Mumbai Woman's Shocking Allegations Against Glutathione Clinic: "I Thought I Was Going To Die"

In a tragic coincidence, Shefali Jariwala - known as the 'Kaanta Laga' girl and a reality TV star - passed away last week, reportedly after taking glutathione injection while fasting. However, the post-mortem report is awaited. Now, a Mumbai woman has come forward with serious allegations of medical negligence against a cosmetic clinic administering glutathione drips - an increasingly popular but unregulated treatment marketed as a skin lightening and detox therapy. Speaking exclusively to NDTV, 40-year-old Maggie says she is still reeling from the physical and mental trauma of the treatments, nearly a year later. "After the first session, my cough and cold got aggravated. I kept calling the clinic and messaging the doctors, but there was no response. I didn't know what was happening to my body," she recalls. Despite her symptoms, she continued with the second and third sessions, attributing her illness to weather changes and pollution. She even underwent a PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) facial treatment at the clinic, which she describes as "badly done", alleging that the plasma was injected late, leading to scars on her face. "I had to hide my face to go to the office," she says, breaking down. Soon, her health deteriorated further. She developed severe acid reflux, mouth ulcers, blisters, jaw swelling, and missed menstrual cycles. "I had to quit my job." she says. Medical investigations, including an endoscopy in December, revealed a serious infection in her body. 'I've been on medication for almost a year. The moment I stop, everything comes back.' But what she says happened during the fourth glutathione session is what she calls her 'breaking point.' After raising concerns about the lack of results, the doctor allegedly suggested a 'booster dose' with increased quantity. "I felt like I was on my deathbed. I told the staff I wasn't feeling well. My daughter was in the reception. They didn't even call her for half an hour," she says. She eventually approached a police station to file a complaint, but says she was told the matter involved medical drugs and therefore no action could be taken. She has sent two legal notices to the clinic. "They didn't even bother to respond,' she says. 'We are common people. They don't care about us." Her story raises urgent questions about the unregulated use of glutathione - a compound marketed as a miracle skin-lightening solution. Most clinics do not disclose side effects or dosage, she alleges, and only provide personalized care to celebrities. 'They just want to grab clients. If you're a public figure, you're treated like royalty. For the rest of us, they don't even follow up.' 'Everyone talks about the glow. No one talks about the side effects,' the woman says. 'Someone needs to speak up. This isn't just about money. I've lost my health. I've lost my job. And I'm not the only one.'

Khairul Hafiz hints at withdrawing from SEA Games 100m to focus on relay squad

He said this decision would make way for younger sprinters and allow him to focus entirely on Malaysia's 4x100m relay squad. Khairul Hafiz - File photo SHAH ALAM - Former Southeast Asian sprint champion, Khairul Hafiz Jantan has hinted that he may withdraw from the men's 100 metres event at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand. He said this decision would make way for younger sprinters and allow him to focus entirely on Malaysia's 4x100m relay squad. The 27-year-old sprinter is currently undergoing rehabilitation for a left hamstring injury sustained during the Asian Athletics Championships (ATF) in South Korea recently. 'I might not compete in the individual 100m. Let the younger runners take that spot. My only focus now is to help the relay team,' he said. Scans conducted at the National Sports Institute (ISN) revealed a 2.35-centimetre muscle tear. He is currently undergoing Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment to accelerate recovery. Khairul, also known as The Speedy Jantan, remains optimistic. He is targeting a return at the Malaysian Open Championships this August, which will also serve as the national selection trial for the SEA Games. 'If I can clock between 10.49 and 10.5 seconds, that would be good enough to help the national relay squad. I hope to fully recover in time for August,' he said. The 4x100m relay squad is expected to be one of Malaysia's key hopes for a medal at the regional sporting event.

