FBI sketch emerges in Calvin Riley Pokemon Go shooting in San Francisco after years of silence
FBI sketch emerges in Calvin Riley Pokemon Go shooting in San Francisco after years of silence (Image via Getty) A new update has come in a case that has left many shocked for nearly a decade. A young college baseball pitcher, Calvin Riley was killed while playing a mobile game at a busy tourist spot. The case had gone quiet for years. Now the FBI has released a new clue that could possibly solve what happened that night. The victim's family is still mourning their loss; this case came to light back in 2016 in San Francisco, now in 2025 we are once again looking into this case. Calvin Riley was shot and killed while playing Pokemon Go in San Francisco in 2016 Shot and killed on the night of August 6, 2016, Calvin Riley was just 20 years old. Calvin Riley was out playing Pokemon Go with a buddy near Aquatic Park and Ghirardelli Square in San Francisco that evening. Someone came from behind at around 9:50 p. m. and shot Calvin Riley once in the chest. He died where he was; no words were spoken, no theft took place. Calvin Riley had his phone and wallet on him, therefore it is unclear what the motive could have been. At the time, police shared a sketch of one suspect and asked the public for help in finding two cars – a dark-colored Audi A3 wagon (model year 2006–2009) and a white Hyundai Sonata (model year 2013). But no arrests were made. FBI shares sketch of second man after nine years of silence In 2023, the FBI officially took over the case from U.S. Park Police, as Aquatic Park is on federal land. On June 25, 2025, the FBI released a new sketch of a second man they believe could be connected. He has glasses, a beard, and was seen recording video at the crime scene. They believe he was with the first suspect, who may have been driving the car and was also seen with a blonde woman. According to the FBI, both the Audi and Hyundai were seen arriving together just before the shooting and then leaving right after. Calvin Riley's father, Sean Riley, told NBC Bay Area that this tragedy has deeply hurt their family. 'It's been a nightmare going on nine years,' he said with tears. Calvin Riley was from Massachusetts and played baseball for San Joaquin Delta College. Pokemon TCG Pocket's Eevee Grove Expansion Has Convinced My Partner to Play
I've been locked in on Pokemon TCG Pocket since day 1, and despite some reservations about how quickly new set expansions have been released, I log in at least twice a day to open my free packs. My girlfriend, on the other hand, stopped playing the game shortly after it came out. I was hoping that I could keep her engaged as my trading card buddy -- we met through playing Pokemon Go on the same college campus, and I pulled out my physical card collection during one of our first dates (I know, very romantic). Alas, I've had no such luck when it comes to hooking her on Pokemon TCG Pocket, which launched in October 2024 as another way for fans of the franchise to get their collecting fix (especially those who've invested in the real-life cards). She'll still get excited when I let her rip open one of the game's virtual packs on my phone, but I haven't been able to convince her of the joys of consistently opening her own packs. Now, developer DeNA is releasing its ultimate weapon: the Eevee Grove card packs. This expansion set is going to do gangbusters, because I'm using it to drag my partner back to the game (and you can, too). If you told me you thought this little guy isn't cute, I'd call you a liar. DeNA/Screenshot by CNET Eevee is a powerful marketing tool Pikachu might be the face of Pokemon, but Eevee is the electric rat's right-hand man. The adorable fox-dog-thing has universal appeal. They're cute, they're intrinsically tied to Pokemon's evolution mechanics, and they turn into so many different monsters that people love. Eevee can change into cool Pokemon like Jolteon and Umbreon, or they can become something more elegant, like Sylveon or Glaceon. My girlfriend's favorite Pokemon is Ralts, but she loves Eevee nonetheless -- so I've convinced her to open some packs and use up her wonder picks, at least for now. I already have her chasing the holographic Sylveon card. Only when she pulls it will I tell her about the even more rare full art versions, in order to keep the chase alive. It's hard to say if I'll be able to keep her momentum up as the set loses its novelty and luster, but I'm happy to share this small part of my daily routine with my partner until she falls off the game again. The release window of the Eevee Grove expansion doesn't seem like a coincidence at all, considering how many people the Eevee-themed Prismatic Evolutions set converted into physical Pokemon trading card collectors. That was a very expensive set to pull from, mostly because it was getting bought up by scalpers at an absurd pace. But you can't scalp digital trading cards, which means Pokemon TCG Pocket's Eevee Grove expansion might be an appealing alternative for casual fans. There's a whole Eeveelution rainbow included in this set. DeNA/Screenshot by CNET What is included in the Eevee Grove card set? Eevee Grove includes 69 base set cards for you to pull, including the Eeveelutions and some of their Generation One friends. There are 38 additional full art and secret rare cards for the luckiest players to stumble across. The card list primarily focuses on Eevee and its evolution rainbow. Several Eevee evolutions have multiple full art card variants in this set. Out of the master set's 107-card total, a whopping 29 cards are dedicated to the Eevee evolution lines and its associated items. There are also Pokemon Ex cards for Snorlax, Primarina and Dragonite, if you're looking for different options for your deck. The Eevee Grove expansion continues the trend of including special shiny Pokemon cards. These secret, rare alternate art cards have been included in every set since Shining Revelry. The latest expansion includes shiny full-art cards for Articuno Ex, Zapdos Ex, Moltres Ex and Gallade Ex. There are also shiny variants for Ralts, Kirlia and Gardevoir, so if my partner pulls every Sylveon, I think I know what to set her loose on next. Pokemon TCG Pocket's Eevee Grove expansion set update is available for free now on iPhone and Android devices. Next time you log in, you can spend your free packs and hourglasses to chase the Eeveelutions to your heart's content.

