‘Big Brother 27' recap: Keanu and Kelley escape the block — was Adrian, Amy, or Will evicted?
Heading into the second eviction episode of Big Brother 27, Keanu Soto had just claimed the Power of Veto (thanks to a special twist involving Season 20 champ Kaycee Clark) and removed himself from the chopping block. This left Head of Household Jimmy Heagerty scrambling to replace his initial target, ultimately deciding to put Amy Bingham on the block as a sacrifice. But the twists didn't stop there. Kelley Jorgensen added fuel to the fire with her own secret power, successfully completing a solo Veto competition to save herself from the block. This move left Jimmy even more frustrated, forcing him to nominate yet another houseguest — his fifth for the week — Will Williams, who now joins Adrian Rocha and Amy on the block. More from Gold Derby 'Jimmy is a liar' and 'I wish Rachel never came in': Amy slams 'Big Brother 27' houseguests following eviction 'Big Brother 27' spoilers: Who won Week 3 Head of Household after Jimmy's HOH flop? With the house divided on who they'd prefer to keep, tonight's BB Blockbuster competition could completely shift the power dynamic. One of the nominees will have the opportunity to win their way off the block, narrowing the final eviction choice to just two houseguests. Will Adrian, Amy, or Will rise to the occasion — and who will ultimately be sent packing? Read on for our recap of Big Brother Season 27, Episode 7, which aired July 24 on CBS. This season's theme is the "Summer of Mystery" and the house has been transformed into the Hotel Mystère, where secrets lurk behind every corner. The 17 players in the running to win the $750,000 grand prize are: Adrian Rocha (23): Carpenter from San Antonio, Texas Amy Bingham (43): Insurance agent from Stockton, Calif. Ashley Hollis (25): Attorney from Chicago Ava Pearl (24): Aura painter from Long Island, N.Y. Jimmy Heagerty (25): AI consultant from Sarasota, Fla. Katherine Woodman (23): Fine dining server from Gwinnett County, Ga. Keanu Soto (33): Dungeon Master from Miami Kelley Jorgensen (29): Web designer from Burbank, S.D. Lauren Domingue (22): Bridal consultant from Lafayette, La. Mickey Lee (35): Event curator from Jacksonville, Fla. Morgan Pope (33): Gamer from Palm Springs, Calif. Rachel Reilly (40): BB12 contestant and BB13 winner from Hoover, Ala. Rylie Jeffries (27): Professional bull rider from Luther, Okla. Vince Panaro (34): Unemployed from West Hills, Calif. Will Williams (50): College sports podcaster from Wallace, S.C. Zach Cornell (27): Marketing manager from Cartersville, Ga. Zae Frederich (23): Salesperson from Paducah, Ky. #ButFirst With both his first and second choice evictees now off the block, HOH Jimmy said that he doesn't care which of the three go home this week. His mostly female allies care greatly that Jimmy has mostly wasted his reign by leaving three non-threats as the final nominees and for not talking his decisions through with them. Instead, momentum seemed to be shifting to the guys side of the house (plus Kelley) who were organized in their objective to ensure that Adrian is not the one to be evicted. The first step in their mission would be for Adrian to win the BB Blockbuster, but that would require a comp win from the same guy that less than two weeks ago was bested by a vertical washer and dyer unit. Caught in the middle of the two gender-defined sides of the house was Lauren. She recognizes that the women are a unified front while the guys are not, but she feels like she's in a better position with the guys overall. Though she's not in the middle like Lauren is, Rachel is a big enough threat in the house that she's a large reason why the two sides of the house are unified in the first place. The guys want the queen out! Added Value Looking at the nominees, Mickey and Morgan debated who would bring the most "added value" to their own games if they are to stay in the house. Understanding that Will is not tied closely to anyone in the house, they went on a campaign this week to organize votes to keep Will above Adrian or Amy, but hit a wall when they got to the guys side of the house, like Zach, who said that they prefer Adrian to stay as a competitor. On the girl's side, Ashley was bothered by the idea that Amy might be evicted even against Will, but that's only because both her and Rachel see her as a bigger asset to their game. In an alliance meeting, Rachel and Jimmy were all in for Amy, Morgan was all in for Will, and Zach was all in for Adrian. At the end of the day, both Morgan and Zach's position is to get rid of Amy as soon as possible in order to weaken Rachel's army and inevitably pull her closer to them, but Rachel was on to them and, as has become typical, she threatened them with a war if they go against her this week. BB Blockbuster In "Puzzling Prints," the three nominees had to complete a 12-piece fingerprint puzzle quicker than their competitors. Adrian got the quickest start from the jump and kept pace to assemble it correctly a few pieces quicker than Amy could, saving himself