Bengal is not safe for women: BJP's Pradeep Bhandari slams TMC on Kolkata rape case
BJP National Spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari on Friday launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool Congress over the Kolkata alleged gangrape case and said that West Bengal is not safe for women under the Mamata Banerjee government. "Mamata Banerjee's government supports the rape of women in Bengal. The accused in the Kasba gangrape is an active member of Mamata Banerjee's party, Trinamool Congress. Mamata Banerjee runs and protects an army of goons in Bengal for her appeasement politics and political dominance. People of Trinamool Congress commit rape against women, erase evidence and the TMC government makes a one-week case. A person of Trinamool Congress has been found guilty in the Kasba gang rape. Bengal is not safe for women. Despite Mamata Banerjee being a woman chief minister, her thinking is anti-women," Bhandari told ANI. The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken suo-motu cognisance of the alleged gangrape of a law student at South Calcutta Law College in Kolkata's Kasba area on June 25, with NCW member Archana Majumdar expressing outrage over the incident. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Victoria Principal Is Almost 75, See Her Now Reportingly Undo Speaking to ANI, Majumdar said, "It's shocking. Indian Politician Urges Bitcoin Reserve Pilot
The national spokesperson for India's ruling party called on the country to consider launching a Bitcoin reserve pilot, saying that it would be a strategic step toward economic resilience. In an article for India Today, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari said the US strategic Bitcoin reserve and Bhutan's state-led mining operations signal that global finance is shifting toward crypto. He added that India, with an expanding renewable energy infrastructure, is positioned to create a sovereign Bitcoin strategy. 'This isn't a reckless pivot,' Bhandari wrote. 'It's a calculated step toward embracing digital assets' legitimacy.' India's crypto tax policy remains in limbo. Bhandari pointed out that in India, crypto is heavily taxed but unregulated. The government has imposed a 30% flat rate tax on virtual digital assets (VDAs) like BTC and Ether. However, it has yet to establish a regulatory framework for digital currencies. Under Section 115BBH of the country's Income Tax Act, profits from selling crypto are taxed at 30%. While purchase costs can be deducted, there are no provisions for other expenses or losses. In addition, a 1% Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) applies to all crypto transactions above $115, deducted from either the buyer or seller. During India's G20 presidency in 2023, Bhandari noted, the government helped coordinate a crypto working group with the International Monetary Fund. However, other nations are already racing ahead. Bhandari said that while recommendations will take their due course, jurisdictions like Russia, China, Brazil and other G20 nations led by the US are not pausing their crypto efforts to wait for a consensus. He also cited the US government's plan to expand its BTC reserves with budget-neutral purchases and pointed to three US states that already authorized Bitcoin as a reserve asset. Bhandari said India's path forward should include regulatory clarity, starting with a sovereign BTC reserve initiative. He added that clear regulation could bring transparency and oversight to the emerging asset class and enable innovation while protecting investors. 'India stands at a pivotal juncture,' Bhandari wrote. 'A measured Bitcoin strategy —perhaps a reserve pilot — could strengthen economic resilience and project modernity.'

BJP's Pradeep Bhandari criticises Congress for not officially apologising for imposing Emergency
New Delhi [India], June 25 (ANI): As India marks the 50th anniversary of the Emergency, the Bharatiya Janata Party is observing the 50 years of the imposition of Emergency as 'Samvidhan Hatya Diwas' 2025. Commenting on the occasion, BJP National Spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari sharply criticised the Congress party and said, 'Today marks the 50th anniversary of the Emergency, and till today the Congress party has not officially apologised for imposing the Emergency in the country.' He further added that if the Gandhi-Vadra family had even an ounce of constitutional morality, they would have apologised five decades ago. Bhandari did not forget to take a dig at Rahul Gandhi who often carries a copy of the Constitution, said, 'Those who travel with a copy of the Constitution these days belong to the same family that jailed over one lakh citizens during the Emergency, and snatched away the right to life guaranteed under Article 21'. He reminded that the Constitution was effectively suspended, democracy dismantled, and the fundamental rights of Indian citizens were stripped, all for the sake of clinging to power. He recounted the horror during the Emergency and how more than 30 lakh poor were forcefully sterilised, more than 250 journalists were imprisoned, and freedom of expression was crushed. He also mentioned the controversial MISA Act (The Maintenance of Internal Security Act) under which lakhs of people, including Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Vijay Deshmukh, Jaiprakash Narayan, along with several leaders of the opposition, were put behind bars. He called this act similar to the colonial-era laws used by the British to imprison Indian freedom fighters. MISA was a controversial act passed in 1971. It gave the then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's administration expansive powers, such as indefinite preventive detention of individuals. The Emergency was imposed on June 25, 1975, by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, following a recommendation made to the President of India, Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed, under Article 352 of the Constitution. It suspended elections, curtailed civil liberties, and granted sweeping powers to the central government, lasting until March 21, 1977. The period is widely regarded as one of the darkest chapters in Indian democratic history. (ANI)

BJP's Pradeep Bhandari accuses Congress of spreading
New Delhi [India], June 14 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari on Saturday accused Congress of spreading 'half-truths' about India's abstaining from voting at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) over the ceasefire in Gaza. Pradeep Bhandari advised Congress to read India's official explanation of vote at the UN before unleashing what he called a 'theatrical outrage.' 'Yet again, Congress spreads half-truths! Congress, before unleashing theatrical outrage, should take a moment to read India's official Explanation of Vote at the UN on June 12,' Bhandari wrote on X. Laying down India's official explanation condemning the loss of civilian lives in the Israel-Gaza conflict, Bhandari said abstention is not a deviation but a continuation of past votes. 'India unequivocally condemned the loss of civilian lives and the deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. India called for the protection of civilians, humanitarian access, and the release of remaining hostages. India reaffirmed support for a negotiated Two-State Solution--with Palestine and Israel coexisting peacefully within secure, recognised borders. India has consistently provided humanitarian assistance to Gaza, both bilaterally and via the UN. Our abstention is not a deviation, but a continuation of past votes (A/RES/77/247 & A/RES/79/232), based on our unwavering belief in dialogue and diplomacy as the only sustainable path forward.' Bhandari said. Bhandari further labelled the Congress as a 'fake news factory.' 'Congress & its intellectually dishonest Ecosystem has become nothing but a fake news factory!' he said. Bhandari's stern response came after Congress leader Pawan Khera termed India's response as an act of 'shameful betrayal' of the country's 'anti-colonial legacy'. In a detailed post on X, Khera highlighted India's history of standing with Palestine and the Palestine Liberation Organisation. Khera stated that India became the first non arab nation to recognise Palestine in 1974 and invited PLO leader Yasser Arafat to attend the 7th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit held in New Delhi in 1983. On Friday, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a permanent resolution demanding an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza. A total of 149 countries voted in favour of a ceasefire in Gaza in the UNGA; meanwhile, 19 countries abstained and 12 nations voted against the resolution. (ANI)
