Operation Sindoor debate: Home minister Amit Shah counters Opposition with data, digs into Congress past
New Delhi: Union home minister Amit Shah slammed the Opposition in Lok Sabha for demanding proof of Operation Sindoor and criticised former home minister P Chidambaram for questioning Pakistani links of terrorists involved in Pahalgam attack . In his 75-minute intervention in the discussion on Operation Sindoor, Shah blamed Nehru-Gandhi family for erroneous decisions in the past and linked them to the current problem of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir . "If PoK exists today with a separate identity, it is because of Nehru's decision to stop the war in 1948. It was a unilateral ceasefire, which was opposed by Sardar Patel," he said. "In 1948, Indian armed forces were in decisive position to take back PoK but then PM Nehru declared unilateral ceasefire." ‘World stood with India, Congress did not': PM Modi on Op Sindoor
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the Congress, accusing it of failing to back the government after the Pahalgam terror attack and India's subsequent military retaliation, Operation Sindoor. 'While the world stood with India, the Congress did not,' Modi said, addressing Parliament as it concluded a two-day debate on the incident. 'No world leader asked India to exercise restraint. Everyone supported our soldiers. But, sadly, the Congress could not rise above politics.' He also hit out at the opposition party for allegedly targeting him personally. 'They accused me of politicising the deaths of innocents. But they themselves chose not to support the bravery of our forces,' the Prime Minister said. "No country in the world has stopped India from any action in its defence against terrorism. Of the 193 countries of the United Nations, only three countries spoke in favour of Pakistan at the UN." "On the night of 9 May, the US Vice President (VP) tried talking to me, but I couldn't talk to him due to meetings with the army. When I called back, the US VP told me that Pakistan is planning a big attack. I told him that if Pakistan attacks India, our attack would be much bigger as we will respond to bullets with cannons." "India got support from the entire world, but it is unfortunate that the Congress did not support the valour of our soldiers. Congress leaders targeted me for political gains, but their frivolous statements ended up discouraging our brave soldiers." "Pakistan's nuclear bluff was called out. India proved that it will no longer bend before nuclear blackmail. India showed its technical prowess with precision strikes. Pakistan's airbase and assets were severely damaged, many of which are still in ICU." "On the night of May 6 and morning of May7, India did what it had decided to do and Pakistan couldn't do anything. The world saw the strength of self-reliant India during Operation Sindoor. We destroyed terror sites deep inside Pakistan within 22 minutes to avenge the April 22 Pahalgam attack." 'After suffering huge losses, Pakistan's DGMO came pleading 'don't hit us anymore, we can't suffer any longer'…No leader of any country asked India to stop the operation (Sindoor).' "The Congress and its allies have unfortunately become spokespersons of Pakistani propaganda. India is becoming self-reliant, but Congress is now dependent on Pakistan for issues. The entire country is amazed to see Congress give a clean chit to Pakistan and sing the same tune as theirs." "This is victory celebration for decimating (Pakistan's) terror headquarters… it is a victory celebration for fulfilling the oath of the 'sindoor'… it is victory celebration of the unity, willpower of 140 crore Indians." "Before asking why PoK has not been taken back yet, Congress must respond -- who let it go. India is still suffering the pain of mistakes committed by previous Congress governments, starting from Jawaharlal Nehru. Then Congress governments lost opportunities to get back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir when India had Pakistan's land and soldiers in custody." 'The world has seen the scale of our operations. They range from Sindoor to Sindhu (Indus); Pakistan knows they have to pay huge price for any misadventure. We now respond on our own terms; we do not differentiate between masterminds of terror and state actors. No country in the world has stopped India from any action in its defence against terror.'

