‘Truly exquisite' home has lovely views – and is perfect for animal-lovers
A home in Pleasington is our property of the week and it's described as a 'truly exquisite' property with space to keep horses if wanted. The property, with Victorian-inspired features, on Pleasington Lane would be a great home to raise a family as it has four bedrooms and even a self-contained two-bedroom annex on site. Golf-lovers can take advantage of Pleasington Golf Club, which is located nearby. Inside the main house, original historic features have been retained and well cared for, including hardwood-framed sash windows, ceiling roses, and decorative coving. The entrance hall features oak flooring and a spindle staircase, setting the tone for the rest of the home. Two large reception rooms act as living and dining space, with fireplaces, high ceilings, and plenty of natural light. The kitchen is fitted with a range of units, granite worktops and a central island. The room is integrated with top-of-the-range appliances. The kitchen opens onto a breakfast room and leads into a large orangery overlooking the garden. Additional ground floor accommodation includes a utility room, toilet, and cloakroom, all well-presented and practical for family life. Upstairs, the main house features four double bedrooms, two of which have en-suite shower rooms. The other two are served by a family bathroom, complete with a roll-top bath and granite vanity unit. Also on the first floor is a split-level landing and large sash windows, which make the space feel even bigger. The annexe has its own entrance and provides an independent living space ideal for extended family, guests, or potential rental use. It includes two bedrooms, each with an en-suite, a fitted kitchen, and a lounge with French doors opening out to the garden. Outside, the property boasts several outdoor spaces, including a large lawned rear garden with mature trees, shrubs, and planting areas, as well as a side courtyard and a seating area surrounding a pond. The plot extends into a paddock at the rear, which could be used to keep animals or used for something else entirely, including as a gardening space. The paddock and part of the grounds can be excluded from the sale if preferred, allowing for a reduced price and more manageable plot size. A spokesperson for Stones Young Estate and Letting Agents, which is marketing the property, said: 'Presenting a truly exquisite opportunity to own a stunning four-bedroom detached home set in the idyllic village of Pleasington. 'This Victorian double-fronted property exudes elegance and charm, boasting exceptional décor and a generous plot just shy of an acre, including a paddock – a true countryside retreat in the heart of the village and directly across from Pleasington Golf Club.'

Putter returns as sensational Zara secures tournament record
A tournament record that has stood for 19 years was broken as elite amateurs descended on Pleasington Golf Club earlier this month. A crop of top male and female players were tested at the club's prestigious Pleasington Putter and the Pleasington Antlers events, the first time they have been held since it's £1 million restoration was completed. Advertisement The historic contests were held on July 2 and 6, respectively, testing top amateurs across 36 holes in one day on the heathland layout. Truimphing in the Pleasington Putter, with a nine-under score of 139 was Zara Ali, who is a member at Cookridge Hall GC in Leeds, a new tournament record, beating the previous best of 141 which had stood since 2006. Pleasington Golf Club (Image: Landmark Media) She shot an impressive seven-under in her opening round and closed out with an assured two-under second round to win the Putter, which dates back to 1982 and features top female amateur talent. The men's event saw Greg Holmes, of Royal Birkdale GC, emerge the victor with a two-under score of 140. Advertisement After a tricky opening round left him three-over-par, a sublime five-under 66 in the afternoon saw Mr Holmes take the title back to the West Lancashire coast. Mark Bleasdale, general manager of Pleasington Golf Club, said: 'We are incredibly proud to see the Pleasington Putter and Antlers continue to attract outstanding fields and showcase the very best of amateur golf. 'After the reopening of our newly renovated course earlier this year, the course has never looked better. 'We look forward to welcoming more talented players next year as these tournaments go from strength to strength, putting Pleasington Golf Club on the map as a leading destination for golfers across the UK.' Advertisement This winter saw the completion of the club's Good2Great project, restoring the course back to its heathland glory. Over five years, every hole has been reshaped to restore the original heathland layout, which has included changes to bunkers and the removal of thousands of trees. Next year's Antlers and Putter events will take place on July 4 and July 8, 2026, respectively.
