Top IIE law graduate bags 43 distinctions and national honour medal
Unmatched academic excellence, sheer determination, and a passion for justice have placed Ulrich van Zyl at the top of his class, both campus-wide and nationally.
The IIE's Varsity College Sandton LLB graduate has earned the title of top achiever of the Class of 2024, achieving 43 distinctions in all 43 modules and maintaining a remarkable 91% average throughout his degree.

Van Zyl's efforts have also earned him the prestigious Phatshoane Henney Honour Medal, awarded to South Africa's top-performing law graduates who have demonstrated exceptional academic and ethical standards.
Van Zyl said: 'I am truly honoured. These awards reflect four years of hard work, but they also belong to my parents and the incredible lecturers who supported me at every turn.'
The IIE's Varsity College Sandton, part of The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE), has lauded Van Zyl's achievement as a milestone.
Campus head Kimberly McIntyre noted: 'Ulrich is the embodiment of what happens when passion meets purpose. He is not only brilliant but grounded and determined to make a difference.'
