Ruben Amorim rewards Man United starlet after 'taking a shine' to him
Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has included a youngster in the pre-season squad travelling to the United States after he impressed in training. United confirm US tour 2025 squad Earlier today, United confirmed their 32-man squad for the pre-season tour to the United States. United will be based at Chicago Fire's training facility during the duration of their pre-season tour. The Red Devils are set to participate in the Premier League Summer Series, which will see them come up against West Ham United at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Saturday before returning to Chicago to face Bournemouth. Amorim and his players will then conclude their stay with a match against Everton in Atlanta. A number of youngsters have been named in the squad including Reece Munro, Dermot Mee, Jack Fletcher, Sekou Kone and Bendito Mantato. One starlet who was not expected to be part of the travelling contingent but has surprisingly been included is Ethan Williams. Amorim is a huge fan of Williams A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Williams would be left out of the US pre-season tour ahead of an imminent loan exit. Williams spent the latter half of last season out on loan at Cheltenham, where he did well, managing two goals and as many assists in 17 appearances. It was stated that the 19-year-old is attracting a lot of interest, with many clubs eager to have him for the upcoming 2025/26 campaign. Nathan Salt of the Daily Mail notes about William's inclusion, 'Boost for Ethan Williams as there has been a late reshuffle of the Manchester United tour squad and he's got the call to go to the US.' 'Good opportunity for the youngster to further elevate his profile.' According to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook, Williams was added to the list because Amorim rates him. 'Told Amorim has taken a shine to Ethan Williams, who has travelled with Manchester United for their pre-season tour of the US.' Williams is likely to be given a chance to prove himself and standout performances could convince the club to keep him in the first team rather than sending him out on loan. Man Utd forced to immediately change pre-season plans after arriving for US tour
Manchester United have flown out to Chicago for their pre-season tour of the United States, where Ruben Amorim and his coaching staff will try to whip the squad into shape Manchester United are braced for hot weather at the start of their pre-season tour of the United States. United have flown over the Atlantic to take part in the Premier League Summer Series and will have to adapt to scorching temperatures and sapping humidity. Ruben Amorim and his players trained for the first time with new signing Bryan Mbeumo at Carrington on Tuesday before jetting off America. They will face West Ham in New Jersey on Sunday before games against Bournemouth in Chicago and Everton in Atlanta. Fans will get a first look at United's new-look attack featuring Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha before they play Fiorentina at Old Trafford in their final pre-season game on August 9. Amorim will then have eight days to make final tweaks before they start their Premier League campaign against Arsenal on August 17. There is a lot of work to do – both on the training pitch and in the transfer market – but United have been forced to make changes to their plans in the US due to the weather. The Club World Cup showed just how hot it can be in North America, with matches played in dangerous conditions, and those high temperatures have not subsided. The Daily Mail says that United have taken note of the temperatures in Chicago next week, where they will play Bournemouth at Soldier Field and where they are based for training. The mercury could pass 30 degrees in the Windy City, but the humidity will make it feel much hotter and create stifling conditions for the players. United have factored this into the players' training routines and nutrition plans, with water breaks a must. United's coaching staff have certainly been warned by the much-talked about conditions at the Club World Cup. "Honestly, the heat is incredible. The other day I had to lie down on the ground because I was really dizzy,' Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez said. "Playing in this temperature is very dangerous, it's very dangerous. Moreover, for the spectacle, for the people who come to enjoy the stadium, for the people who watch it at home. The game, the speed of the game is not the same, everything becomes very slow." Enzo Maresca said it was nearly 'impossible' to train in Philadelphia last month, with temperatures at 37 degrees, but with 45 per cent humidity, which makes it feel like 45 degrees. "This morning's session has been very, very, very short, otherwise you don't save energy for the game,' he said. "It's been just about tomorrow's game, planning for tomorrow, and that's it. No more than that. As you can see, it's not easy in these conditions with these temperatures. We are going to try to do our best." Ruben Amorim's touching gesture to Bryan Mbeumo during first Man Utd training session
