Florida Governor Ron DeSantis shocks viewers with 'off duty' new look

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was seen sporting a larger frame as he toured a detention center. DeSantis appeared on Fox News alongside Steve Doocy to show off his new 'Alligator Alcatraz', a detention center to house immigrants in the Sunshine State. Wearing a black short sleeved shirt, slim fitting jeans and aviators, DeSantis appeared stockier than he has been in previous years as he toured the facility. The 46-year-old was noticeably slimmer while campaigning for the presidency last year. The gain was picked up by one social media user, who commented on the clip saying: 'Ron needs to lose some weight'. DeSantis had previously spoke about his secret to weight loss, telling Piers Morgan in an interview on Fox that his trick was to avoid sugar. Speaking in 2023, he said: 'I think the sugar is the biggest issue, because basically if you do sugar, your body burns sugar. If you don't, it burns fat.' The governor also highlighted the importance of 'working out and just eating halfway decent'. The weight gain was picked up by one social media user New York Times writer Maggie Haberman claimed in her book 'Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and The Breaking of America, that Trump had previously called DeSantis fat in private conversations. DeSantis was questioned about those remarks by Morgan, saying: 'It's interesting, there are a lot of people when they go at you, sometimes they have really good ammunition. 'Like you're a crook. You did this. You did that for me. So for me, they're talking about pudding. Like, is that really the best you got? Okay, bring it on.' As part of his appearance on Fox with Doocy, DeSantis said his detention center would start processing people who entered the US illegally as of next week. He said: 'The state of Florida is all in on President Trump's mission. There needs to be more ability to intake, process and deport.' Environmental groups have filed a federal lawsuit against the site, in the heart of the Everglades, to block it being opened. The lawsuit seeks to halt the project until it undergoes a stringent environmental review as required by federal and state law. There is also supposed to be a chance for public comment, according to the lawsuit filed in Miami federal court. Critics have condemned the facility as a cruel and inhumane threat to the ecologically sensitive wetlands. The lawsuit names several federal and state agencies as defendants, including the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Florida Division of Emergency Management. Eve Samples, Friends of the Everglades executive director, in a news release: 'This site is more than 96% wetlands, surrounded by the Big Cypress National Preserve, and is habitat for the endangered Florida panther and other iconic species. 'This scheme is not only cruel, it threatens the Everglades ecosystem that state and federal taxpayers have spent billions to protect.' A spokesman for the Governor said: 'Governor Ron DeSantis has insisted that Florida will be a force multiplier for federal immigration enforcement, and this facility is a necessary staging operation for mass deportations located at a pre-existing airport that will have no impact on the surrounding environment.'

Morgan appeared to get under Paul's skin when he called out Paul's boxing resume and 11-1 record. 'The only proper boxer you've fought was Tommy Fury and he beat you,' the Brit said. He then referred to Paul's controversial bout with boxing icon Mike Tyson, who was 58 years old when he stepped into the ring last November, and Canelo Alvarez, a longtime rumoured potential opponent for Paul. 'Peak Tyson you wouldn't have lasted 10 seconds … Canelo Alvarez says he would potentially kill you.' Jake Paul spars with Piers Morgan over boxing credibility, abruptly ends interview