from the block and leaving Amy and Will to voted for or against in the live eviction. In the few moments of the "live strategizing" following the comp, Amy, Rachel and Ashley shared a sorrowful embrace that offered an early impression that they might know that Amy doesn't have the votes to stay against Will. Live Vote & Eviction Ahead of the live vote, Amy didn't want to say anything negative about Will (so she said a lot of positive things about him instead) and then appealed to the house with her desire to stick around and continue to have fun with them. Will used his time to ask that his work "speak for" him and that if they want to keep Amy around over him then he'd understand. In the Diary Room, it was an unanimous vote to evict Amy, including from her closest friends Rachel and Ashley who didn't even throw her a sympathy vote. Perhaps it's because, as Ava put it, she's "too pure for this game," but in her exit interview with Julie, Amy confessed that she knew she wasn't going to stay this week when she was up against Will and Adrian because it was an open secret that her proximity to Rachel "ultimately hurt" her game. Katherine left the harshest goodbye message for Amy, asserting that the nine-person alliance the girls had put together was too big and she knew she was at the bottom so she executed a chance to get one of them out. As expected, Rachel vowed to avenge Amy's eviction. ‘Big Brother 27' spoilers: Rachel and Ashley catch the boys in a major flip attempt — ‘they're trying to play us'
Gold Derby is serving up spoilers all summer long. Read at your own risk! After 27 seasons, you'd think the boys of Big Brother would know better than to underestimate the queens in the house. But, bless their hearts, they just keep on trying. More from Gold Derby 'America's Got Talent 20' recap: Simon declares 'one of the craziest days' of auditions 'Big Brother 27' spoilers: Lauren's HOH reign goes from bad to worse after Veto meeting Soon after Keanu Soto used the Power of Veto to remove himself from the block, Head of Household Lauren Domingue chose Adrian Rocha as the renom to sit beside Kelley Jorgensen and Will Williams on eviction night. While most of the house believed that Adrian was the target because of his physical prowess, Rachel Reilly and Ashley Hollis soon compared notes and realized that the boys were plotting something else behind their backs. It all started when Zach Cornell hinted to Ashley that Will might be "checked out" of the game, insinuating that Will should be voted out next in order to return to his family. That caused the lawyer's "red flags" to start flapping like shower curtains in the wind. Rachel's mouth shot open as she realized, "They said that to me today, too," referring to Zach and Vince Panaro. "These motherf--kers think they're playing us," she shrieked. "Ashley, f--k! They think they're playing the sh-t out of us. They were like, 'He's checked out, don't you think?' And I was like, 'I don't think so, what are you talking about?'" Ashley then theorized, "I think they're planning a flip. I think they're testing us to see how we would feel." "Wait, for this week?" Rachel wondered. "To keep Adrian?" Ashley agreed, suggesting, "That would make sense why Vinny is up Adrian's ass." Later, Rachel came up with a plan. "If they try to start turning the tables on getting Adrian to stay, we have to vote for Will to stay," she stated. The girls agreed that Adrian has to go next, especially since he never talks game with either of them. "I don't trust Adrian," Ashley added. "Oh my God, Ashley, they're trying to play us," Rachel reiterated. "I am so mad!" As viewers are well aware, when Rachel gets mad, she threatens to "behead" her enemies, as we saw two weeks ago with Zae Frederich. Should Zach and Vince start watching their heads? After Rachel left the pantry, Ashley spoke the following directly to the camera: "I think they are trying to flip the votes. These people think I am dumb. It's working in my favor!" Elsewhere in the house, a gossipy Adrian brought it upon himself to tell Kelley that Ava Pearl "doesn't like" her. "She's putting up a front to you," he whispered. "I'm telling you this. Be cool. I trust you with a lot of information this week." A confused Kelley responded, "I don't remember any of it," and then mimicked a fish breathing underwater. When Adrian explained that Ava thought Kelley was trying to plant seeds and instigate things in the house, Kelley said matter-of-factly, "Yeah, she forgets things easily." "Don't underestimate Ava," Adrian told her bluntly. "You could probably do it competitor-wise, but game-wise, she's trying to float on by, and it's working." Find out whether Rachel and Ashley's realization about the boys, or Adrian's confession to Kelley about Ava, have any repercussions whatsoever when the next episode airs Wednesday night on CBS. Then on Thursday, a third person will be evicted live, leaving just 14 houseguests to compete for the $750,000 grand prize. ‘Big Brother 27' recap: After Jimmy's outburst, was Zae, Amy, or Kelley evicted first?
