Sri Ram Sene's protest march stopped by police in Belagavi
Belagavi: Hundreds of Sri Ram Sene activists, led by their chief Pramod Mutalik, attempted to launch the 'Ingali Chalo' protest march from Belagavi on Thursday, condemning the recent assault on cow vigilantes at Ingali village in Hukkeri taluk. However, police detained the activists before the march could commence. The protest was in response to the incident where five Sri Ram Sene members were allegedly tied to a coconut tree and assaulted by locals in Ingali village. Belagavi police have since arrested four accused and registered a suo-motu case in connection with the attack. According to Belagavi superintendent of police Dr Bhimashankar Guled, the conflict was triggered after the activists allegedly entered the residence of a Muslim family, causing panic among women inside. He said this intrusion provoked the reaction from villagers. The SP also raised concerns about the background of one of the assaulted individuals, who is a rowdy sheeter, and questioned whether he officially represented the Sri Ram Sene. Rejecting the SP's version of events as 'false' and 'misleading,' Sri Ram Sene launched the 'Ingali Chalo' campaign. Protesters first formed a human chain at Rani Channamma Circle, raised slogans against the govt, and later marched to the deputy commissioner's office to submit a memorandum. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trending in in 2025: Local network access control [Click Here] Esseps Learn More Undo As they proceeded toward Ingali, police detained several leaders, including district president Gangadhar Kulkarni and Ravikumar Kokitkar. Earlier, while addressing the gathering, Pramod Mutalik condemned the attack on SRS workers, stating, "This is not Pakistan or Afghanistan. Assaulting cow vigilantes in such a Taliban-style manner is unconstitutional. The govt must take strict action. If this repeats, the Hindu community will respond." In response to SP Guled's remarks questioning the involvement of a rowdy sheeter in the vigilante group, Mutalik defended the individual. "Today, police are branding even Hindu activists like Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat and Chakravarthy Sulibele as rowdies. This is an attempt to divert public attention from the real issue." He alleged that the administration is trying to protect the accused and suppress cow protection efforts by discrediting the activists.

Police foil Sri Ram Sene's ‘Ingali Chalo' rally; Muthalik detained
Sri Ram Sene activists took out a 'Ingali Chalo' rally on Thursday in protest against the alleged assault on their activists in Ingali village in Belagavi district. The activists formed a human chain at Rani Channamma circle. They took out a rally to the Deputy Commissioner's office raising slogans against the State government and the police. They demanded that the accused who had assaulted five of their activists be brought to book. SRS founder Pramod Mutalik addressed the protestors. Later, the activists submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan. Police took Mr. Mutalik and other activists into custody after they insisted on walking to Ingali village, despite denial of permission by the police. 'Five of our youth were tied to a coconut tree and beaten up mercilessly by the residents in Ingali. I want to ask the government if this is Karnataka or Pakistan or Afghanistan? Is there is no protection to young people involved in the task of protecting cows? The Belagavi police are saying that it is not the job of SRS to protect and that those who find suspicious cattle transport should complain to the police. This is not acceptable. How many cows have the police saved till now? We are only doing what the police is failing to do. There is an anti-cow slaughter Act in Karnataka, but still illegal cattle transport and slaughter continue'', he said. He demanded that the State government provide protection to 'cow protectors'. Instead, it was protecting those who assaulted cow protectors. If the government does not protect us, we will launch a Statewide agitation,' he said. Mr. Muthalik alleged that the police were opening rowdy sheets on SRS activists on the directions of the government. Even senior activists like Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat and Chakravarti Sulibele were facing cases, he said. Meanwhile, Imambi Multani, one of the villagers facing investigation in the assault, alleged that the SRS activists had demanded money from cattle traders in the village and when they refused, they allegedly tried to outrage the modesty of a woman. 'This angered the residents, who tied them up and beat them. Hindus and Muslims were part of the mob that beat them up,'' she told reporters in Ingali on Wednesday.

Karnataka CM should seek apology for RCB stampede: Pramod Mutalik
'Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should seek a public apology for the Bengaluru stampede deaths, and stop playing politics over the incident,' Pramod Mutalik, Sri Ram Sene founder, said in Belagavi on June 5. 'What has happened is sad and unfortunate. But, it is not right to play politics over it. No one should play the blame game or play party politics over it. I appeal to the ruling party and the opposition in Karnataka to keep their mouths shut,' he said. 'There is no doubt that organising the victory celebrations without proper preparation in Bengaluru was a mistake by the government of Karnataka. It failed to estimate the number of people who would turn up and ensure foolproof security arrangements. The CM should seek an apology from the people for such errors. There is nothing wrong in it,' he said. To a query, he said that it was wrong of the CM to compare the stampede at the Maha Kumbh to the one at the victory celebrations of the RCB in Bengaluru. 'Both are different events. You can not compare them. The opposition should also stop blaming and insulting the State Government. It is a sad movement, and all of us should keep our mouths shut,' he said. Mr. Mutalik demanded that cricket players and IPL pay compensation of ₹1 crore to the family of each deceased person. 'If the players exist today, it is because of their fans. They are not only earning money by playing matches, but also by endorsements. IPL and BCCI earn crores of rupees by organising matches. What is the accountability and social responsibility of cricket players and bodies like IPL and BCCI? Are the cricket players sensitive to the problems of their fellow human beings? I have heard that they have plans to release ₹5 lakh per deceased family. That is not enough. The cricket players should also bear a part of the burden,' he said.

Sri Ram Sene seeks ban on SDPI, blames Kerala activists for violence in Mangaluru
Sri Ram Sene founder Pramod Mutalik has said that SDPI activists are engaged in communally violent acts and demanded a ban on the organisation. 'We have clear evidence to show that SDPI activists from Kerala are responsible for communal violence in Mangaluru and other places. They need to be arrested. SDPI should be banned, like the PFI,' he said. He was speaking to reporters here on Sunday. He said that caste-based discrimination is deep-rooted and is nearly impossible to eliminate. 'Basavanna fought all his life to eradicate the caste system and establish a new social order. But we have confined him to a caste and we take pride in following the caste system. We are also limiting B.R. Ambedkar to a particular caste. This is deplorable. We should forget all our caste distinctions and announce that we are proud Hindus,' he said. He urged the people not to donate to maths and other Hindu religious institutions. 'They are all well developed. They do not need your support. It is Hindu activists like us who need your support. Most of our resources are spent in fighting cases,' he said. He said that the Love Jihad prevention helpline has received over 5,000 calls in one year. 'We have resolved over 90% of the cases and provided solace to girls. Our activists trace address and phone numbers of Muslim boys who lure girls. They find the girls, convince them of the conspiracy and succeed in reuniting them with their parents,' he said. 'We are not opposed to genuine love. But we will not tolerate fake love and attempts to convert innocent Hindu girls to Islam with false promises,' he said. He said that he is confident that the evil practice of Love Jihad will end soon and the helpline will be closed. Sri Ram Sene South India coordinator Sundaresh Naregal said that the helpline is facing several challenges like logistics, funding and legal problems. All those who claim to be Hindutva leaders do not send their children for protests and agitations. Ordinary activists like us are left to fend for ourselves. Helpline coordinator Basavaraj Goudar said that Sri Ram Sene activists face several problems in battling Love Jihad incidents. Police do not cooperate at all times. Several times, the girls are brainwashed. However, 'we have succeeded in battling all such problems,' he said.