No One Asked India To Stop Operation Sindoor: PM Modi Replies To Oppositions Trump Ceasefire Claims
Replying to the Opposition's charges on US President Donald Trump's India-Pakistan ceasefire claims, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, while addressing the Lok Sabha, said that no leader of the world had asked India to stop Operation Sindoor. 'We said this on the first day in the press conference that our action is non-escalatory. We did Operation Sindoor by saying this. And that is why we stopped the strike after targets were achieved. No leader of the world asked India to stop Operation Sindoor,' the Prime Minister said. Operation Sindoor The Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). This came after the gruesome Pahalgam terror attack of April 22, in which 26 individuals were killed. According to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the Operation targeted key terrorist hubs and achieved complete operational success within just 22 minutes, eliminating over 100 terrorists and handlers. Pakistan retaliated by launching drone and missile attacks on Indian territory. After four days of military conflict between India and Pakistan, a ceasefire agreement was announced on May 10. Amit Shah In Lok Sabha Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday, during the ongoing debate in Parliament on Operation Sindoor, said that Pakistan is Congress's mistake and added that during Operation Sindoor those who sent the terrorists were killed, and in Operation Mahadev those who carried out the attack were gunned down. "Pakistan is Congress's mistake. If they had not accepted partition, there would have been no Pakistan today," Shah said. "Operation Sindoor killed those who sent the terrorists, and Operation Mahadev killed those who carried out the attack... I thought that after hearing this news, there would be a wave of happiness in the ruling and the Opposition parties, 'Magar Syaahi padd gayi inke chehre pe' (Their faces are smeared with ink)... What kind of politics is this?" Shah said during the debate on Operation Sindoor in the Lower House. Responding to the opposition's "why there was no war" charge, the Union Home Minister said that PoK exists only because of Jawaharlal Nehru. He claimed that the Nehru government gave 80 percent of Indus waters to Pakistan and forgot about PoK in 1971 during Indira Gandhi's tenure as Prime Minister.

'Learnt Humility From Him': Kanimozhi Objects To BJP's Mention Of Manmohan Singh In Op Sindoor Debate
Kanimozhi asked the BJP to learn "humility" from Manmohan Singh, saying the former PM apologised to the nation following the 26/11 attacks DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi on Tuesday launched an attack on the BJP after its ministers and lawmakers accused former PM Manmohan Singh of not taking any action after the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. Speaking in the Lok Sabha during a special debate on Operation Sindoor, Kanimozhi asked the BJP to learn 'humility" from Manmohan Singh, saying the former PM apologised to the nation following the 26/11 attacks. She then questioned the government and asked who would take responsibility for the Pahalgam attack in which 26 people were shot dead. 'This year, there was an attack in Jaipur.. In Pulwama, they brought 240 kgs of RDX. We don't have any answers. Every time there is an attack, you say it will not happen again. What had the Vishwaguru learnt? You have not even learnt humility. When the Mumbai attacks happened, then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh came in front of the media and apologised to the nation and said this should not have happened, and we should have prevented it. Learn humility from him; he is no more. Who will take responsibility for what happened to people in Pahalgam? Innocent tourists believed you, trusted you and went there thinking it was a safe place," he said. Taking a jibe at the BJP and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the DMK MP said, 'You remember Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru more than Congress. A man who was so powerful that he changed history. And even till today, he is so powerful that he is responsible for every mistake you make." In his speech, Shah said PoK exists only because of Jawaharlal Nehru. '…Yesterday, they (Congress) were raising questions about why there was no war… Today, PoK exists only because of Jawaharlal Nehru… In 1960, they gave 80% of the Indus waters to Pakistan… In 1971, during the Simla Agreement, they (Congress) forgot to ask about PoK. If they had taken PoK then, we would not have to carry out attacks on camps there now," he said. BJP Govt Failed People: DMK MP The DMK leader said that the MPs' delegations were sent for the global outreach of Operation Sindoor because the central government had failed the people. 'We had to go on these delegations (MPs delegation on Operation Sindoor global outreach) because peace had failed us, and you (central govt) had failed the people of India… For the first time, the BJP has shown some confidence in the Opposition, and they sent us out as leaders of (MPs) delegations to represent this country. I thank them. But also, I would like to say, if the opportunity to lead these delegations had not arisen, then we would have been happier and more grateful…Today, the Home Minister in his speech only intended to blame the Opposition…Today, it has become a blame game. Today, the Home Minister in his speech only intended to blame the Opposition," she said.
