Plano man arrested after repeated peeping incidents at teen's window, police say

A Plano man has been arrested after allegedly peeping into a teenage girl's bedroom window multiple times over the past few months, police said. Alberto Ventura Salinas, 40, was charged with disorderly conduct — peeping into a dwelling, according to a Plano Police Department news release issued Friday. Salinas, who authorities say lives in the same neighborhood where the incidents allegedly occurred, was arrested around 10:30 p.m. Thursday. Home security footage helped identify Salinas as the alleged culprit, police said. The arrest comes after East Plano mother Nedra Bounds told CBS News Texas that a "Peeping Tom" had shown up at her teen daughter's window at least 10 times over the past few months. In addition to going to police, Bounds asked for the public's help in identifying him. "He'll come, he's stumbling drunk," she said. "He's clearly at this point targeting her." Determined to protect her daughter, Bounds installed blackout curtains, floodlights and additional security cameras, hoping it would scare him off. "We've made about four to five phone calls to police at this point, and it just keeps escalating," she said. Bounds said the man exposed himself. "That's really the most concerning thing is that he's been caught with his pants down, he's seeking her window," she said. "She's a little girl. She doesn't want to think about those things." In Friday's news release, Plano police said: "While no physical exposure occurred during the incident, his behavior raised a significant concern." Bounds posted a picture of the man on social media, hoping someone would be able to identify him. She said the response has been overwhelming. "Everybody is just, 'I'll give you a camera,'" she said. "'Can I bring you a camera?' 'I'll sit outside your house.'" The investigation is ongoing, police said.

North Texas mom seeks help to identify "Peeping Tom" seen at teen daughter's window

An East Plano mom said a "Peeping Tom" has shown up at her teenage daughter's window at least 10 times over the past few months. She's gone to the police and is now asking for the public's help in identifying him. Nedra Bounds said that at first, it was a man's face suddenly appearing in her 13-year-old daughter's window, then he started to linger. "He'll come, he's stumbling drunk," she said. "He's clearly at this point targeting her." Determined to protect her daughter, she installed blackout curtains, floodlights, and additional security cameras, hoping it would scare him off. "We've made about four to five phone calls to police at this point, and it just keeps escalating," she said. Bounds said the man exposed himself. "That's really the most concerning thing is that is that he's been caught with his pants down, he's seeking her window," she said. "She's a little girl. She doesn't want to think about those things." Bounds posted a picture of the man on social media, hoping someone would be able to identify him. She said the response has been overwhelming. "Everybody is just, 'I'll give you a camera,'" she said. "'Can I bring you a camera?' 'I'll sit outside your house.'" Plano police confirm they're investigating and detectives are reviewing the videos of the man.

A Rolls-Royce was nicked from a Texas valet stand — which police say led them to a $1.5M luxury car theft ring

In a high-stakes bust, local and federal authorities swooped in on a suspected Dallas-area luxury car theft ring on June 11, recovering nearly $1.5 million worth of stolen high-end vehicles, including two Rolls-Royces, police say. Home surveillance footage obtained by NBC DFW shows Dallas SWAT, Plano officers and the FBI executing a search warrant on one of two properties that were raided, according to the broadcaster. It was the conclusion of a multi-agency investigation spanning several Texas cities. I'm 49 years old and have nothing saved for retirement — what should I do? Don't panic. Three suspects were also arrested for theft over $300,000. Plano police were only looped into the larger investigation after the brazen theft of a Rolls-Royce at a local restaurant days earlier, reports NBC DFW. Here's what happened, along with more details of the investigation. On June 6, a 2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre was stolen from the valet stand of a restaurant in an upscale neighborhood, Plano detective Jerry Minton says, after the vehicle owner handed the keys over to staff. 'The suspect saw a targeted opportunity,' Minton explained to NBC DFW in a story published July 2. 'They drove up in another vehicle, a white Mercedes, saw where the vehicles were parked and was able to obtain a set of keys.' As Plano detectives began their investigation, they were alerted by the Texas Department of Public Safety that the 2025 Mercedes S63 AMG at the scene was linked to other car thefts reported in Dallas and Grapevine, according to NBC DFW. Minton says the Mercedes was also stolen, and PPD joined the ongoing case. 'We got in on the tail end of it, after they had already planned for the search warrants,' Minton said. The six vehicles recovered include a Rolls-Royce Spectre, Rolls-Royce Cullinan, Cadillac Escalade-V, Maserati Levante and Audi RS7 — valued at nearly $1.5 million — police say. Minton says there was no pattern to how the vehicles were stolen. One more was taken from a valet stand, he says, but another came from a vehicle transport, while the second Rolls-Royce may have been lifted from a gas station. 'They weren't targeting one specific method of stealing,' Minton said. 'It was: they see an opportunity, they took it if they liked the car.' The arrested were Oscar Valdez, 28, Miguel Hernandez, 27, and Salvador Hernandez, 29, reports NBC DFW. Plano police say Valdez is a repeat offender with 15 active felony warrants, per the broadcaster, and remained in custody without bond. Meanwhile, both Hernandez men, who Minton says are not related, posted bond. Read more: No millions? No problem. 'A Honda Civic is as important to that person as the Rolls-Royce is to that owner,' he said. It's also a good idea to park in well-lit areas, or even behind a fence or in a garage. Visible deterrents: Old-school methods still work in many cases. A determined thief may still find a way past them, or they may opt for an easier target. Fancy Cars, Foiled Plans: Plano Busts $1.5M Luxury Theft Ring

North Texas authorities have dismantled a high-end vehicle theft ring, recovering more than $1.5 million worth of luxury cars in a multi-agency operation that led to several arrests. The investigation, led by the Plano Police Department and supported by state and federal partners, ended with a series of coordinated sweeps across the Dallas-Fort Worth area on June 11, according to NBC 5. This coordination began when Plano investigators began investigating a 2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre that had been stolen from a valet stand and noticed that the suspect drove a 2025 Mercedes S63 AMG, which the Texas Department of Public Safety was already monitoring, according to Fox 4. Plano Police Detective Jerry Minton further detailed the investigation, stating that the department 'piggybacked off of Texas DPS and Dallas PD,' who were already working on the case alongside the FBI, as reported by Fox 4. Minton explained that the various agencies were each tracking individual suspects believed to be involved in separate cases, but quickly realized they were 'working the same suspects' after sharing information about the cases, according to WFAA. A warrant was then obtained, and a sweep was conducted by Dallas SWAT, Plano PD, and the FBI in the 8300 block of Alto Garden Drive in Dallas, according to NBC 5. Officials then learned about a second location that could be housing vehicles further down on Alto Garden, resulting in a second warrant and sweep being conducted on the property. A total of 19 vehicles were recovered during the operation, some of which were reported stolen from out-of-state locations. The recovered vehicles included a Rolls-Royce Spectre, a Rolls-Royce Cullinan, a Cadillac Escalade-V, a Maserati Levante, and an Audi RS7, with a combined value of approximately $1.5 million, according to Fox. This investigation led to the arrest of three suspects who were allegedly involved in the thefts. 27-year-old Miguel Angel Hernandez, 28-year-old Oscar Ivan Valdez, and 29-year-old Salvador Hernandez were arrested and have been charged with theft of property over $300,000, which is a first-degree felony, according to CBS News. Salvador and Miguel Hernandez have already posted bail in the amount of $50,000. Valdez remains in police custody on a $1 million bail, with the Plano Police Department stating that he has a total of 15 outstanding felony warrants.
