Not only did Abrams sing her hits such as "I Love You, I'm Sorry," "That's So True" and "Close To You," the 25-year-old singer also teased an unreleased song titled "Out of Nowhere" and sang a cover of The Cure's "Just Like Heaven." Fans noticed Charli xcx, a British pop star who returned to the spotlight with her 2024 album brat, was seen watching the Abrams' set on the balcony with some friends. The "Talk Talk" singer was seen wearing a white graphic t-shirt, gray shorts and black boots. Her hair was slicked back into a tight ponytail and she accessorized the look with black sunglasses. The sweet moment didn't go unnoticed by fans, who took to social media to post Charli xcx watching Abrams. @xcxsource, a prominent Charli xcx updates account, posted the original video to X. The 32-year-old DJ is set to perform on Saturday night. Though their musical styles differ — Charli xcx is known for her hyperpop, club anthems, while Abrams is known for her soft, confessional ballads, the two have become one of the industry's most unexpected pairings. Dua Lipa surprised fans in London on Saturday night by bringing out another British superstar, Charli XCX. Lipa was in the midst of her second of two sold-out shows at Wembley Stadium in London, England, on Saturday, June 21, when she decided to give fans a taste of Brat summer with fellow pop diva Charli XCX. As the stage changed to the colors of Brat green, Lipa announced to fans that she would like to 'bring a friend out," according to fan footage of the concert. 'Let me tell you, she is the biggest brat I have ever known,' Lipa joked. Charli then took the stage as her hit song '360' began playing. Both Lipa and Charli performed the song, belting out the lyrics together to screaming fans. Charli was wearing a cropped white baby t-shirt that tied in the middle, along with green snakeskin short shorts. She paired the outfit with black lace-up boots and sunglasses. Lipa was wearing a white lace bodysuit that covered her entire body with a white fur stole that draped over her shoulder. The two bounced around the stage singing, having the best time. Charli's appearance comes after Lipa surprised fans on night one with the 90s-2000s band Jamiroquai. Dua Lipa's three-night stint at Wembley Stadium marked a major milestone for her, as she filled the massive stadium in her hometown for the first time in her career. Music Review: Lorde enters 'Virgin' territory on her liberated, physical pop album
NEW YORK (AP) — Fans of the New Zealand singer-songwriter Lorde have long commended the artist for her visceral pop craft. Her music, to certain ears, sounds like freedom. On her new album, it is as though Lorde is able to hear it, too. On 'Virgin,' the singer born Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor's fourth studio album and first in four years, pop hits are devoid of any anxious filtering. She is raw. When Lorde first emerged as a gothic popstar — with 'Royals,' and its critique of celebrity culture and hyper consumerism — she did so with prescience. Her sparse production style and cursive-singing had come from the future, and its influence would be felt for many years to follow. Her debut, 2013's 'Pure Heroine,' suggested that she possessed something her contemporaries did not; the synesthesia synth-pop 'Melodrama' in 2017 all but confirmed her greatness. She took a step back from all that for the sleepy sunshine of 2021's 'Solar Power,' and then took another — veering away from the spotlight all together. It seemed that this outsider dynamo had distanced herself from fame in an attempt to centralize artmaking once again. (Later, as it was revealed in a 'Rolling Stone' cover story, she was mourning the longest romantic relationship of her life, making up the bulk of her twenties, and that she was overcoming an eating disorder and anxiety through MDMA and psilocybin therapy.) 'Virgin' was born after that period of reflection. Musically, 'Virgin' threads the needle from 'Melodrama' to the current moment. The lead single, the synthpop 'What Was That,' is a reserved derivation of her previous work but no doubt a banger; on the syncopated rhythms of 'Hammer,' she's matured her racecar-fast pop. There's a new malleability here. She sings, 'Some days I'm a woman / Some days I'm a man.' An album standout, the metamorphic 'Shapeshifter,' possesses a tension between organic and electronic sounds that continue onto 'Man of the Year,' with its bass and cello contributions from frequent collaborator Dev Hynes. Credit is due to her new production partners Jim-E Stack (Bon Iver,Danielle Haim) and Daniel Nigro (Olivia Rodrigo,Chappell Roan). Thematically, Lorde's never been more fluid and feral than on 'Virgin,' in her descriptions of gender experience ('Favourite Daughter') and sexual autonomy ('Current Affairs,' with lyrics that might scandalize fans not expecting messy eroticism. 'You tasted my underwear,' she sings, partnered with a sample of the dancehall record 'Morning Love' by Dexta Daps.) For a singer who has always performed physical pop songs, 'Virgin' is her most bodily work to date as well. Take, for example, the shortest song on the record, the vocoder-affected a cappella performance of 'Clearblue' — a play on the popular pregnancy test brand, and not the only place where motherhood appears on the album. (Fertility is another theme; the album cover features an X-ray of Lorde's pelvis while wearing jeans; in it, an intrauterine device is visible.) This is a new Lorde — a more self-assured artist, warts and all — but one that recognizes and evolves her sonic signatures. Now, like in the early days of her career, 'Virgin' is both avant-garde and pop radio ready, a confluence of unlike features that mirror its messaging. Only now, she sounds unshackled.

