Lindsay Lohan has sweet 'Parent Trap' reunion at 'Freakier Friday' premiere

The " Freakier Friday" premiere was also a " Parent Trap" reunion for Lindsay Lohan and two of her former co-stars. Lohan stepped out on the purple carpet Tuesday night in Los Angeles with Elaine Hendrix and Lisa Ann Walter. Hendrix famously portrayed Meredith Blake in the hit 1998 film while Walter played Chessy. The film followed Lohan's characters, twins Annie and Hallie, who are separated at birth and discover each other for the first time at summer camp, where they create a plan to bring their parents back together. On the "Freakier Friday" premiere carpet, Hendrix, who makes a cameo in the movie, and Walter spoke to "Good Morning America" about what they remember most about working with Lohan all those years ago and seeing her as a mother now. "Working for Disney is always a blast and a blessing," Hendrix said. "And I was very happy to see her. It had been a while, you know, she was a little girl the last time I saw her, and now she's all grown up and beautiful." "And happy and a mom," said Walter, who added that seeing Lohan as a mom is what she "imagined" it would be. Walter said, "When we knew her when she was a little girl, she was very responsible, she was in charge of her brothers and sister, and she was an amazing big sister in that family, and I think this is just an extension of that." While speaking with "GMA," Lohan said that returning as Anna in "Freakier Friday" felt "a lot more personal" this time around. "I got to bring what I've learned from being a mom into the story of playing a mom," she said. "There's a difference in the kind of empathy when you're a mom, and it was really exciting to play a mom for the first time on screen." The upcoming film, directed by Nisha Ganatra, features Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis reprising their roles as Anna Coleman and Tess Coleman, respectively. Like the previous "Freaky Friday" film, which premiered in 2003, the duo switches bodies again in the sequel. This time, Anna now has a daughter of her own, along with a soon-to-be stepdaughter. When asked if a "Parent Trap 2" would ever get the sequel treatment, Hendrix and Walter said that while "it gets talked about a lot," a sequel is not up to them. However, they said they aren't opposed to one. "We're not going to say no," Hendrix said. "If Nancy writes it," Walter added, referring to "The Parent Trap" writer and director Nancy Meyers. "If Nancy writes it or if she approves it, then this can happen." The star-studded "Freakier Friday" premiere featured a stacked guest list with all the film's stars including Lohan and Curtis, Manny Jacinto, Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons and Chad Michael Murray. Lohan's husband Bader Shammas was also at the premiere to support his wife and was all smiles as he posed for photos with her on the carpet. The event also featured a surprise performance by Christina Vidal Mitchell and Haley Hudson, who played Anna's two best friends and Pink Slip bandmates Maddie and Peg, respectively, in "Freaky Friday." Ganatra told "GMA" on Tuesday that bringing "Freakier Friday" to life was a joy, and that she and the cast were "laughing so hard on set." She added that the movie was important for her to tell because of the film's message about family. "This movie was so important to me, because it's about the families we choose," she said. "Because we're all born into a family, but sometimes that family doesn't always work out the way we hoped it would, or sometimes our families break apart for no reason at all on our part. So it's about the choice of bringing a family together, a blended family, families of origin and the families we choose, and how important it is to lead with love and keep everyone together. It doesn't just happen, you have to really make love and togetherness happen. So this movie's really an ode to everyone who worked so hard to keep their families loving and together." "Freakier Friday" arrives in theaters on Aug. 8, 2025.

Lindsay Lohan's Press Tour Style Begins in Full Bloom

"Hearst Magazines and Yahoo may earn commission or revenue on some items through these links." This is your reminder that Freakier Friday—yes, the sequel to Freaky Friday—is hitting theaters soon. Over 20 years after the original film, Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are finally reuniting on screen this August. And while we're still waiting on trailers, Lohan is already setting the tone with her press tour wardrobe. Spoiler: it's blooming. The actress took to Instagram to share a first glimpse of her Freakier Friday promo look, wearing a cherry blossom-printed minidress from Oscar de la Renta's Pre-Fall 2025 collection. 'Florals? For Freakier Friday? Groundbreaking 😉🎬🌸 So excited for all that's blooming! Including Freakier Friday 🌸 #freakierfriday,' she wrote in the caption. The soft tweed silhouette features delicate floral embroidery and lace leavers along the trims for a sweet and feminine detail. Lohan kept the styling simple and let the dress shine, opting for silver jewelry: a diamond tennis necklace, a few thin bracelets and rings, and tiny hoop earrings. She also slipped in a small detail of the upcoming film. In her photo carousel, posters and vinyls referencing Pink Slip, the fictional garage band Lohan's character fronted in the 2003 film, can be seen spread across TV screens and walls. The film's press tour kicks off after a low-key summer for Lohan away from the spotlight and with her family. Earlier this month, she vacationed in Italy with husband Bader Shammas and their son, Luai. This week, the Dubai-based family happily celebrated Luai's birthday with a dinosaur-themed party. 'Pink Slip' From 'Freaky Friday' Just Performed At Disneyland, And I'm A Moody Teen Again

Okay, so you know about the absolute phenomenon that is Freaky Friday. Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan play Tess and Anna Coleman, a dysfunctional mother-daughter duo who end up switching bodies in a freak incident, and are forced to live each other's lives. A damn classic. There's so much to love about this 2003 film: the story, the performances, Chad Michael Murray's terrible rendition of Baby One More Time. But another thing that makes this film truly iconic is Anna's garage band, Pink Slip, and this banger: To refresh your memory, the song is Take Me Away. Watching this film at a time when being in a band was considered the epitome of coolness was something else. We all wanted to be a part of Pink Slip, because this song goes HARD. I mean, just look at them! The song, originally by the Australian alternative/punk rock band, Lash, was turned into a cover by Christina Vidal for Freaky Friday. We know and love Christina as Maddie, Anna's BFF. Recently, a sequel to the film was announced. Freakier Friday, with our favorite duo, releases August 8th. You can check out the trailer here. Of course, Christina Vidal and Haley Hudson of Pink Slip are part of the sequel; as is our beloved Chad Michael Murray. But the new cast members— Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, Rosalind Chao, Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Manny Jacinto, and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan—are incredible! On July 17th—Disneyland's 70th birthday—the cast (minus Lindsay Lohan) made an appearance at the Disneyland resort. In a vlog uploaded by YouTube channel Mouse Vibes, we see the new cast come out and greet eager fans. Addressing the crowd, Jamie Lee Curtis says: "But the thing that makes this movie truly rock, is a particular OG band..." "...so without further ado, it is my thrill to be able to introduce to you, Pink Slip!" The band sang Take Me Away as the crowd roared. I too sang along, sitting at my computer and headbanging, lyrics at the tip of my tongue like muscle memory. Mouse Vibes / Via Walt Disney Studios / Via I could watch that scene a million times and not be bored. Disneyland shared a snippet of this event on Instagram, and naturally, our millennial hearts couldn't take it. And of course, Lindsay Lohan was terribly missed. Instagram: @disneystudios Well, I'm just grateful for moments like these, because they take me back to a simpler time. The only thing I wanted back then was to look as cool as Maddie, Anna, and Peg, crushing it on the guitar or on the mic. And I can't wait for Freakier Friday to be out! Here's the full vlog by Mouse Vibes:
