Party atmosphere as Newtown Football Club hits 150 years
THERE was a carnival atmosphere as Newtown Football Club invited the community to Latham Park to celebrate the club's 150th anniversary on Saturday.
Hundreds of football fans made the pilgrimage and played their part in a successful event.
Many of the club's living legends were also on hand to meet fans and catch up on old times.
Junior matches took centre stage in the morning as the future of Newtown Football Club entertained before Newtown Football Club's newly-formed women's senior team took on Berriew.
The main action of the day saw Newtown take on AFC Liverpool with the Merseyside club edging a 1-0 win.
Live music, a bouncy castle and entertainment from Newtown Silver Band ensured a day not to be forgotten as fans of all ages left Latham Park with a smile on their faces.
The club also marked the tragic death of Liverpool star Diogo Jota with two minute's of applause in front of a Liverpool shirt which was lovingly placed on the Latham Park turf before the afternoon's final match.