Shocking new twist in 'Pokemon Go' killing of baseball star Calvin Riley... nine years after unsolved shooting
The FBI has released a new sketch of a second person of interest in the unsolved 2016 killing of college baseball star Calvin Riley. Riley, 20 was gunned down in San Francisco on the night of August 6, 2016, while he was playing the video game, Pokemon Go, with a friend. His loved ones said he was struck from behind. His friend heard the shot and saw the 20-year-old fall to the ground. Riley was a rising star for the San Joaquin Delta College Mustangs, who dreamed of playing for the Red Sox. But his killing has remained a mystery for the past nine years. Earlier this week, however, federal investigators revealed the new composite drawing in the hope that those responsible can finally be found. It shows a bearded man with glasses. Riley's father, Sean Riley, paid tribute to the authorities and told KTVU that he hopes this represents a turning point in the investigation. 'They've done an outstanding job,' Riley said of the FBI. 'It's been a lot. I mean, it has been nine years.' The family also posted a statement to social media, per Fox News, which read: 'There's not a day, hour, minute or second that we don't think about you and the great memories that you left us with. 'Calvin, we promise you that we will find this person and bring them to justice. Cal we love you and miss you so much. Until we all meet again!!!' Both the killers and the motive have remained a mystery. The FBI is offering up to $25,000 as a reward for information that helps bring down those responsible. Not long after the shooting, police released a sketch of one person they thought could be connected to the case. The man was reportedly driving a car - with a blonde woman aged between 20 and 30 - which was parked nearby. According to KTVU, a family friend previously said Riley and his friend had noticed someone watching from the top of the hill above them. Another person was seen recording the crime scene and the new sketch shows a bald man with a beard and glasses. Police also identified a couple of suspicious cars - a 2015 white Hyundai Sonata and a dark Audi A3 - that arrived together and left together after the killing. It's not believed Riley was involved in any confrontation or robbery before being shot. Neither his phone nor his wallet was touched. 'This has ripped my family apart,' Sean Riley said at the time. 'I miss my family. I miss him. I miss it all.'

Pokemon Go's Gold Bottle Cap: Pay To Win or Worth $20?
