These Beats Earbuds Are My New Favorites for Workouts, and They're Down to an All-Time Low Price for Prime Day

Amazon Prime day sale: The Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 are available at their lowest price ever for Amazon Prime Day. These ear-hook style true-wireless earbuds normally cost $250, but they're now down to $180 on both Amazon and Best Buy. That's the lowest price we've seen on earbuds that are still relatively new to market. Grab them while you can since this is a limited-time deal and we don't know how long it'll stick around. Beats launched the Powerbeats Pro 2 earlier this year after a six-year hiatus in the lineup. The new pair introduced a built-in heart rate tracker, improved the ergonomics, and borrowed the Apple H2 chip from the AirPods Pro 2. I've been using them on and off since launch, and these are my new go-to earbuds to use for workouts. The Powerbeats Pro 2 are feature-packed Prakhar Khanna/CNET Beats' new workout earbuds represent one of the biggest generational updates to this model. They come equipped with the Apple H2 chip, which puts them on par with the AirPods Pro 2. Beats says it's "leveraged Apple's best noise canceling." I find that I get a good, secure seal when I'm wearing them, so the noise cancellation performance is pretty good. However, they're tuned differently compared with the flagship Apple earbuds. The Powerbeats Pro 2 are more bassy, which some gym enthusiasts might appreciate. The best part about them is their fit, thanks to their ear hook build. The music never left my ears. Whether I was on a run or in the gym, the earbuds sat comfortably. More than the fit, I was surprised by the voice-calling performance. As CNET's David Carnoy noted in his review, "Thanks to the H2 chip, new microphones and voice accelerometers to help pinpoint your voice, Beats has made some big improvements in the voice department." Read more: Best True Wireless Earbuds With Ear Hooks for 2025 Android users have to manually start the heart rate monitor in the app or use the control button on the buds. Screenshot by David Carnoy/CNET I haven't relied on their heart rate monitoring system, because I have an Apple Watch. And if you're like me and you already own the Apple Watch, your iPhone will prioritize readings from the Watch. If you don't own one, it'll show the heart rate data in Apple's Health app. Like other Beats products, the Powerbeats Pro 2 are also platform-agnostic, and the company says all Android fitness and wellness apps with heart rate monitoring capabilities are compatible with its earbuds. That said, the Powerbeats Pro 2 offer a few Apple-exclusive features, like personalized spatial audio with head tracking, hands-free Siri, audio sharing and iCloud pairing across all your Apple devices logged in to your iCloud account. Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 key specs Weight: 8.7 grams per earbud (case weighs 69 grams) Bluetooth 5.3 Apple H2 chip Custom designed, dual-element dynamic diaphragm transducer IPX4 splash-proof and sweat-proof Active noise cancellation (adaptive) Transparency mode Adaptive EQ Spatial audio with dynamic head tracking Six microphones total (one dedicated voice microphone on each earbud) Sensors (per bud): Optical in-ear detection, optical heart rate monitoring, accelerometer, gyroscope Customizable controls Five sizes of soft silicon ear tips (XS, S, M, L, XL) Wireless charging case (Qi compatible or via USB-C cable) Battery life: Up to 10 hours with ANC off (8 hours with ANC on) 35 additional hours from charging case with ANC off (28 hours with ANC on) Fast Fuel: 5-minute charge gets you up to 1.5 hours of playback Telephony: Up to five microphones employed for phone calls, wind-noise reduction, voice accelerometer isolates user's voice Colors: Electric Orange, jet black, Hyper Purple and Quick Sand The case isn't easy to carry Prakhar Khanna/CNET Though Beats made the Powerbeats Pro 2 50% smaller, the case is still on the bigger side. It isn't as comfortable as carrying other earbud cases, especially when you go for a run. I leave the case at home most of the time, but if you want a pair of earbuds that's easy to carry in a case, the Powerbeats Pro 2 aren't for you. That said, if portability isn't a priority, the Powerbeats Pro 2 can be counted among the best ear hook earbuds on the market right now, which is why they're on CNET's list of the best wireless earbuds of 2025. They offer good sound quality and great noise cancellation and voice call performance, and they stay snug in your ears. They also offer heart rate detection. With the $50 discount, this might be the best time to buy them. My Favorite Laptop for Travel Just Hit a New All-Time Low Price

