Next Pokemon TCG Pocket Set Announced Featuring Ho-Oh and Lugia

The Pokémon Company International This set will have a heavy focus on the Johto region, featuring many classic Pokémon from the Gold, Silver, and Crystal games, with legendary duo Ho-Oh and Lugia taking center stage as the featured Pokémon for this set. There will be plenty of other cool cards on offer though, as the Pokémon Company has already shown off some special illustrations for the set, featuring Pichu and Togepi that look particularly adorable. We'll also be seeing the debut of cards that don't require energy to attack, which is sure to shake up the meta. This comes shortly after the announcement that the controversial Trade Token system is being done away with after fan backlash, with card trading now dependent on a new currency called Shinedust, which can be earned by completing missions and achievements, or through getting duplicate cards. This update will also be adding the new wishlist system, where you'll be able to wishlist 20 cards that you don't yet own alongside three favorites that will be displayed on your profile, so all your friends will know what you're after, making sorting our favourable trades a lot easier.

First of all, we know the stream is going to be an estimated 24 minutes long, which is about average for these things. No doubt it will be frontloaded with details on upcoming updates for various mobile games like Pokémon Sleep and Pokémon Cafe. It's also likely we'll see the announcement of the next Pokémon TCG Pocket set, which we'll be sure to cover as soon as we find out about it. Over the past couple of weeks, the Pokémon social media accounts have also been teasing something strange, with Pikachu working at a DJ deck. Exactly what this could be about, we don't know, but whether it's some sort of Pokémon rhythm game or a music channel, we're highly likely to find out during this stream. Of course, the biggest headline will be more information on Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the next mainline game in the series, set to launch on Switch and Switch 2 on October 16, 2025, though we don't know what new details will be unveiled. As for the reveal of whatever mainline title will follow Z-A in 2026, we doubt we'll hear about that in this stream. That said, it's not impossible, the Pokémon Company International has revealed new games before the launch of a current one before, but we believe that if the highly-anticipated Generation 10 games or anything of that nature are going to be revealed this year, it won't be here.

Pokemon TCG announces return of mega evolution with new expansion set releasing September 2025
The Pokémon Company International has announced a new expansion set for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, reintroducing mega evolution to the game. The expansion will be released on September 26 2025, and marks the first set in the Mega Evolution Series, bringing back mega evolution Pokémon to the TCG. Mega Evolution Pokémon were first introduced in the XY Series in the mid-2010s. The upcoming set will feature Mega Evolution Pokemon ex, including Mega Lucario EX and Mega Gardevoir EX, alongside new Stadium and Pokémon Tool cards designed to enhance gameplay. According to the announcement, the expansion will include 10 Mega Evolution Pokémon EX, 22 illustration rare Pokémon, 22 ultra rare Mega Evolution Pokémon EX and Trainer cards, and 10 special illustration rare Mega Evolution Pokémon EX and Supporter cards. The set will be available in various formats, including Booster Bundles, Booster Displays, Sleeved Boosters, three-booster blisters, Elite Trainer Boxes, collection box sets, and Build & Battle packs. Pokémon Legends: Z-A will be released on Thursday, October 16, 2025. The game will be available for both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Preorders begin on June 5 through the Nintendo eShop. Buyers can choose a digital or physical version.