Heading into the first eviction episode of Big Brother 27, Ashley Hollis had just won the Power of Veto and removed herself from the chopping block. Head of Household Vince Panaro replaced her with his closest ally, Kelley Jorgensen, believing that the "risk" of nominating her would be worth the "reward" of keeping their alliance a secret ... sure, Jan. Zae Frederich and Amy Bingham were also up for eviction, but with a BB Blockbuster comp still to take place, it was anyone's guess as to who would go home on Thursday night. Read on for our recap of Big Brother Season 27, Episode 4, which aired July 17 on CBS. This season's theme is the "Summer of Mystery" and the house has been transformed into the Hotel Mystère, where secrets lurk behind every corner. The 17 players in the running to win the $750,000 grand prize are: More from Gold Derby 'I had no idea who she was': Zae reflects on his clash with Rachel and early eviction in 'Big Brother 27' exit interview 'Big Brother 27' spoilers: Here's who wins the Week 2 Head of Household competition Adrian Rocha (23): Carpenter from San Antonio, Texas Amy Bingham (43): Insurance agent from Stockton, Calif. Will Williams (50): College sports podcaster from Wallace, S.C. Zach Cornell (27): Marketing manager from Cartersville, Ga. Zae Frederich (23): Salesperson from Paducah, Ky. The "previously on" segment caught viewers up on Jimmy's wild outburst at the Veto meeting. After Kelley was announced as the renom, Jimmy stood up and attacked Keanu for calling him a snake. "I am gunning for you, so buckle up, buddy, because this snake has a bite," Jimmy hissed, to which Keanu cooly responded, "How long did it take for you to come up with that?" After the meeting, Keanu and Jimmy sat down to come to an understanding with each other about what was said in the days leading up to it. Jimmy told Keanu that he "has nothing against" him and denied that he was overtly gunning to get him out of the game, but of course that was a bold-faced lie. Elsewhere, and despite basically nominating herself as the replacement, Kelley was in tears ("mostly real") because she wasn't entirely sure at this point that she'd have the votes to stay this week. BURGER BOYS & DUMBBELLS Not to be atypical of any past season, a group of guys got together to create the "Burger Boys" alliance in Vince's HOH room. Vince went along with Zae, Zach, Rylie and Will's new plan because he had already decided he wanted Amy to be evicted so that meant any plan to secure Zae's safety was in his best interest. Self-nominated icon Kelley spent the week digging herself into a deeper hole with an anti-campaign for her own safety where she said everything she shouldn't say to the people she needs votes from. Her campaign included gems like reminding people that Zach won $10,000 in front of Zach, calling the workout bros "The Dumbbells" to their face, and awkwardly cheering on Keanu and Jimmy spending time together after their fight. As paranoia crept in, both Kelley and Vince began to get nervous about their decision to "do something cool" by putting her up in the first place. COMING FOR THE QUEEN With Rachel's number one ally Amy on the block, she knew she had to put in work in order to secure votes against Zae for the dual purpose of protecting Amy and striking a blow at any boys alliance. Luckily Rachel found easy support among some of the women who also had their sights set on getting out a strong player like Zae. Noticing the whispering around the house and knowing how close Rachel and Amy are, Zae figured that he'd need to counter Rachel's efforts to campaign against him, but underestimated her willingness to crash out quickly when threatened. One small comment from Zae made Rachel think that he was threatening her if/when he wins HOH, prompting her to warn him about how dangerous it is "coming for the queen" because he "might get beheaded." Zae remained unphased though, hoping that him standing up a huge threat like Rachel would show the voting houseguests that he's worth working with if they hope to go against her, too. BB BLOCKBUSTER For the first BB Blockbuster competition, Zae, Kelley, and Amy played "Ransom Note," a race to unscramble four words that formed a clue directing them to collect an item in the room. Kelley was the first to retrieve an item in the room, picking up a white and green gem tiara, and pressed her buzzer first to successfully solve the ransom note riddle and earn her safety from eviction! Once the result was announced to the house, they had mere moments to discuss in small groups how they'd be voting between Zae and Amy. Based on some casual eye rolls from Rachel while whispering with people like Adrian, it seemed like she might not have the votes she thought she did to save Amy. LIVE VOTE Prior to the vote, Amy and Zae got to give one last campaign speech to the houseguests. Amy argued that Zae is "more of a competitor physically and mentally" that they should send home and that she's an "honest to a fault" player that they should want to work with. Zae agreed that he's a competitor, but pitched that they're all there to compete. His main case was that Amy is a "second vote for Rachel" and they could "even the playing field" by taking Amy out in order to strike a blow to Rachel. The camerapeople were smart to leave the shot on Rachel during Zae's speech because she was absolutely fuming. In the