Back in January at CES 2025, I knew the moment I saw the Asus Zenbook A14 that it would be my new favorite travel laptop. It boasts an incredible 32 hours (!) of battery life, a Snapdragon X Plus chipset, 16GB of RAM, 512GB of storage and an OLED display. It's also one of the lightest 14-inch laptops you can buy, weighing even less than Apple's MacBook Air. With all of that going for it, it's no wonder the Zenbook A14 ended up winning a CNET Editors' Choice Award and a Best of CES Award for best laptop. The single biggest downside at that time was the price. But I just spotted the Arm-powered laptop on sale at Best Buy for $250 off, bringing it down to a new all-time low price. My favorite version of this laptop, in the Zabriskie beige color, is now available for a discount of $250. As a result, the $1,000 laptop is going for just $750, no special codes needed. The first time the Asus Zenbook A14 went on sale was for Memorial Day, and even then it only saw a $200 discount. If you've been looking for a lightweight, midrange laptop, this sale is your chance to score one you'll love at its best price to date. Why I recommend the Asus Zenbook A14 Prakhar Khanna/ZDNET The Asus Zenbook A14 is one of the best laptops you can buy right now and there are three reasons it's become my go-to device. First, it offers a long battery life, and by long, I mean you can extend it up to two days without needing a charger. I can carry it in my travel backpack without worrying about the availability of a power outlet. In fact, the Snapdragon X variant is only the second laptop CNET has reviewed with a battery life of more than 24 hours, with the HP OmniBook X 14 lasting an hour longer. That brings me to the second reason I like using the Asus Zenbook A14: its OLED screen. The HP laptop lasted longer during CNET's test thanks to an LCD display, but the Zenbook doesn't compromise on its screen to deliver a stellar battery life. Hey, did you know? CNET Deals texts are free, easy and save you money. You get a 14-inch OLED panel with a 1,920x1,200-pixel resolution. It might not be as sharp as the 2.8K OLED screen on the Asus Zenbook S 14, but you won't find another laptop with this combo of 24-hour+ battery life and OLED display in this price range. I appreciate the OLED screen for its excellent contrast and deep black levels. In CNET's tests with a Spyder X colorimeter, it showed 100% coverage of the sRGB and P3 spaces and 97% of AdobeRGB. My only slight annoyance is the thick bezels, which make it a little less immersive than other Asus laptops. Third, the Asus Zenbook A14 is surprisingly lightweight. At just 2.4 pounds, it's the lightest Arm laptop you can buy. And Asus hasn't traded build quality for the lightweight form factor. Its Ceraluminum build is both rigid and lightweight, keeping the weight in check without making the laptop feel cheap or flimsy. Plus, it's scratch, smudge and fingerprint resistant. Things to keep in mind before you buy the Asus Zenbook A14 Prakhar Khanna/CNET Asus Zenbook A14's keyboard offers a satisfactory experience and the trackpad is reliable. The A14's Snapdragon X Plus variant (on sale) is more powerful than the Snapdragon X model, but it isn't built for power-intensive tasks. If you want to use power-hungry video editing tools, this laptop is not for you. The M4 MacBook Air might better serve you for this use. This Asus Zenbook A14 is for those who are always on the go and want an extra-long battery life without compromising on screen quality. It's a great laptop, particularly at this price -- and especially if you're looking for an ultralight, ultralong-running laptop for travel. If this isn't quite what you're looking for or you want to shop around a bit, it's worth checking out our running list of the best laptop deals happening now.
