Priyanshu Painyuli on rejecting Kill: Nikhil approached me for Raghav's role, but…
In the unpredictable world of cinema, actors are often forced to make tough decisions—some that turn into career-defining moments, and others that leave behind lingering questions of what if. For actor Priyanshu Painyuli, one such moment came when he chose to walk away from the critically acclaimed action film Kill (2024). He shares how he was approached for the film—not for Lakshya's lead role, but to play the antagonist. However, due to scheduling conflicts, he had to turn the offer down. Actor Priyanshu Painyuli 'I was doing another project, and the dates clashed,' Priyanshu says. 'I was approached for the antagonist's role in Kill. The director [Nikhil Nagesh Bhat] had seen my previous work and really liked it. He had previously offered me a few roles, but things hadn't materialised. When he came to me with this one, we had even started talking and doing readings. But the timing just didn't work out.' The role eventually went to actor Raghav Juyal. At the time, Priyanshu was already committed to another film, leaving him unable to dedicate the extensive time that Kill demanded. 'The film required a lot of physical training and prep. I was shooting for Pippa (2023), and as my schedule clashed, I had to let it go,' says the 36-year-old actor, adding that it wasn't an easy decision to make. The sense of missing out became more palpable when he finally watched Kill on the big screen. 'I was shooting for the series Paan Parda Zarda with Tanya Maniktala, who played the lead in Kill. She told me, 'Go watch it, it's out now.' I wrapped up shoot and went straight to the theatre that night,' he recalls. 'The film is fantastic. Raghav did a fantastic job. He completely owned the character and brought something very raw and unpredictable to it. Watching him, I did feel I missed out—but I also genuinely appreciated his work.' While there's no bitterness, Priyanshu admits to feeling the sting of what could have been. 'When you see someone else doing it well, you don't feel bad in a bitter way. But it's like when you wanted a toy really badly, and someone else is playing with it,' he laughs. It's a sentiment many actors can relate to—missing out not because of rejection, but due to timing and circumstance. 'There have been a few projects I had to say no to, which later went on to do really well,' he reflects. 'It happens to all actors. Sometimes your project doesn't take off, and the one you said no to becomes a hit. But you just have to trust the process and keep growing.'

Inside the future of funerals using AI for the perfect send-off – it could save you HUNDREDS
'A lot of people are choosing a no fuss funeral, which is great, but you still need that closure' LIVE AND LET AI Inside the future of funerals using AI for the perfect send-off – it could save you HUNDREDS A NEW free to use AI tool has been created to help plan the perfect funeral send-off. Pure Cremation launched their A Fine Farewell service to help grieving families, or customers themselves, put together a final goodbye. 4 Direct cremations are increasing in popularity but Pippa says people still need closure. 4 Ashes going into a traditional urn. 4 Pippa Tustain developed the AI tool for Pure Cremation. It comes as one in five funerals in the UK are now direct cremations – with no ceremony at the crematorium – meaning families are increasingly having to plan the repast by themselves. Chief Features Writer MATT BENDORIS speaks to the AI services creator and also plans his own last hurrah. PIPPA Tustain knows that more and more Brits are choosing a direct cremation service - but believes while it saves them a fortune it leaves them lacking the 'closure' of a proper send-off. That's why she programmed the A Fine Farewell AI tool for Pure Cremation to assist anyone tasked with putting together a final goodbye. And she believes the service is required with the cost of dying increasing by £122 from 2019 to £3,980 for the average cremation today - while a direct cremation is £29 less than six years ago with an average price of £1,597. Pippa, 39, said: 'A lot of people are choosing a no fuss funeral, which is great, but you still need that closure. 'So the way we approached this was with two main groups of people in mind. 'Obviously the first group are those planning a funeral ceremony for a loved one which is hard enough as it is, especially when you are grieving and dealing with all the admin that comes with any death. 'But the other group are people who are planning ahead and although no one likes talking about death, it can actually be a really thoughtful and beautiful thing to do. 'Instead of leaving it to family and friends to guess what you would have liked, you can actually spell it all out, even if it's something as simple as telling them all to just go down the pub. 'But by creating these legacy documents it allows people to properly celebrate their life.' AIDA PLANNED MY WHEELY FUN SEND-OFF By Matt Bendoris FUNNILY enough I had never planned my own funeral before but, far from being a morbid affair, it was actually fun. Aida promised to be 'gentle, sensitive and helpful' and it was certainly all of those things. After tapping in some basic information about my likes, dislikes and passions – basically cycling and going to the pub – it suggested a bike ride in my honour followed by a meal and a drink at my favourite boozer. Perfect. It then thought I should select music for my mourners while I also wanted them to enjoy a tipple to toast my memory. Aida came up with suitable cycling-themed cocktail names including Pedal Punch and Gear Grinder and even suggested all attending should be wearing bike clobber too – I Lycra style. Pure Cremation's AI Assistant Aida is described as 'gentle, sensitive and helpful' and is said to, 'encourage an easy relaxed conversation' while planning a send-off. Aida offers numerous ideas including suggesting nearby venues and even provides prices and contact information. At the end of the chat you can then ask Aida to email you a summary of the perfect send-off with all the details. But the Bristol-based company stresses that A Fine Farewell is not a generic tool and by asking 'thoughtful questions' about your loved one's life, personality and values, it tailors 'creative and original suggestions' for the person being honoured. Pippa says: 'The idea is you only have to talk about the person that you love. You only have to tell it what they were like, how did they make you feel, what did they like in life? And then you can guide it. 'So it comes up with the ideas and then you just have to tell it what you do and you don't like, and you whittle it down from there, and then you can put in the practical stuff like how many people and spaces. 