After her surprise performance in Nashville earlier this week, Swift's music is back in the headlines once again, and Kelce has been quizzed on his favorite song of hers. In an interview with Bussin with the Boys host Will Compton, Kelce took a second and then revealed a surprise selection: So High School. It has been widely claimed in the past that some of the lyrics in the song reference Kelce and their relationship, particularly the line: 'You know how to ball, I know Aristotle'. Some Swift fans would perhaps have expected Kelce to choose 'Karma' as his favorite song, given the pop superstar regularly changed the lyrics to reference Kelce and her 'guy on the Chiefs' during her sold-out Eras Tour show. On Thursday, meanwhile, NFL star George Kittle lifted the lid on Swift's shock performance at a concert hosted by Kelce in Nashville on Tuesday night. The singer sent the crowd wild with a rendition of Shake It Off as she joined Kane Brown at 'Tight Ends and Friends', much to the surprise of those in attendance. Now, Kittle has opened up on Swift's cameo and revealed that she was unsure over which song to perform before being reassured by Kelce's pals. Speaking to Fox News Digital, Kittle explained: 'She was fantastic. For the venue that, I think, it was maybe 1,000 people, that was the loudest 1,000 people I've ever heard in my entire life. It was an incredible experience. 'Taylor could not have been kinder, more nice, and she was like, "I think it might be fun to go sing 'Shake It Off.'" And we were like, "It'd be amazing. Twist my arm, Taylor, please".'

Sabrina Carpenter releases a demure album cover she says has been 'approved by God'
Sabrina Carpenter has always been a triple threat. She can sing, she can dance, and she has a wicked sense of humour. So rather than be cowed by the outraged response to the original album art for her upcoming album Man's Best Friend, she's decided to troll the trolls right back. Puritanical Gen Z teens were horrified when the 26-year-old pop star released the first album cover, which features her on her knees with a man's hand loosely holding strands of her blonde hair like a leash. It was par for the course for Carpenter, who loves to subvert her carefully crafted image as a pint-sized pin-up by being a bit of a pervert. But you'd think she'd posed nude in a dog collar the way people reacted to the picture. In response, the singer is now offering an alternate cover for people who wish to enjoy Man's Best Friend in a God-honouring way. Monroe, of course, made the song Diamond's a Girl's Best Friend famous with her performance in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. With Man's Best Friend, Carpenter appears to be paying homage to another iconic blonde while exploring the troubled dynamics of heterosexual relationships. By now Carpenter is an old hand at weathering scandals over her being seen as 'too sexy'. In 2023, a priest came under fire for allowing Carpenter to film the music video for her song Feather at the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Monsignor Jamie Gigantiello was later investigated for financial misconduct and fired in 2024. There were reports over 800 complaints made to OFCOM earlier this year over her performance at the BRITS, where she included a cheeky pre-Watershed romp with a dancer dressed as a member of the King's Guard. And there is the regular hum of disapproval around her benignly raunchy stage shows that includes demonstrating sex positions in front of an audience that skews towards young girls and women. Carpenter is certainly having the last laugh, though. Her new single Manchild went straight to Number One, and Man's Best Friend is due out on 29 August 2025.