Diary Room, the houseguests cast their votes: Kelley to evict Amy, Rachel to "happily" evict Zae, Zach to evict Amy, Rylie to evict Zae, Jimmy to evict Zae, Morgan to evict Zae, Adrian to evict Amy, Keanu to evict Amy, Ashley to evict Zae, Mickey to evict Zae, Will to evict Amy, Ava to evict Zae, Katherine to evict Zae, and Lauren to evict Zae. By a vote of 9 to 5, Zae was evicted from the house. ZAE'S CLOSING REMARKS In his closing conversation with Julie, Zae was surprised to find out that his final two ally Rylie actually voted to evict him. He was equally surprised to learn the unremarkable and irrelevant bit of information that Amy was in fact the accomplice. Despite the could-be-embarrassing record of being the first voted out, Zae kept it positive by finding the unique attribute of him being able to call himself 17th place in Big Brother. ‘Big Brother 27' spoilers: Jimmy's HOH is a dumpster fire, and Rachel's mouth just added gasoline
Gold Derby is serving up spoilers all summer long. Read at your own risk! Jimmy Heagerty made quite the spectacle last week, promising to put an end to Keanu Soto's reign of terror during the Power of Veto meeting. Fast forward to this week, and Jimmy followed through on his bold talk by winning Head of Household — a golden opportunity to prove the strategic chops he's been bragging about. Unfortunately, instead of a masterclass in gameplay, Jimmy's HOH reign unraveled into what can only be described as… well, a mess. And now, somehow, three of the least-threatening players in the game are sitting on the block. More from Gold Derby Zae Frederich on his dramatic exit from 'Big Brother,' Jimmy's HOH win, and why he wasn't 'fanboying' over Rachel 'Let the monsters eat themselves': 'RuPaul's Drag Race' winner Ginger Minj spills the tea on her online haters and what the scepter really tastes like Determined to uncover secret powers lurking in the house, Jimmy walked into his HOH week guns blazing, threatening everyone with a trip to "Block City" unless they fessed up. Kelley Jorgensen quickly confessed to holding a secret Veto power, and for her honesty, Jimmy rewarded her by putting her on the block beside his longtime nemesis, Keanu. He also blindsided Adrian Rocha — assuring him he was just a pawn. (Spoiler: pawns often don't stay pawns. It's Big Brother 101.) But in trademark BB fashion, things didn't go Jimmy's way. Keanu snagged the Power of Veto, effortlessly dodging Jimmy's effort to take a shot at him. To twist the knife, Keanu's win came courtesy of none other than Season 20 champ Kaycee Clark. Scrambling for options, Jimmy replaced Keanu with a fourth nominee: Amy Bingham. After asking if she trusted him — spoiler, she shouldn't, but said she did — Jimmy rewarded her optimism by dropping her on the block. Tough luck, Amy. As if the chaos wasn't already brewing, Kelley decided to cash in her not-so-secret Veto power next, taking herself off the block and forcing Jimmy to name a fifth nominee. By this point, Jimmy's HOH reign had officially gone off the rails. He settled on Cliffton 'Will' Williams, a player whose strategic resume isn't exactly intimidating — and just like that, Jimmy went from trying to take out his strongest rival, Keanu, to ending up with three of the weakest players in the house sitting on the block. Not exactly the power move he'd envisioned. Meanwhile, other conflicts seem to be bubbling to the surface. Ashley Hollis was seeing red after telling Rachel Reilly how much she loves cleaning her bathroom at home. "That's funny, because here you don't," Rachel snapped back. Infuriated, Ashley crawled into the hammock with Amy and said, '[Rachel] can go next.' Who knew cleaning habits could spark such drama? But in the Big Brother house, even the housework can be weaponized. A sanitary queen... Jimmy did manage to accomplish one thing during his chaotic HOH reign: flushing out the secret powers in the house. Both Keanu and Kelley played their cards this week, leaving only Mickey Lee's ability to overthrow an HOH still in play. While Mickey had only confided in her closest ally, Morgan Pope, about winning the power, the rest of the house seems to have pieced it together. At last count, Rachel, Will, Amy, Zach, and Adrian had all speculated that Mickey holds the final power. With so many eyes on her, any attempt to use it could end up being neutralized before it ever gains traction. Sure, Jimmy inadvertently exposed this last lingering twist, but whether it turns out to be an advantage for him — or yet another problem — remains to be seen. Until then, Mickey may find herself navigating some increasingly tricky waters as everyone keeps watching her every move. That brings us to Zach Cornell — the only player left in the house holding onto a secret that actually carries some weight. Zach has remained tight-lipped about his ability to buy his way off the block with the $10k he won on the very first night in the game. If he's smart — and he seems to be — he'll keep it that way. For now, he's flying under the radar: he's not a target, but he's also not exactly sitting in a position of power. As the girls rally around Zach, trying to sway him to their side in a bid to save Amy over Adrian this week, Zach plays it cool. While nodding along, he quietly whispers to the cameras, 'I need Adrian in this game.' We'll have more updates as the vote draws closer. Stay tuned!
