The state govt would bear an additional burden of nearly 1,200 crore per annum due to the launch of new ration cards and the addition of members in the existing cards. Civil supplies commissioner DS Chauhan told TOI that the issuance of new ration cards and the increase in the number of beneficiaries was the result of a comprehensive four-month exercise, which included a two-month-long application collection drive through multiple citizen outreach platforms such as Prajapalana, Prajavani, Kulaganana, MeeSeva and others. "The use of technology and robust data verification has enabled the department to carry out one of the most extensive and efficient ration card expansions in the country, ensuring inclusion with accuracy and speed," Chauhan said.

Encroachers target old panchayat layouts in Hyd; 64 complaints filed in a day
1 2 Hyderabad: Old gram panchayat layouts on the outskirts of Hyderabad are increasingly falling prey to land encroachments, with 64 complaints filed in a single day via Hydra Prajavani, the city's public grievance platform. Over 60% of these complaints related to the illegal occupation of plots in older layouts, many dating back decades, where roads and parks have allegedly been converted into private or agricultural land. Complainants reported that encroachers are using Dharani passbooks to claim ownership and obstruct access for legitimate plot holders. In numerous instances, they are demolishing park boundaries and internal roads to extend their control over the land. Hydra Commissioner AV Ranganath reviewed several cases using Google Maps and instructed officials to conduct ground inspections. "Unless a layout is officially revised, its original roads and parks remain legally protected. We will examine each case and act after hearing both parties," he stated. Key complaints included — Korremula, Ghatkesar (Rangareddy) wherein 47 acres within a 1987 layout were allegedly encroached upon using Dharani passbooks, despite prior court orders. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Где два мира сливаются воедино SAUDI Забронировать Undo Another pertained to Peddamberpet, Abdullapurmet wherein the main road in a 500-plot layout was blocked following the renaming of the layout, cutting off access to the highway. And in Asifnagar, Mehdipatnam–Mallepally Road, around 3,800 square yards of dargah land were illegally occupied. Illegal construction continues despite notices issued by the GHMC. In Hayathnagar, the only park area in a 1966 layout was encroached upon and residents are calling for the protection of the 3,620 square yards of open space

Street vendors knock on GHMC's door against harassment
Street vendors from across the city arrived at the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation's grievance redressal platform 'Prajavani' on Monday, with complaints against removal of pushcarts by the police, and non-implementation of the The Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014. The 30 to 40 street vendors who arrived at the GHMC headquarters were representing hawkers from several areas, including Ameerpet, Dilsukhnagar, Kothapet, Saroornagar, Dilsukhnagar, Dammaiguda, Secunderabad and several others. They complained about Operation ROPE (Removal of Obstructive Parking & Encroachments) by the Traffic Police, which has majorly impacted the livelihood of the pushcart vendors. In the name of the operation, the police were removing and destroying the pushcarts, they said. Despite shifting to the lanes and bylanes, the vendors got no respite, and the police continued to impose fines and take away the weights, balances, and commodities as a threat, they said. 'Very recently, they deployed earthmovers to destroy the pushcarts near Saroornagar Rythu Bazar. The action was taken without any notice, and about 80 vendors were affected by it. They have had no work for the past few days. How will they live?' questioned Shree, Director of the Informal Labourers and Workers Federation, who led the delegation along with the National Hawkers Federation. The Street Vendors Act, 2014 exists only on paper, with a large number of vendors having the cards issued by GHMC, but not allotted any vending space, she complained. Two vendors each were selected from various locations of the city, to represent the issue, said. About four to five vendors were allowed inside the Prajavani programme to air their grievance, while all others were made to stay outside. Meanwhile, two children from Moosapet were brought to the Prajavani programme with a request for development of a colony park. Space allocated for park in Anjaneyanagar colony was encroached, and was cleared by the authorities, but ₹50 lakh sanctioned earlier for development of the park has not been released, they said. A total 62 complaints were received at the GHMC headquarters, while 104 complaints came through the programme conducted at the six zonal headquarters, a statement from GHMC informed. Majority were complaints pertaining to the Town Planning department.

HYDRA resolves sewage issue within 24 hours
Hyderabad: Following a complaint received by Prajavani on Monday, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRA) swiftly addressed a sewage issue within 24 hours, providing much-needed relief to residents of Ramachandraiah Colony in Mallampet, Dundigal mandal (Medchal-Malkajgiri district). The colony residents reported that a section of their community is experiencing severe sewage overflow caused by blockage in drainage connecting Chennam Lake to Rellakunta. With water levels exceeding a metre, numerous homes were inundated with sewage, compelling families to leave their residences. 'Our homes have been flooded with sewage; we have been living outdoors for a month,' the complaint submitted via HYDRA Prajavani said. The resident reported that sewage from the Nizampet municipality is contaminating Chennam Lake, which is supposed to drain into Rellakunta in Bollaram municipality. Unfortunately, blockages along the route hindered this essential flow. According to the complaint, the issue arose when developers of a nearby layout obstructed a section of the drainage channel, exacerbating the situation. They expressed frustration that despite previously alerting the authorities, they voiced their disappointment over lack of action. Following the complaint, HYDRA Commissioner AV Ranganath took initiative to investigate the issue through Google Maps and satellite imagery. He swiftly directed officials to act. On Tuesday, HYDRA personnel reached the location and cleared the obstructed drainage channel, allowing stagnant sewage to flow out of the colony. The residents expressed happiness that HYDRA resolved the issue within 24 hours of filing the complaint.