Jake Paul returns to the ring this weekend for the first time since he defeated legendary boxer Mike Tyson in a sanctioned fight last November, but the YouTuber-turned-fighter continues to face scrutiny over his choice of opponents. That criticism came to a head during Paul's appearance on the "Piers Morgan Uncensored" show on Thursday when Morgan criticized Paul for his boxing match against the 58-year-old former heavyweight champion, which he called in an earlier segment "sickening." "It's entertainment, man. If Mike Tyson wants to fight you, of course you're going to say yes," Paul, who was promoting his fight on Saturday against former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., said. "He walked away with tens of millions of dollars to support his family for the rest of their lives, and we made the biggest fight in history. So 128 million people would disagree with you that it wasn't something amazing." Morgan commended Paul from a business standpoint, but questioned the validity of Paul's career for choosing fighters beyond their prime. "As a businessman, you are brilliant. I give you full credit for that. When you took on Mike Tyson – as a business enterprise, there's no argument, you absolutely crushed the numbers, crushed the money and everything else. But the idea that you can say on the one hand, 'I'm a killer, I get in the ring with the best people,' and you get in the ring with a guy who's literally nearly as old as me." Paul disagreed, adding that the failed talks with Canelo Alvarez, the current undisputed super middleweight champion, was not for a lack of effort. "I don't know what you guys want to see. I tried to fight Canelo, he ducked out of it. You asked him about that. You said he's going to kill me, so what do you want, Piers? "You're the problem here with this whole situation and criticism of my career. I'm trying to fight the best people," he continued. "You can sit there and make up s---, but you don't know your facts. I've fought multiple boxers with professional records, including Mike Tyson himself." The discussion ramped up when Morgan claimed that Paul would not have survived a fight against Iron Mike in his prime, prompting the social media star to launch a personal attack at the host. "And you versus going to the gym, you're still a fat a--," he quipped. "We can make up hypotheticals. You should go to the gym." "I think the problem here, Piers, is that you think that your opinion matters," he continued, but was quickly interrupted by Morgan who asked why he would appear on his show then. "I'm just taking your audience to sell pay-per-views. I don't give a f--- about your show, you dumba--. This is a f---ing business enterprise," Paul said before quickly ending the video call. Paul will fight Chavez, 39, in Anaheim, California, on Saturday night. Chavez last fought in 2021 and is more than a decade removed from his title run. Boxing Jake Paul hangs up on Piers Morgan in heated interview

Don't miss out on the headlines from Boxing/MMA. Followed categories will be added to My News. Jake Paul dramatically cut short his interview with Piers Morgan after the host questioned his boxing career. The former YouTube star, who will enter the ring with Mexican Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. this weekend in Anaheim, California, was a guest on Piers Morgan Uncensored on Thursday to promote the fight when the discussion became heated. UFC 317 Topuria vs Oliveira | SUN 29 JUN 12PM AEST | One of the biggest fight cards of the year has arrived. Spain's Ilia Topuria looks to capture the vacant lightweight title against former champion, Charles Oliveira | Order Now with Main Event on Kayo Sports. 'He's a dumba** and so it's going to be apparent on Saturday when he's the one that gets knocked out. I'm being so honest, man, this guy is easy work,' Paul told Morgan of Chavez Jr via video link. 'People don't realise, I'm a real killer. I really f***ing do this sh*t. 'YouTube, this YouTube, Disney that.' This sh*t is not a joke. The interview went off to a bad start with Piers Morgan calling Jake Paul's headwear 'blatant cultural appropriation'. 'I'm knocking out the best of the best, beating all of these people time and time again. 'And it's about time, that you old heads and all these f***ing boxers who think they know about the sport, put some respect on my name.' Among the boxers Paul defeated via unanimous decision was former champion Mike Tyson, who was 58 when they fought last year in Texas. The fight was streamed on Netflix at the time and a whopping 65 million people tuned in. 'I think you're a great YouTuber, a great influencer. I admire what you try to do in boxing,' Morgan said. 'But I do think when you actually come up against a proper, serious boxer, and I suspect that Julio César Chévez Jr may be that person, it could all come crashing down.' When the British journalist added that Paul, 28, would never have defeated 58-year-old Tyson when he was in his prime, saying 'you wouldn't have lasted 10 seconds', the young boxer got defensive. 'You don't actually know that! You can't sit there and say that. I think anything is possible,' Paul hit back. 'That's why self-belief is the most powerful thing in the world. You don't think I can be a Mike Tyson? I don't think you go to the gym!' Following some back-and-forth insults, Paul hung up on Morgan, who found the entire segment hilarious. Despite Morgan insisting he had been to the gym twice that week, Paul continued his rant, saying: 'You're still a fat a**. 'I think the problem here, Piers, is that you think that your opinion matters,' he said. 'I'm just taking your audience to sell pay per views. I don't give a f**k about your show, dumb a**. 'This is a f**king business enterprise. Buy the pay per view on Saturday, June 28, me versus Julio César Chávez Jr. Thank you, tune in everybody!' And with that, he was out, leaving Morgan to laugh about what just transpired. 'Cheers Jake, really enjoyed that, and good luck to Julio – knock him out for all of us will you?'
