for any upcoming nuptials. Plus, it's currently more pocket-friendly, priced at £38, down from its original price of £48, with the discount already applied online. The outfit features short sleeves, offering some coverage, an eye-catching shirred waist, and a tassel tie detail. There's even a modest slit in the skirt for that extra bit of breeziness. When it comes to dressing it up, the options are endless. However, it's flying off the shelves, with a few sizes already sold out. Enhance the look with sparkling heels and gold accessories for formal occasions, or opt for ballet pumps and statement shades for laid-back garden get-togethers. If your size isn't available, Phase Eight also offers a fantastic range, including this floral maxi dress (£109, originally £189) with long sleeves for a similar feel to the Roman ensemble, reports Nottinghamshire Live. For something different yet equally enchanting, Joe Browns showcases a stunning floral knee-length number at £48, available in both petite and regular fits. It's designed to highlight the waist and features a delightful V-neckline. Praise for the light blue version of Roman's maxi dress has flooded in from customers. One delighted shopper commented: "It's a lovely colour, and the material keeps you cool in this hot weather." Another thrilled buyer shared their glowing review, stating: "I love this dress. It fits my size 16, hangs nicely, and looks good with my trainers." Another satisfied customer expressed their delight: "I just love this dress - I feel amazing in it. When you are a larger person, as I am, it isn't easy to find something you like. "The dress flows and gives me a nicer shape. Everyone thought I looked amazing and that I had lost some weight." However, not all reviews were positive. One purchaser described their disappointment: "I loved this dress but was very disappointed with the length. It was far too long." In complete contrast, an ecstatic Roman shopper gushed about their buy: "(The dress is) beautiful, a wonderful fit, and a perfect length. I'm 5ft 7ins. When you put on the dress, you feel amazing. It's a dress that can be worn for any occasion."

Christine Lampard wore the perfect 'no iron' dress on Loose Women
The Phase Eight frock is a gorgeous piece for summer, designed for all-day comfort in this year's most popular colour If there's one thing we know for certain, it's that Christine Lampard's outfits never fail to leave us swooning. And her latest Loose Women outfit is no exception, with the presenter looking summer-ready in the 'it-colour' of the season. Brightening up our screens on Monday morning, the brunette beauty anchored the lunchtime show in a Phase Eight frock - a brand popular with presenters like Lorraine Kelly and Susanna Reid. The 46-year-old wore the Cady Buttermilk dress in a trending, soft pale yellow hue, which is undeniably one of the most popular shades on the high street this summer. The dress comes in at £119 and is perfect not just for occasions like graduations, weddings or the races, but also for holidays and weekends, too. It's ideal for the warm weather, made from 100% cotton for a light and airy feel, while the sleeveless design makes it breathable to prevent overheating. Made from a lightweight seersucker fabric, it requires little ironing, making it a great pick for the suitcase. And the shirred bodice and waist means it hugs the figure, but remains comfortable all day thanks to its stretchy nature. The dress comes in sizes 6 to 20 and looks to be selling quickly - no doubt that will be accelerated by Christine's endorsement of the summery number. The only thing we think it's missing is some side seam pockets, which would have been the icing on the cake. Elsewhere comes in at £65. It has a soft, fitted top and flows to a light, airy skirt, complete with bra-friendly straps and side pockets. Alternatively, this ASOS DESIGN summer maxi dress with full skirt in lemon comes in at £28. Dropped waists are also trending this summer, and this purse-friendly pick ticks several style boxes for summer. For another celebrity favourite, though, last week Cat Deeley wore Boden's Halter Linen Dress, which comes in at £146. Made in an 80% breathable linen fabric with a hint of recycled cotton, it's finished with a smocked back panel for a little extra give. And the Phase Eight dress isn't the only of Christine's recent looks we've been coveting. Last week, she wore the Pleated Corset Sleeveless Dress from Michelle Keegan's Very collection, which is currently on sale down from £70 to £56 saving £14. The structured shape and soft white colour were a great nod to the Wimbledon whites trend that's still dominating following the major tournament. But for her recent Phase Eight dress in the season's trending hue, it's available in most sizes here.