I've been playing Pokemon Go since its release in 2016, and I've never caught a perfect shiny legendary. They're absurdly rare, because you need to roll the right stats and the alternate pigmentation on the same Pokemon. I suspect I'll be seeing a lot more shiny legendary Pokemon with max stats (or shundos, as the community calls them) soon, though, since developer Niantic has released the first Gold Bottle Cap into Pokemon Go. This powerful item lets you have total control over your Pokemon's stats for the first time in the game's history, but there are a couple nasty catches -- the biggest one being that it's locked behind an additional $20 battle pass, and you only have one week to complete it. Is it worth it for you to buy that pass and grind out the tiers until you have that sweet Gold Bottle Cap? Here's what you need to know about this hot commodity. The Gold Bottle Cap has shown up in every Pokemon game since Sun and Moon came out on the 3DS. Niantic/Screenshot by CNET What is Pokemon Go's Gold Bottle Cap? The Gold Bottle Cap might be a new item in Pokemon Go, but it has made multiple appearances in mainline Pokemon games. The first Gold Bottle Caps appeared in the Generation 7 games Sun and Moon, where they were used to max out all of a single Pokemon's individual values (IVs). These IVs are hidden stats that are intrinsic to a Pokemon -- you can manipulate them through breeding techniques, but the only way to change them on an already-generated Pokemon is through using the bottle caps. The Gold Bottle Cap in Pokemon Go serves the same purpose as it does in the mainline games. This item will boost a single Pokemon's Attack, Defense and HP IVs to 15 (the max value in Pokemon Go), assuming you're able to complete the Hyper Training tasks the Gold Bottle Cap unlocks. The current way to manipulate a Pokemon's IVs in Pokemon Go is to trade it with a friend (and each Pokemon can only be traded once), so the Gold Bottle Cap is the only true guarantee that you'll get a specific perfect Pokemon. The Gold Bottle Cap debuts alongside Go Fest Global 2025, the biggest Pokemon Go event of the year. Niantic/Screenshot by CNET How to earn the Gold Bottle Cap in Pokemon Go Currently, the only Gold Bottle Cap available to you in Pokemon Go is locked behind the final tier of a premium battle pass. Much like the Lucky Trinket gets locked behind the monthly Go Pass, the Gold Bottle Cap is the big draw of the special Go Fest 2025 Go Pass -- so you'll have to shell out cash and then put in the work to reach tier 100 in order to unlock this IV-maxing item. Since this is only the first Gold Bottle Cap Pokemon Go players have had a chance to earn, it's hard to say whether or not there will be alternative acquisition methods in the future. An item this absurdly powerful will definitely stay rare, just like the Master Ball. If and when more Gold Bottle Caps are added to the game, it'd be a safe bet to assume they'll remain out of reach of free-to-play players. The Go Pass: Ancients Recovered has a strong focus on the Regi line of legendary Pokemon. In addition to the Gold Bottle Cap, you'll encounter a whole lot of these guys. Niantic/Screenshot by CNET Is it worth it for you to buy the Ancients Recovered Go Pass? The Ancients Recovered Go Pass is an event battle pass designed to run in tandem with Go Fest Global 2025. That means it's extremely time limited -- you can start making progress right now, but the whole battle pass will disappear after June 29. That means you have less than a week to knock out every tier. You can earn a maximum of 10 tiers a day until June 28, and then the daily battle pass experience point limit will be uncapped. Essentially, if you don't have a weekend to dedicate to playing Pokemon Go, there's no way you're going to unlock everything on this Go Pass (including the Gold Bottle Cap). The pass also costs $20, which is a much steeper price than the $8 Niantic asks for in exchange for the monthly Go Pass. Even if you make it to tier 100 of the event battle pass and unlock the Gold Bottle Cap, there are some strings attached to its usage. You can only use this item once, in order to boost a single Pokemon's IVs -- and if you don't use your Gold Bottle Cap by July 6, it'll simply disappear from your inventory. Tough luck. You can't use this item on Shadow Pokemon, and the Pokemon you want to use it on has to be your Good Buddy (or higher). If you don't have a Pokemon already in mind to use the Gold Bottle Cap on, it's probably not worth your time and money to invest in the pass. Of course, if you are on the fence about whether or not to purchase this (very expensive) Go Pass, there are rewards on every other tier as well. If you're gunning for that Gold Bottle Cap tier, you'll also pick up bonus experience points, lure modules, a lucky egg, an incense, an incubator and encounters with the legendary Pokemon Regirock, Regice, Registeel, Regieleki and Regidrago. You'll also collect candy and candy XL for those legendaries. If you progress the pass to the extra tiers past the Gold Bottle Cap, you can even earn upwards of 100,000 stardust -- which goes far when it comes to powering up your Pokemon. The value offered by the Gold Bottle Cap is completely subjective. Pokemon Go thrives off of FOMO -- think about how long ago it was that Armored Mewtwo and the clone Pokemon from Pokemon: The First Movie last appeared in raids -- but you shouldn't feel compelled to buy into every new thing that gets added to the game. The difference between a couple IV points is negligible, and you can build a meta team of 'mons without the Gold Bottle Cap. FAQs How many Gold Bottle Caps are in the Go Pass? There are no Gold Bottle Caps in the monthly Go Pass, and only a single one in the special Go Fest Ancients Recovered Go Pass. Can you buy more Gold Bottle Caps? No, you can't directly purchase Gold Bottle Caps in Pokemon Go. There is only one Gold Bottle Cap currently obtainable in the game, and that one is at the end of the premium track for the Ancients Recovered Go Pass.
