Audiences destroyed theatres after watching Agneepath; Amitabh Bachchan had to solve the issue overnight: Abhishek Bachchan recalls
Amitabh Bachchan took a long hiatus from the movies in the 1980s after he started his journey in politics. However, his stint in politics was terminated midway, but he discovered that the film industry had evolved tremendously, and wasn't ready to take big bets on him. It was during this phase that Bachchan appeared in Mukul Anand's film Agneepath, where he played the role of a man who chooses the path of crime to avenge his family's honour. While playing Vijay Deenanath Chauhan, Amitabh tried something new; he decided to dub his character in a distinct voice, but the audience wasn't having it. In a new interview, his son, Abhishek Bachchan, recalled that Amitabh had to redub the entire film in one night after the release, because the audience outright rejected his experiment. In a chat with India Today, Abhishek said, 'I remember sitting with my father watching him re-dub Agneepath in one night.' Abhishek said that 'when the film released, they started getting reports that people were breaking the sound systems at the theatres because they said, 'What happened to Amitabh Bachchan's voice?' They thought the speakers were off.' Amitabh is known for his baritone, and so, it was probably difficult for them to accept a new voice. In fact, the early reviews of the film, including that of trade analyst Komal Nahta, also criticised Bachchan's voice. 'I remember Friday night, he went into the dubbing studio and I sat with him and I fell asleep, I was very young. He spent the entire night re-dubbing the entire film in his normal voice. And Saturday, 8 am, he walked out of there. Mukul Anand took those cans for mixing and by Saturday night, they were sending those prints everywhere with the new voice,' he recalled. Despite these efforts, Agneepath didn't work at the box office but it fetched Amitabh his first National Film Award for Best Actor. Later, he won the same award for Black, Paa and Piku. He holds the most Best Actor award wins by a male actor.

After Ajay Devgn and Kajol, actor Sonakshi Sinha has voiced her support for Deepika Padukone's eight-hour shift demand. In a recent interview, Sonakshi said she fully supports the idea. The eight-hour shift became an active debate after the Piku actor allegedly walked out of Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit after he refused to agree to her terms. Speaking to India Today, Sonakshi supported Deepika's decision to walk away from Spirit. She said, 'I don't even know if it is true or not. But if it is, it's a very fair reason.' The actor added, 'I have worked with actors who don't work beyond eight hours. So, I don't see why it should be any different for female actors as well.' While she backed Deepika Padukone, Sonakshi Sinha also admitted that different projects have different needs. 'It also depends on the requirements of the project and all. You can schedule it in a way where you accommodate those hours. There are a lot of other things to shoot with other people, which you can finish off in the same time. I think it's very achievable.' See inside pics Taking her own example, Sonkashi shared that she has been in the industry for over 15 years and in these years she has come across actors who have both worked more and less than her. She added, 'But you do need time for yourself beyond shoot as well. If I am doing a film where I am required to be extremely fit, I need those two hours to go to the gym. Well, if you put me on set for 12 to 14 hours, I won't be able to do it.' Deepika Padukone reportedly exited Spirit after director Sandeep Reddy Vanga declined her requests for an eight-hour workday, a share in the film's profits, and not having to deliver her dialogues in Telugu. She was later replaced by Animal actress Triptii Dimri.

Madhoo expressed, "Deepika is a new mother; she needs time, and she asked for it. The person on the other side didn't accept, so that didn't work out. If Deepika wanted the movie so bad, and was willing to make other arrangements, she would have accepted it—but she did not, and that's her personal choice." Deepika Padukone's exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit Reportedly, Padukone had demanded 6 to 8 hours of work per day. She had also asked for a higher salary and a share of the profits. The demands didn't sit well with Sandeep Reddy Vanga, resulting in the Tamasha actress's exit from the project. Vanga later announced that Triptii Dimri would play the female lead opposite Prabhas in the movie. The upcoming cop action drama is currently in the pre-production stage and will be released in 2026.