Our fashion team's guide to the best high street occasionwear
Be the best-dressed guest at any formal event this summer with our top pick of occasionwear dresses and two pieces from Phase Eight, Karen Millen, Coast and more Summer occasionwear season is well underway, and with race days, weddings, and garden parties peeking round every corner, it can be hard to know what to wear. That's why our fashion team is here to help you out with some inspiration. From Newmarket-ready florals to designer-looking pleats and chic matching sets, we've found the very best occasionwear style pieces from the likes of Karen Millen, Coast and Phase to mention the finishing touches, from fascinators to clutch bags and heels, here's everything you need to get through the season, without spending a fortune! FLORAL FANCY A great way to get the most bang for you buck when it comes to occasionwear dressing is to go a matching set over a dress. This way you can mix and match the two items with other pieces in your wardrobe to create even more looks. Make sure to finish of your looks with a statement fascinator if you want that extra drama. SHOP THE LOOK: Garden Floral Twill Bow Detail Top, £85 here and Garden Floral Twill Bow Woven Prom Skirt, £129 here, both Karen Millen, and Red Flower Pillbox, Phase Eight, £49 here. LAVENDAR HAZE Of course classic dainty florals are always in, especially when it comes to occasionwear. But if you're looking to give florals a 2025 update, opt for 3D applique's instead. They're fun, dramatic and plaful, and add a fashionable twist to any dress. PLEATS PLEASE If you want to look expensive, always opt for pleats. In our opinion, they're the best way to level up your look and give off an Issey Miyake vibe. Although butter yellow has been all the rage this year, we love the deeper, golden tone of this gorgeous maxi from Phase Eight. FRINGE BENEFITS If you want to add a little extra zhuzh to your occasionwear look, why not go for some fringing? We love this mint green halter neck dress from Coast, thanks to its interesting fringe detail and gorgeous sorbet shade. Finish the look off with a contrasting colour fascinator and jewelled bag. MAXI-MUM STYLE As we mentioned above, florals are a fool-proof option that always look chic and classy. This long sleeve maxi from ASOS is ideal if you're looking for something a little more modest, or want to protect your arms and legs from the summer sun.

‘Can't wait to wear it!' rave fan of Phase Eight jumpsuit that's perfect for Ascot Race Day 2025
LADIES DAY at Royal Ascot 2025, and shoppers have found the perfect race day outfit. As part of Phase Eight's The Goodwood Edit, this stylish piece is the perfect blend of equestrian-chic and comfortable for a day spent outdoors. Maxine Spot Chiffon Jumpsuit, £149 Royal Ascot officially kicks off on June 17, ending on June 21. Those still hunting for the perfect outfit should look no further than the Maxine Spot Chiffon Jumpsuit from Phase Eight. Although you'll see high fashion throughout all of Ascot, Ladies' Day (June 19) is its own thing entirely. This elegant Phase Eight jumpsuit is perfect for race day glamour with a contemporary twist. The floaty one-piece is quickly becoming a must-have for race day wardrobes, with one shopper raving that they 'can't wait to wear it.' The jumpsuit retails for £149 and is available in petite and regular lengths in sizes from 6 to 20. Boasting latte-toned spots, the print is timeless and easily dressed up with accessories. The chiffon fabric adds movement and a sense of occasion, while the wrap-style bodice and tie belt help to cinch the waist in, and the wide-leg silhouette flatters in all the right places. Maxine Spot Chiffon Jumpsuit, £149 One fan gave the chiffon jumpsuit a glowing 5-star review, writing: "I love Phase Eight jumpsuits; they fit my proportions perfectly, and this one is no exception. "Lovely for a summer wedding paired with the Olivia jacket, which will take me from the service to the reception and evening with ease. I can't wait to wear it." A second happy shopper noted: "I bought the outfit for a wedding, and I also brought the matching hat. It feels and looks more expensive than it actually was." While a third buyer shared: "A beautiful jumpsuit, everything I expected from Phase Eight, great fit, and it's very comfortable to wear, I bought it for a family wedding, worth every penny." Sun Shopping fashion writer Sophies Bates has also recommended the Phase Eight wedding guest dresses on her summer wishlist. Can you wear a jumpsuit to Ascot? Yes, Ascot's official dress code allows for jumpsuits, provided they fall within the guidelines (having straps, skirts falling below the knee, etc). For the Royal Enclosure, jumpsuits should be full-length and have straps of one inch or greater. In the Queen Anne and Village Enclosures, jumpsuits are also welcome as long as they're smart and appropriate for a formal day event. Chiffon is also permitted, making the Maxine Spot Chiffon Jumpsuit an option that ticks all the right boxes. How strict is the dress code at Ascot? Ascot is famous for its formal dress codes, especially in the Royal Enclosure. This means dresses above the knee are a no-go, as are strapless numbers or anything sheer. Modest looks that are tailored and elegant are encouraged. Although rules have relaxed in recent years, smart daywear is still essential. No formal dress code applies during the Jumps season. Do you have to wear a hat to Ladies Day at Ascot? While each enclosure will have its own dress code, it is generally a rule of thumb for ladies to wear a hat, headpiece or fascinator at all times. For men, it varies, but in the Royal Enclosure, men must wear a black, grey, or navy top hat with morning dress. Shoppers looking for a gorgeous new bag this summer should look at New Look's dupe of the Chloé straw bag - and it's £650 cheaper.
