Man left seriously injured after being stabbed in Piccadilly Gardens with four police tents in place
Two men have been arrested after a man was stabbed during a 'fight' in Piccadilly Gardens. A large police cordon with four tents inside remains in place in the city centre square this morning. Police said they were first called to reports of a fight in the gardens at 9pm last night (Sunday, July 28). He was taken to hospital where he remains this morning. Two men have been arrested. A 19-year-old is being questioned on suspicion of assault with a 23-year-old man also in custody after being held on suspicion of affray. A huge cordon stretching round a large swathe of the gardens remains in place this morning. It begins near the MCR Live hub, a pop-up bar for the Oasis concerts that had the Lionesses football game on last night. The main walkway through the centre of the gardens is also taped off with the cordon stretching around to the Market Street side of the square. There are four forensic tents which have been erected inside, two close to the tram tracks and two in the street food village. Officers are currently standing guard. Trams and buses are still running past the scene. A GMP spokesperson said: "Officers were called to reports of a fight in Piccadilly Gardens at around 9pm last night (Sunday 27 July 2025). "A 23-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries. "Two men were arrested - a 19-year-old on suspicion of assault and a 23-year-old on suspicion of affray. "They are both in custody. "A scene is still in place this morning whilst officers conduct their enquiries."

Police make huge find after searching 'suspicious' man in Piccadilly Gardens
Police made a huge find after stopping and searching a 'suspicious' man in Piccadilly Gardens on Saturday night (July 26). Officers were on patrol in the city centre as part of GMP's Operation Custodian when they identified a man in the gardens. The force said he was 'behaving suspiciously'. After he was approached, he was then searched which later revealed a number of small snap bags and a quantity of cocaine. Two men in hospital after Piccadilly Gardens double stabbing
Two men have been stabbed in Manchester city centre, police have services were called to Piccadilly Gardens just after midnight following reports of an ongoing disturbance in which weapons were found two men - one in his 20s, the other in his 30s - with stab Manchester Police (GMP) said both men were taken to hospital. The force said one was in a critical condition while the other was receiving "ongoing treatment". GMP said its investigation was "ongoing" and that no arrests have been made.A Section 60 order has been approved within the ring road between Great Ancoats Street and Trinity Way, and Irwell Street between Trinity Way and New Quay gives officers extended powers to stop and search individuals within the order will be in place until 00:53 BST on Friday. Urgent appeal issued to find missing girl, 14, last seen in Piccadilly Gardens
People are being urged to look out for a missing teenage girl who was last seen in Manchester city centre. Greater Manchester Police says Maisie was last seen in Piccadilly Gardens on Saturday, June 14. An urgent appeal to find the 14-year-old, from Lincolnshire, has been issued this morning (June 16). Maisie is described as being white, 5ft 5ins tall and of slim build. She has dark hair and a nose piercing. Her surname has not been given by GMP. A force spokesperson added: "Officers are becoming increasingly concerned about Maisie and want to make sure she is safe and well." Two images of Maisie have been released by police this morning as they ask for help finding her. Anyone who sees Maisie or has any information on her whereabouts is urged to come forward as soon as possible.
