Jackson Powers-Johnson walks back Steelers' Cam Heyward criticism: 'He did beat me'

The feud between Steelers' Cam Heyward and Raiders' Jackson Powers-Johnson has just been resolved — as the second-year offensive lineman walked back his frustrations directed at Pittsburgh's veteran defensive tackle. On Tuesday's episode of Maxx Crosby's podcast, Powers-Johnson retreated from his original "He didn't beat me, I beat myself" stance: Advertisement "I'm speaking to Cam — he did beat me," Powers-Johnson said. "He did beat me. I got my a-- kicked that game. I understand, but I want to go against the best of the best. So, I'm never going back down against that. I would love to play against him again, and I hope he has a great career." A few weeks ago, Powers-Johnson mentioned giving up his first sack to Heyward as his 'welcome to the NFL' moment, at the time refusing to credit the success of the play to the veteran Steelers defender. Heyward would take to his own podcast to fire back at the Raiders center's comments. It's a positive development that the Raider was willing to admit his own faults while also paying Heyward the respect he's due. Raiders center Jackson Powers-Johnson has gotten a burger named after him in Las Vegas

Raiders center Jackson Powers-Johnson has gotten a burger named after him in Las Vegas In the leadup to the 2024 NFL draft, Jackson Powers-Johnson talked about how he had a burger named after him while at Oregon. The Rimington Award winner was the draft's top center prospect and he hoped to get a similar burger named after him wherever he was drafted. It turned out to be the Raiders who made Powers-Johnson their pick at 44 overall. And now a year later, the 6-3, 334-pound center has officially done it. "I got a burger named after me," Powers-Johnson announced Wednesday after OTA practice. "It's at Barcode Burgers. It's called the Big Jax burger. I brought it to Vegas. It's super good, you guys should go try it." You won't find the Big Jax on the regular Barcode Burger menu. It's a seasonal item, just for this month. The sandwich features a beef patty, gouda mac-n-cheese bites, pepper jack cheese, a giant onion ring, applewood smoked bacon, bacon aioli, and blueberry bbq sauce. The burger was created by Jackson himself who is apparently not a big fan of veggies on his burger. Just lots of meat, cheese, and carbs for this Oline anchor.

Raiders O-Lineman Calls Out Steelers DT Cameron Heyward: ‘He Didn't Beat Me'

Las Vegas Raiders offensive lineman Jackson Powers-Johnson hopes to get another crack at Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Cameron Heyward. Las Vegas Raiders offensive lineman Jackson Powers-Johnson allowed the first sack of his NFL career against Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Cameron Heyward last season. However, Powers-Johnson doesn't think it had anything to do with Heyward's talent. Advertisement 'I'd say playing against Cam Heyward and giving up my first sack – ever, in my entire life,' Powers-Johnson said on 'The Rush' podcast. 'I would have to say that. He didn't beat me, I beat myself. I beat myself, I overset. And he got me, and said some choice words after, and I really hope he comes back for another year. That's all I'm gonna say.' Unfortunately for Powers-Johnson, the Steelers and Raiders aren't scheduled to play in 2025, so he won't get that opportunity unless the two teams meet in the postseason. The 36-year-old's football future seems to be up in the air heading into every offseason, too. Heyward does have two more years left on the three-year, $45 million contract extension he signed last offseason, so he could choose to play it out. He also showed no signs of slowing down last season. Advertisement In 2024, he recorded 71 tackles (35 solo), eight sacks and 11 passes defensed, keeping himself in the conversation as one of the best interior defensive linemen in the NFL. 'I think you don't really think about passing the torch right now,' Heyward said at OTA's last week. 'I think it's about, 'How can we make this team the best it can be?' It's not about holding secrets or anything. It's about making sure we're all growing at a pace that, by Week 1, we're ready to kick this thing up.' Steelers DT Cam Heyward roasts Raiders center Jackson Powers-Johnson in hilarious fashion

Steelers DT Cam Heyward roasts Raiders center Jackson Powers-Johnson in hilarious fashion Steelers veteran DT Cam Heyward has responded to Raiders center Jackson Powers-Johnson's callout — and it was hilarious. Powers-Johnson recently explained on Maxx Crosby's podcast that his "welcome to the NFL" moment was giving up a sack to Heyward — claiming that he beat himself, not any doing of the Steelers DT. He also added there were some words exchanged following the sack — which motivated Powers-Johnson to look forward to a rematch. On Heyward's podcast, co-host Hayden Walsh asked the Steelers veteran what he said to Powers-Johnson — and Heyward claimed he blacked out and couldn't remember. He also shot down Powers-Johnson's "I beat myself" comment: "That wasn't the only time he got beat, I'm going to be honest," Heyward laughed. "I'm going to be honest too — this is the other thing — he's saying this and we don't even have him scheduled this year. That's kind of funny." Heyward finished the roast of Powers-Johnson with a final shot at the "He didn't beat me" argument: "It ain't going to say that in the stat sheet, my dog. That's on you." Powers-Johnson may be 0-2 after Heyward's response — which makes you wonder why the second-year Raider bothered bringing any of this up this offseason.
