WWE champion's reign ends after 63-days on SmackDown before Night of Champions 2025
WWE Night of Champions is only a day away from emanating from the Kingdom Arena in the rich city of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. WWE built much hype for the Premium Live Event in the same venue by presenting the June 27th edition of Friday Night SmackDown. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now It featured three top title matches on the card. While two titles managed to stay with their respective titleholders, a major championship changed hands following a highly spectacular showdown that captivated the Riyadh audience. Which WWE Championship changed hands on SmackDown before Night of Champions 2025 Premium Live Event? On the June 27th edition of WWE SmackDown, Zelina Vega was scheduled to defend her WWE Women's United States Championship against Giulia. The international sensation had been having multiple encounters with Vega over the last few weeks since she was called up from WWE NXT. After Vega defeated Pipe Niven in a match with Giulia's help, she immediately turned on her and held the star-spangled prize high. This clearly hinted at her intentions, and the match was made official for SmackDown taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The duo clashed in an epic encounter that was a thrilling sight to witness. The Beautiful Madness unleashed her fury on the defending champion, who fought through it valiantly. From stunning drops to power-packed moves, Vega and Giulia stole the show. Towards the final moments of the title match, Giulia clearly had the upper hand, launching a pair of knee strikes. She put a conclusion to the bout by delivering a Northern Lights Bomb on Zelina Vega and pinned her shoulders to the mat for the three count. With that win, Giulia became the new WWE Women's United States Champion, marking her first singles title on the main roster. It was a sight of similar success being replicated by Giulia that she did when she arrived in NXT last year. While Zelina Vega did her best, her effort ultimately fell short at the hands of The Beautiful Madness. With Giulia winning her first major championship in WWE, it will be interesting to see her title reign on Friday Night SmackDown. Also read:

Exclusive: CM Punk to turn heel, beat John Cena for the Undisputed Championship at Night of Champions?
John Cena is set to defend the Undisputed Championship against CM Punk at Night of Champions this Saturday (June 28). The match, which is expected to headline the Premium Live Event, promises to be a slobberknocker as the two had a memorable feud over a decade ago. Things, however, are a bit different this time as 'The GOAT' is the heel and Punk is a face (good guy) heading into the show in Saudi Arabia. A veteran writer recently weighed in on the possible outcome of the match and said that 'The Second City Saint' should not only win the title but also embrace the dark side. Vince Russo wants CM Punk to win at Night of Champions Vince Russo is a popular name in the pro-wrestling business. The writer has been associated with companies such as WWE and WCW. In an interaction with Indiatimes, Russo said that he would love for Punk to turn heel on Cena at Night of Champions and walk away with the title. He added this will help WWE redeem themselves after 'they buried' Punk last week on SmackDown. 'If it were me---I'm turning Punk heel on Cena and putting the belt on him. I wouldn't have any other choice after they buried Punk on Smackdown by making him sell that table spot for 20 minutes,' he told Indiatimes. In case you did not know, Cena assaulted Punk on SmackDown last week and put him through a table. After this, he delivered a fiery promo in which he spewed venom on 'The Best in the World' and called him a hypocrite. The segment was similar to the 'pipebomb' Punk had delivered many years ago. About Cena's heel turn John Cena turned heel on Cody Rhodes at Elimination Chamber 2025. He then defeated him at WrestleMania 41 (with help from Travis Scott) to capture the Undisputed Championmship. He then defended it successfully against Randy Orton at Backlash 2025. Cena also beat Ron Killings/R-Truth at Saturday Night's Main Event. He, however, suffered a defeat at Money in the Bank where he and Logan Paul lost to Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso.

WWE Night of Champions 2025 predictions: Why CM Punk's efforts won't succeed in front of John Cena
Image Source: Getty CM Punk is set to battle John Cena for the last time in WWE . The WWE Universe has all eyes locked on the upcoming Premium Live Event, Night of Champions 2025, set to take place at the Kingdome Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The showdown to headline the spectacle will see CM Punk challenging John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship, which will be the final time these two iconic foes will clash in the ring. While Punk has major momentum heading into the match, there is a slim chance of him dethroning 'The Last Real Champion.' John Cena vs CM Punk is set to happen twelve years after their last WWE match After months of taking occasional shots at him, CM Punk finally confronted John Cena face-to-face on the RAW after Money in the Bank PLE. The duo had a heated exchange and agreed to one last showdown on Cena's farewell tour for the Undisputed WWE Championship. This will mark their first match since 2013 and the second time they will square off at the Night of Champions event, with their bout taking place in 2012. On that night, Punk was the defending champion, and the match ended in a draw. In light of recent events, it appears that the odds are in favor of The Unseen 17 retaining his championship reign. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo John Cena is also embroiled in a heated feud with Ron "The Truth" Killings, who has attacked him on more than one occasion. The sudden hatred of Truth for Cena can ultimately cost Punk his golden opportunity . The scenario can see Truth interfering in the match at Night of Champions 2025 and causing a disqualification. Punk would win the match, but not the title. Another instance can be seen in Cena utilizing the same cheap tactics he employed in his last title matches to defeat The Best in the World. It is widely expected that Cena will remain the Undisputed WWE Champion till the end of his farewell tour. All those signs point to the fact that CM Punk will not be able to defeat John Cena at Night of Champions. However, it would surely be a blockbuster match to witness at the Premium Live Event.
