Lark Hill surprise choice for RugbyWA grand final venue
The grand finals for Perth's district rugby competitions will be played for the first time at Lark Hill next month. The decision to again head away from the sport's western suburbs heartland was made even though the hometown Rockingham rugby club does not compete in the top-tier competition. Rockingham is, however, having a terrific season in the second-tier championship grade, where their 11-1 record has them top of the ladder and four wins clear of their rivals, with six games to play. It also shares top spot in community-grade rugby with a current 8-2 record, while its under-18s and women's side both have three wins this season. RugbyWA officials confirmed the big day would be a grand final festival of rugby on Saturday, August 30. Last season's deciders were played at Hartfield Park in Forrestfield, home of the Kalamunda Bulls. It featured 17 grand finals played across multiple fields, culminating with the Premier Grade clash between Palmyra and eventual champions Associates.
