Kanpur: Many corporators in a meeting held with mayor Pramila Pandey complained of poor progress of desilting of nullahs and cleaning of drains in their wards and blamed encroachments at several places for the tardy desilting process. The mayor on Monday called a meeting of the corporators and the officials to discuss the issues pertaining to water-logging and cleaning of drains and nullahs at Kanpur Municipal Corporation headquarters. Anand Shukla, corporator of ward 35 (Kalyanpur North), complained that 70 percent work had been completed but one big nullah had not been cleaned so far. Zonal officer RK Singh informed that this work could not be completed because residents of one lane were not allowing the staff to open the nullah due to a lot of encroachments. Corporator of ward 43 (Nawabganj) Raj Kishore said people had encroached the nullah at four places due to which cleaning had not taken place near Geeta Park for the last two years. Moreover, sewer lines of a few lanes were also choked. Ghanshyam Gupta, corporator ward 33 (Vijay Nagar), claimed that Mahatma Gandhi Road nullah was not cleaned. The mayor not only listened to the problems of the corporators but also sought explanations from the officers concerned. She has directed the zonal officers and the engineering department to redress the problems and get the nullahs de-silted and drains cleaned through machines. The mayor said that KMC had constituted a 21-member team and deployed it at a dedicated command and control centre to receive and redress the water logging problems during the monsoon. Kanpur: Principal secretary urban development Amrit Abhijat on Sunday visited the city and reviewed the development work. He also engaged in discussions with Mayor Pramila Pandey and other officials regarding the ongoing projects. During his visit to The Sports Hub, the principal secretary suggested to prepare other useful sports projects and forward to the government for approval to encourage youths towards sports in the city. He sought all the details and how the public was benefiting from the sports structure. He also planted a sapling of redled (Sindoor) at the Palika stadium campus to create awareness for the environment. Abhijat thereafter visited the site where Jal Nigam was laying pipeline and directed the officers to place special emphasis on safety measures during development work so that people do not have to face any problem. He said that special attention should be paid to public facilities to ensure that no person had to face any inconvenience. During his visit to Sisamau Nullah, he asked the officials to lay a slab over the nullah and develop a nursery to prevent encroachment while increasing greenery of the city at the same time. The principal secretary said, "We are committed to the development of Kanpur and necessary steps are being taken to complete the projects in a timely manner." Expressing her gratitude to the principal secretary, Mayor Pramila Pandey said that the guidance and support of the chief secretary was very important for the development of the city. 1 2 3 4 Kanpur: To celebrate the success of Operation Sindoor against terrorism, the Bharatiya Janata Party organised a Tiranga Yatra in Kanpur. The north district started their rally from Kargil Park in Motijheel, while the south district began from Shubham Dwivedi's house in Shyam Nagar. The yatra witnessed the participation of MP Ramesh Awasthi, MLA Neelima Katiyar, Surendra Maithani, Mayor Pramila Pandey, the North district president, and other BJP functionaries. The yatra was taken out through various localities with participants waving the national flag and banners praising the Indian armed forces . The yatra from Kargil Park proceeded through Parade, Naveen Market, and adjacent areas, whilst the South district rally covered major routes in Shyam Nagar and surrounding localities. Local BJP leaders addressed the gatherings at multiple points, highlighting the strategic importance of Operation Sindoor and commending the armed forces' precision in executing the mission. Kanpur to get ultra-modern convention centre by June

Kanpur: The city is all set to have a grand and ultra-modern convention centre by the first week of June this year. City mayor Pramila Pandey on Thursday conducted a surprise inspection of the under-construction convention centre and directed officlas concerned to ensure its completion by the first week of June. Following the inspection, the Mayor emphasized the importance of timely delivery and called the project a major milestone of her tenure and will soon be dedicated to the people. Describing the convention centre as a 'dream project', Pandey said the project aligns with key national missions such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' and 'Make in India', and is being developed under the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to serve as a model for the state's development trajectory. Pandey clarified that the convention centre, once operational, will be managed by the Kanpur Municipal Corporation (KMC), and a detailed manual was being prepared by Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore for the long-term plan of operation and maintenance. The mayor said the convention centre would not only elevate Kanpur's identity to new heights, but also become a vital hub for social, cultural and business events of the city. She said that the idea to build such a centre in an industrial and cultural city like Kanpur during her visit to Gujarat nearly four years ago, where she saw a world-class convention facility. "The design of the convention centre is specifically based on the theme of the lotus flower, which symbolises beauty, purity and creativity in Indian culture," she said. Providing details of the project, the mayor said the convention centre, being built at a cost of Rs 96.1 crore, will feature two exhibition halls of 16,000 and 12,000 square feet, a conference room with a capacity of 300 seats, three meeting rooms each accommodating 100 seats, six guest rooms and two suites in the residential facilities, a food court of 8,000 square feet and parking for 68 vehicles. Senior officials of KMC were also present during the Mayor's inspection.

1 2 Kanpur: Mayor Pramila Pandey on Wednesday visited Collectorganj Galla Mandi (grain market) and witnessed the damages caused by the fierce fire inferno. A fire broke out in Galla Mandi on Tuesday and soon it went out of control. The fire brigade department had to spend around four hours to douse the flames, but by that time 110 grain shops and grain stored there had turned into ashes. More than 70 vehicles including e-rickshaws, scooties, bikes and cars were also 14 persons suffered burn injuries and five out of them are serious. Mayor, after witnessing the site and talking to traders, assured them that she would discuss the compensation issue with the district magistrate and would make efforts for early disbursement of compensation. The fire victim traders told the Mayor that the fire broke out at a chemical godown and by the time they could understand, fire flames engulfed their shops. Later talking to media persons, Pandey stated that this market was raised during the British period. Meanwhile, a delegation of Bhartiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal met district magistrate and demanded early disbursement of compensation to the victim traders and investigation in fire inferno. The delegation stated that traders had suffered a huge loss in crores and an appropriate compensation should be provided to them. Strict action should be taken against the guilty persons. State president, Gyanesh Mishra commented that fire incidents are often caused by short circuit. To check this menace Kesco should conduct awareness programmes. Moreover, four fire brigade vans should be parked in Chacha Nehru hospital premises permanently. He also demanded a permanent structure should be raised in Galla Mandi. In another submission, Mishra suggested that government officials should not harass the fire victims. The district magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh assured the delegation he would send list of fire victims to the chief minister for damages. He also asked suggestions from traders to suggest the measures for preventing fire incidents in the markets.