Rangers rescued my career but I then became a Celtic legend

Craig Gordon, the Hearts icon, has candidly shared how he had to put himself first and make a 'selfish' choice regarding his career, ultimately leading him to an astonishing haul of 12 trophies with Celtic. The storied goalkeeper reflects on the crucial recovery of his knee at Rangers, crediting physio Steven Walker for helping him return to action in 2014 after a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to severe injuries. With a staggering tally nearing 700 club appearances and 81 caps for Scotland, Gordon acknowledges the significant role Walker played in his remarkable return from multiple knee surgeries that threatened to finish his playing days prematurely. Despite the uncertainty that clouded his future, including a possible end to his career following injuries at Sunderland and treatments spread across Barcelona and London, Gordon's time with Walker at Ibrox proved pivotal. Now, with the 2026 World Cup still in his sights, Gordon looks back on a journey where endurance paid off, as he approached his testimonial year with the Jambos, stating: "I probably thought that I wouldn't play again." He praises the intuition and expertise of Walker, saying: "When I went into Rangers I worked with Steven and he was really good." Reflecting on connections that made a difference, he adds: "He was the guy that worked out how to get me back.", reports the Daily Record. His comeback trail connected him once more with Jim Stewart, who'd been important in his past roles as a goalkeeping coach at Hearts and Scotland, and was with Rangers when Gordon went there. "Rangers had already rehabilitated a Norwegian guy, Thomas Kind Bendiksen, with a very similar injury. "I had PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) injections over in Barcelona with the guy that Pep Guardiola sends his players to. "I had high-volume injections in London. I had all the different treatments I could possibly do to chuck everything at it. "But if it's one person who turned it round, I would say it would be Steven. He was able to devise a programme that enabled me to build up the muscle around my knee to take the load off the tendon. "I just never know what would have happened without that. Once I realised there was a chance to get back, I poured everything into it to give myself that one last opportunity to get to the bottom of it." He said: "At certain times as a footballer you've got to be a bit selfish and do the thing that's best for you. "And that was the best thing for me, for my career, to play at the highest level. "Rangers were in the lower leagues at the time and took a further three years to come to the Premiership. I managed to get those three years playing in the Premiership and playing for Scotland that perhaps maybe I wouldn't have had. "It was a difficult thing to do but sometimes you've got to do what's best. "Rangers already had two senior goalkeepers. "To add another one at that stage probably wasn't financially the right thing for them to do. "They wanted me to play in a couple of reserve games to prove that I was fit enough to stay there. "If I had done that then my injury insurance would have been invalid. So I just couldn't do that. "That was the reason why that never happened. "I spoke to Raith Rovers. Hearts had Jamie MacDonald and didn't know if he was going to be leaving. I think Neil Alexander came in. "Then Celtic came in. I knew I would have really good medical care there. I could give it the best possible chance to continue my rehab and try to get some games. "There was obviously speculation about Fraser Forster so there was a little chink of light – him potentially moving on. "It all fell into place at exactly the right time. "I managed to play 50 games my first season back after not playing for two years. "I didn't know it was possible until I managed to do it."

Rangers saved my career and then I won 5 titles with Celtic but here is the real truth why I never moved to Ibrox

The Hearts No1 admits he had to be SELFISH and look after himself despite the Light Blues hard work to get him back playing Craig Gordon rebuilt his career with Celtic. But it was at Rangers that the goalkeeper rebuilt his knee – and thus made the biggest save of his life. ‌ His playing days. ‌ Rangers physio Steven Walker helped him get back between the sticks in 2014 after two years out injured. But the Hearts legend admits he had to be SELFISH and look after number one when deciding on his next move. He would go on to lift 12 trophies including five league titles with Celtic. Incredibly, 11 years later, Gordon's on course to break the 700 club appearances milestone and he is now on 81 Scotland caps with the 2026 World Cup still in his sights. And he owes the majority of all that, in no small part, to Ibrox physio Walker. A total of 41 caps and nearly 400 club appearances have come in the 11 years since his miraculous recovery from a series of knee injuries at Sunderland that looked to have ended his career. ‌ Gordon had three operations and underwent treatment in Barcelona and London before spending the best part of a year working with Walker. Now, as he looks forward to his testimonial season at his beloved Jambos, Gordon said: 'I probably thought that I wouldn't play again. 'When I went into Rangers I worked with Steven and he was really good. ‌ 'He was the guy that worked out how to get me back. Once I realised there was a chance to get back, I poured everything into it to give myself that one last opportunity to get to the bottom of it.' That was the start of a series of opportunities that have led Gordon miraculously back to the top. ‌ By summer 2014, more than two years after his last appearance for Sunderland, he was in a condition ready to resume his career. Not at Rangers though. At Celtic Park where Ronny Deila handed him his big chance. He said: 'At certain times as a footballer you've got to be a bit selfish and do the thing that's best for you. ‌ 'And that was the best thing for me, for my career, to play at the highest level. 'Rangers were in the lower leagues at the time and took a further three years to come to the Premiership.