Manchester United completed the signing of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford on Monday and the 25-year-old took part in his first training session at Carrington the following day Ruben Amorim gave new signing Bryan Mbeumo a warm welcome as the forward took part in his first Manchester United training session. Mbeumo joined United from Brentford in a £71million deal on Monday and the 25-year-old has linked up with his new team-mates ahead of their pre-season tour of the US. The squad flew out to America on Tuesday, where they will take part in the Premier League Summer Series and face West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton. However, United took part in one last training session at Carrington before boarding their flight. And Amorim gathered the rest of the squad together to welcome the new addition, with the Red Devils boss leading a round of applause. Mbeumo is United's third senior signing so far this summer, with Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon having joined from Wolves and Cerro Porteno respectively. Mbeumo rejected the chance to reunite with former Brentford boss Thomas Frank at Tottenham and he has explained why he was so keen to sign for United. "From the start, I wanted to join this massive club. Now I'm here, I'm just really happy," he said. "For me, it's the biggest club in the world. The fans are crazy, the stadium is amazing, and every player wants to play here. My first top was Manchester United's top with [Cristiano] Ronaldo behind. It's just such a big club and I'm really happy to be here." Mbeumo has also hailed Amorim, adding: "He seems really close to his players. His mentality, his winning thinking every time, this is the thing I need. I always wanted to play at the highest level. Now I'm here and I just want to show what I can do. "It seems to be a really good group, the spirit is really important and I've only heard good things about the gaffer and the team. It's really important for me to create links as soon as possible with my team-mates, in and out of the pitch. "Spirit is important and I want to be involved as soon as possible. My dream was to become a football player and play for one of the biggest teams in the world. When you're actually doing it, it's completely different and I'm just happy to be here." And United's director of football, Jason Wilcox, is confident Mbeumo is a "perfect fit" for the Red Devils. "Bryan's goals and assists record in the Premier League is exceptional, his remarkable consistency has put him amongst the most productive players in England for the last three seasons," he said. "Bryan's belief in our project and determination to join the club confirmed that he was the perfect fit for Manchester United and the culture that we are developing. We are delighted to have secured another one of our primary targets ahead of the pre-season tour. "The experience in the US will be the perfect opportunity for Bryan to work with Ruben and his new team-mates as we prepare for an exciting season ahead."

Harry Maguire not with Man Utd squad flying to USA due to personal matter
The 32-year-old defender was a half-time introduction in Saturday's 0-0 friendly draw with Leeds but was replaced in the 74th minute. Maguire was conspicuous by his absence from United's 32-man tour squad announced on Tuesday. PA understands it is due to a personal matter rather than injury, with the club hoping he will be able to join the group in due course. 🚨 TRAVELLING SQUAD 👀 Ruben has selected 32 Reds for the US leg of #MUTOUR25 📋 — Manchester United (@ManUtd) July 22, 2025 Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia have unsurprisingly joined Barcelona-bound Marcus Rashford in being omitted from the travelling party heading for Chicago. The quintet are searching for new clubs and have been training away from Ruben Amorim's first-team squad since indicating that they wish to explore a future away from Old Trafford. Bryan Mbeumo is part of the group after completing his move from Brentford for a fee rising to £71millon on Monday. Fellow summer arrivals Matheus Cunha, whose partner recently gave birth, and Diego Leon are also on the plane. A post shared by Manchester United (@manchesterunited) Lisandro Martinez is included as he continues his rehabilitation from a cruciate ligament injury sustained in February. PA understands the United defender is not yet ready for team training. Amorim's side are flying from Manchester to their base in Chicago, where they will play Bournemouth at Soldier Field on July 30 as part of the Premier League Summer Series. They start the pre-season tournament at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey – host of next year's World Cup final – against West Ham on Saturday evening local time. United finish their three-game trip against Everton at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Atlanta on August 3. Amorim's side welcome Fiorentina, including United great David De Gea, to Old Trafford for their final warm-up friendly on August 9 – the weekend before their Premier League opener at home to Arsenal.
