Missing boater located safe near Port Maitland
A boater who was reported missing on Lake Erie near Port Maitland has been found safe, Ontario Provincial Police say.
Haldimand County OPP responded just before midnight on Friday to a report of a missing individual last seen entering the water around 4 p.m.
Shortly before 2 a.m. on Saturday, the boater's vessel was located. Members of the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre later found the individual about five kilometres offshore.
No injuries were reported.
'This incident serves as a powerful reminder that wearing a lifejacket can save your life,' police said in a media release.