'It can even look up places in your area to help you sort of understand where you might do a gathering and give you costs too.' However Pippa from Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, admits even she has been amazed by some of the suggestions her creation has churned out. She said: 'When I asked for a book where people could write messages of condolence, it suggested a kiss book, because this particular nana always insisted on getting a kiss from her grandchildren. 'So people can put on nana's favourite lipstick, leave a kiss on the page and a message beside it. 'Aida even came up with a cocktail suggestion called The Duchess, which was this nana's nickname. It then detailed the cocktail ingredients based on this nana's favourite vodka tipple so it was relevant to them.' Pippa puts down the rapid rise in direct cremations popularity due to the covid pandemic - when funeral gatherings were limited - to the rising costs of traditional funerals. She said: 'People are letting go of the idea that you have to have a burial in a certain way and pay a lot of money. 4 Costs of funerals are rising but direct cremation costs are down. 'I think they're kind of waking up to the fact that sometimes what you're paying for isn't necessary, or even wanted, paying fees for cars and flowers when actually. 'What's important when people pass away that you love is how you celebrate them. This tool does helps you give them the send off that they wanted.' For more information visit:

Is it safe to let my Bearded Dragon enjoy the sun from our patio? – your pet queries answered
HE is on a mission to help our pets . . . and is here to answer YOUR questions. Sean, who is the head vet at tailored pet food firm has helped with owners' queries for ten years. 4 4 Q: SHOULD I let my Bearded Dragon Lucky out on the patio in the sun, in a safe enclosure where he will be supervised? It seems a shame to keep him inside if the weather is good. What do you think? MIKE BROWN, Leeds Sean says: Yes, natural UV rays from the sunshine just can't be beaten for reptiles like your Beardie. But a few safety tips . . . You've already touched on the most important one. It must be a foolproof, escape-proof enclosure — if there is a gap or opportunity to climb or jump out, Lucky will take it. And not be so lucky facing life in the wild. You must also watch him like a hawk, or a hungry hawk or cat could see him as a meal. Finally, what can seem like sunny weather to us may not produce the right temperature for him at ground level, for example. So it's best to use a thermometer to measure the ground and air temperature, ensuring it's meeting his ideal thermal range. If it's a few degrees too cold don't risk it, as respiratory illness is common in Beardies if they catch a chill. Q: HOW can we tell if our hamster is happy? And what are the signs of stress? We have Siberian hamster Pippa, who is six months old, and I want to ensure she has the happiest life, cared for by my daughters Bella, eight and Flo, nine. MARK THOMAS, Cardiff Sean says: I applaud you Mark, as many small pets are overlooked in this way — seen as low-maintenance, not needing much consideration for their happiness. And the way they are sold, particularly in respect to their housing, is often below the acceptable minimum standard in terms of space and environmental or behavioural enrichment. Basically, think how a hamster lives in the wild — yes, there are still wild hamsters in Europe, Russia and into Asia. They live in a burrow system and will roam great distances at night. A tiny cage with a wheel just doesn't cut it. So provide as big a cage as possible, with a safe area for supervised free roaming. Q: MY dog gets grass seeds in her paws. I keep her pad clipped but should I consider getting booties for her? I wonder if Mica, a Siberian husky, is just unlucky or if there's anything else I can do to stop this happening? HELEN BROOMFIELD, Doncaster Sean says: Most dogs really dislike boots and poorly fitting ones can chafe by altering how they walk. My advice is to try to keep Mica away from areas of very long grass going to seed. You simply have to inspect her paws after every walk and make sure there are no seeds lurking under or between her pads. Keeping fur clipped short there is good too. Q: WHAT steps should I take to keep my dog safe as the weather gets hotter? Should I get a drinking bowl that cools water? Or provide fans? After last year's heatwave, I want to get prepared. COLIN SMITH, Sudbury, Suffolk Sean says: No need for expensive gadgets. Room-temperature water, and plenty of it, around the house is best — and shade to retreat to when things get too hot. If you can get one, a cooling mat is a good idea. Finally, make sure to only walk your dog in the cooler mornings and evenings, never in the middle of the day when it gets really hot. Test the pavement with the back of your hand — if it's too hot for you it's too hot for our dogs. Star of the week 4 GLOBETROTTER Felix the dog has been announced as Britain's new ambassador for sports brand ASICS. The seven-year-old Samoyed has visited 36 countries and is an social-media sensation with the handle @wanderlust_samoyed. Latest ASICS research shows British dog owners are 35 per cent more likely to hit recommended physical activity guidelines compared to those without dogs, and have better mental wellbeing. ASICS spokesman Gary Raucher said: 'We are delighted to have Felix as our official ASICS Mind's Best Friend and share dogs' infectious love for movement with the world to motivate us to get out and move for our minds.' See T&Cs apply. How to keep your dogs safe at the seaside WITH summer fun on the way, one of the country's top canine first-aiders has issued an urgent warning about water safety for dogs. Veterinary nurse Rachel Bean, author of the iPET Network's canine first-aid qualification, said that while many dogs love water, some breeds, boxers, are at higher risk of drowning. 4 Here are her top four hazards to look out for . . . 1. Sea water ingestion, which can lead to salt poisoning: Rachel says: 'If your dog starts vomiting or showing signs of distress, get them to a vet immediately. Carry fresh water and offer it frequently while at the beach.' 2. Drowning: Breeds such as bulldogs, boxers and Basset hounds are physically unsuited to swimming, so don't just assume they will be fine. 3. Blue-green algae: It can be lethal, even in small doses. Rachel says: 'Rinse them off immediately. Symptoms can appear rapidly and include weakness and drooling.' 4. Overexertion and heatstroke: Watch for excessive panting, drooling, disorientation or collapse. Move them to shade, offer cool (not ice-cold) water and seek veterinary help urgently.
