Rory McIlroy relationship update as golfer and wife Erica Stoll set for change

Rory McIlroy is counting on a forthcoming two-week break from the fairways to give him time to properly digest his Masters triumph earlier this year. In April, the celebrated golfer snagged his career Grand Slam at Augusta National by winning out over Justin Rose in a nail-biting sudden-death playoff. Post-Masters, the 36-year-old hasn't quite carried that wave of success into subsequent tournaments as many might have anticipated. He secured a tie for 47th at the PGA Championship and took a joint-19th place at the US Open. Despite this, McIlroy has racked up three top-ten finishes on the PGA Tour, including his recent stint tying for sixth at the Travelers Championship. Just two strokes separated him from Tommy Fleetwood, who was narrowly bested by Team USA Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley on the last hole. McIlroy won't be teeing off again until the Scottish Open begins on July 10, which serves as a prelude to The Open Championship at the renowned Royal Portrush just one week later, reports the Liverpool Echo McIlroy conveyed before heading back to the UK: "I think more so than anything else, it'll just be good for me mentally to take a little bit of a break and get back to my neck of the woods, get back to the UK for a little bit. "I'm excited for that, and I've alluded to the fact I probably haven't taken enough time off or time to reflect after what happened in April, so I'm excited to do a little bit of that over these next two weeks." The five-time major champion reflected post-US Open: "It's always nice to get home; I feel like I live two different lives. I'm a dad and a husband when I'm away from here, and then I'm who I am when I'm here. "It's always nice to get away and feel a bit of normality." Eagerly anticipating his return to the region, he revealed: "I'm looking forward to just getting back to Europe in general." McIlroy, alongside his wife Erica Stroll and their four-year-old daughter Poppy, have commissioned their dream residency at the Wentworth Estate, near the exclusive Surrey golf course. Anticipating the future, he concluded: "We've got a lot to look forward to, got our new house in London, play the Scottish and then obviously The Open at Portrush." McIlroy and his family are preparing for a move from Jupiter, Florida, to the newly renovated mansion in Wentworth.
