BJP wants govt. to make public river water utilisation plans

The BJP has demanded the Congress government to put before the people about its plans to make full use of the allotted 299 TMC of Krishna River water and also the projected use of the Godavari River waters for the benefit of farmers of Telangana. Addressing a press conference at the State office on Wednesday, general secretary K. Venkateswarlu and secretary S. Prakash Reddy said the current government and the BRS government had totally failed to protect the interests of the State in not completing the pending projects on time but have been blaming the Centre for political gain. 'Has the BRS government before or the Congress government now ever informed the people about how they intend to make use of the river waters? After utterly failing to make such plans, they are going on criticising the Centre to provoke regional sentiments,' they said. The Centre had already rejected the A.P. government's Banakacherla project but both the Congress and BRS parties have been continuing their tirade. 'The Centre will take the right decision at the right time following a scientific study and considering the interests of the States involved. Meanwhile it is better for the government to focus on taking up repairs of existing projects showing wear and tear,' attested the leaders. The party also charged the government of putting farmers under distress due to the shoddy fertiliser supply due to the bankruptcy of Markfed despite the Centre ensuring adequate supply this year. Mr. Venkateshwarlu and Mr. Reddy said the government cannot shift the responsibility on the Centre when it has to see that the fertiliser distribution is done efficiently as more than 12 lakh tonnes valued at about ₹16,000 crore have been supplied to TG with up to 30,000 tonnes on the standby at a subsidised cost. The government has also failed in taking stringent action against the dealers supplying spurious seeds despite complaints, they added.

Cricketers rally in support of RDT, demands restoration of FCRA clearance

Anantapur: In a rare show of solidarity, cricketers from across Anantapur district organised a massive rally in support of Rural Development Trust (RDT), demanding immediate restoration of its FCRA (Foreign Contribution Regulation Act) license. The rally, held in Anantapur town, was led by the district's senior and junior cricketers, women players, Ranji cricketers (past and present), and members of the cricketing fraternity. Starting from Clock Tower, the rally proceeded through Saptagiri Circle, Iron Bridge, Sangamesh Circle, and concluded at the Vincent Ferrer statue near the Collector's Office, where a public meeting was held. Participants raised slogans like 'Save RDT' and called on the Central Government to reinstate the FCRA approval to allow RDT's services to continue in the region. Speaking at the event, District Cricket Association President Prakash Reddy said it was everyone's collective responsibility to protect RDT, which has been serving the people of Anantapur for over 55 years. Former Association President Pagadala Mallikarjuna added that the organisation had played a crucial role in improving the lives of people across communities and urged both the Central and State Governments to support RDT's continued presence. Macha Ramalinga Reddy, who chaired the rally, thanked participants and emphasized that the protest movement would intensify until the FCRA license was restored. IPL cricketer Vijay Kumar echoed these sentiments, stating that it was the moral responsibility of the community to stand by an institution that has done so much for the district. Prominent figures who participated included Deputy Mayor Koganti Vijay Bhaskar Reddy, Narpa Satyanarayana Reddy, Sha Buddin, and Prasad Reddy, along with several former Ranji players like Suresh, Fayaz, Shahshavali, Murali, and Sardar. 'It is an economic war, political war is already on': BJP leader Prakash Reddy after India bans all imports from Pakistan

HYDERABAD: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Prakash Reddy stated on Sunday that while the Indian government is implementing comprehensive measures to combat terrorism, military action remains the final recourse. He elaborated that the suspension of trade relations through the ban on exports and imports serves as a strategic measure to pressure the Pakistani administration into taking decisive steps against terrorism. — ANI (@ANI) Reddy said, "The government of India is taking all measures, war is the last option... Banning the exports and imports is also one such measure to compel the Pakistani government to take stern action against terrorism... It is an economic war ... Political war is already on ... I appeal to the people of Pakistan to go to any extent to throw out the present government that supports terrorism, and not elect any such person that supports terrorism directly or indirectly..." The senior BJP politician urged Pakistani citizens to refrain from voting for candidates who provide either direct or indirect backing to terrorist activities. The Indian government has recently implemented a comprehensive prohibition on all products that originate from or are exported via Pakistan, irrespective of their import classification. This directive, issued through the Commerce and Industry Ministry's notification, has brought bilateral commerce to a standstill. The Commerce and Industry's Gazette notification issued on Saturday reads, "In exercise of power conferred by Section 3 read with Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992, read with Paragraph 1.02 and 2.01 of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023, as amended from time to time, the Central government hereby inserts a new Para 2.20A in the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023 as follows with immediet effect." "Para 2.20A: Prohibition on Import from Pakistan. Direct or indirect Import or transit of all goods originating in or exported from Pakistan, whether or not freely importable or otherwise permitted, shall be prohibited with immediate effect, until further orders. This restriction is imposed in the interest of national security and public policy. Any exception to this prohibition shall require prior approval of the Government of India," the Commerce and Industry Ministry's notification added. Following the tragic incident in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives, this action takes place during escalating hostilities between India and Pakistan.
