Filipino Students Showcase First Dressmaking Project
Filipino dressmaking students proudly presented their first creative project—a balloon skirt—during their third hands-on training session at the Majestic Hotel in Bahrain. The project marked a significant milestone for the trainees enrolled in the Pinay Ikaw Na (PIN) dressmaking training programme, which is run in collaboration with the Philippine Embassy, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and the Migrant Workers Office (MWO). The unique outfits demonstrated the students' perseverance, creativity, and growing technical mastery in fashion design and creation. Having become proficient in the skirt expose technique, participants have now moved on to pattern making and cutting square pants, a more complex garment design. The project encouraged trainees to incorporate their own personal interpretations of modern fashion trends, showcasing not only skill but also artistic expression. Personal Journey of Growth Among the most motivated trainees is Cristina Coscolluela, a 58-year-old from Miag-aon, Iloilo, who currently resides in Bahrain with her daughter and youngest son. The training marks the sixth batch of the ongoing PIN programme, which empowers Filipino women in Bahrain with sustainable skills and career opportunities in the fashion industry.

Dinah Sta Ana leads with compassion to serve Filipino community
When the COVID-19 pandemic struck the Kingdom of Bahrain, it had profound implications on the nation's health, as well as its economy. In the midst of such uncertainty and tribulation, Dinah Sta Ana, a 65-year-old leader of the Pinay Ikaw Na (PIN) women's group in Bahrain, stood above the challenge and surpassed expectations by becoming a shining light of hope. She went the extra mile in rendering aid to expatriates regardless of class and status including her fellow countrymen. Dinah's commitment to offering support to the needy amidst such trying situations put her on the forefront of community action be it distributing food packs, providing much-needed things, or simply listening to lend an ear, she displayed extraordinary empathy and leadership. Her services not only added beauty to the daily lives of many but also infused the oneness and defiance to the community at a time when they needed it the most. Her selfless deed relieved a hard situation, and her commitment to assisting others was clear. Philanthropy The crisis sent Dinah surfing on a tide of philanthropy, exercising her charitable bicep during economic hard times. She directed her activities towards supporting Filipino contract workers in industries most affected by the crisis, among them tourism and hospitality. These were beauticians, barbers, hotel staff, waitresses, gym trainers, and massage therapists, all of whom were severely impacted by the crisis. Recognizing their struggles, Dinah took action to provide assistance, ensuring that these workers received the support they needed to navigate difficult times. Commitment Her commitment to uplifting those who were most affected demonstrated her deep empathy and understanding of the community's needs. The sense of accomplishment that she felt while distributing goods to our fellow kababayans at the height of the pandemic was overwhelming. 'I feel good about it whether in small ways or great ones it is the effort that is fulfilling, I was overcome with emotions and I found tears in my eyes. There is a spirituality in what I did that has taken me over completely,' Dinah related. Personal capacity Through her personal capacity, she donated financial assistance to overseas workers for their air tickets who have not been fortunate enough to find good employment and took the last resort of having to go back to our country penniless. Dinah quietly worked behind the scenes, selflessly helping those in need and generously giving her personal resources without seeking recognition or fanfare. Unlike others who often broadcast their contributions to the community, Dinah preferred to operate in humility, focusing on the impact of her actions rather than the accolades.

Focus on essential healthcare updates for Filipinos
A town hall meeting on PhilHealth services and updates took place on May 30, 2025, at the Sentro Rizal, Philippine Embassy, Manama offering essential information to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and members of the Filipino community. Among the organizations represented during the discussion were Good Cause Bahrain, led by Antonette Guese Avila; Pinay Ikaw Na (PIN), headed by its president Dinah Sta. Ana; LBC Express Bahrain, represented by Dhela Solidad; Alpha Kappa Rho International Humanitarian Service Fraternity and Sorority – Juffair Chapter; and the Filipino Writers' Circle (Filwrite) president, Cecil Ancheta. The event high lighted the government's dedication to supporting its citizens abroad by keeping them informed about their healthcare benefits. It was attended by Her Excellency Anne Jalando-on Louis, Philippine Ambassador to Bahrain, along with embassy officials, including Administrative Officer, Mr. Virgilio Pasive Jr. and Ms. Cellia V. Cabadonga, Officer-in-Charge of the Migrant Workers Office (MWO). In her address, Ambassador Louis thanked all the guest specially the Filipino community members, for showing up, even on a Friday, which is usually a day off for many. Under the PhilHealth presentation topic, she emphasized the value of information sharing. She asked audience to use the facts they gained from the session and relay it to their respective communities. This appeal helped to highlight the ripple effect of awareness, hoping that by sharing the information, more people would be enabled to access PhilHealth effectively and appeal for their health care needs. Overseas employment Realizing the temporary nature of overseas employment, Ambassador Louis advised OFWs to regularly keep themselves enrolled in OWWA, PhilHealth, SSS, and Pag-IBIG. Foreign employment may have an advantage of being able to earn immediately, but it is also essential to spend on saving for the future. Active participation in these top-priority Philippine institutions provides OFWs with access to vital benefits. The visiting delegation from the Philippines was led by Mr. Gregorio C. Ana, president of Pinay Ikaw Na (PIN). The occasion recognised her lasting dedication to leadership, service, and empowerment of Filipino migrant workers in Bahrain. The event was held at Al Maha Ballroom, Downtown Rotana, Manama, and was graced by the presence of Philippine Ambassador to Bahrain, Her Excellency Anne Jalando-on Louis. Under Sta. Ana's leadership, Pinay Ikaw Na continues to be a leading voice for Filipino women in Bahrain, actively promoting welfare, charitable work and programs, professional growth, and cultural pride. Pin is the largest organization of Filipino women in Bahrain and is working hand in hand with the Philippine Embassy Manama.

The highly anticipated Inang Pinay 2025 pageant took place in a vibrant celebration of Filipino mothers in Bahrain. The event, held on March 21, 2025, at the Downtown Rotana in Manama, was part of Pinay Ikaw Na's observance of International Women's Day and its 10th founding anniversary. Pinay Ikaw Na (PIN), a prominent organization dedicated to empowering Filipino women in Bahrain, hosted the event. Jennie Pastrana was crowned Grand Winner of Inang Pinay 2025.
