Bengals to play QB Joe Burrow 'more than ever' in preseason

July 23 - Training camp plans call for no limits on Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, who has thrown a total of eight passes in preseason games the past four years. But limiting Burrow in July and August in recent years might have been a factor in the troubling trend of slow starts, head coach Zac Taylor explained on Wednesday, when he revealed the new approach with the franchise quarterback. "So he'll participate every single day like he like he normally would, fully healthy, and then anticipate playing him more in games than we ever have," Taylor said. Burrow is all for the expanded role in any on-field situation. "Coaches know how I've felt about that," Burrow said. "How I've always talked about how that would benefit me for sure. Other positions, I think you have to be careful because of how physical those positions are. But for me those reps are valuable." Not always avoidable, injuries are also a part of Burrow's story. He had a torn ACL (2020), dislocated finger (2021), calf strain (2023) and torn wrist ligament (2023) limit him in his first five seasons, part of the reason Taylor opted not to expose him much in preseason games. Burrow completed 5 of 7 passes in the 2024 preseason, his first game action in an exhibition game since 2021 when he threw an incompletion in his only attempt. Burrow said he gave up "an hour and a half or two in the sun" at home in the offseason at the request of Taylor and defensive coordinator Al Golden. Burrow said he led the defensive meeting. "It was a cutup. I'm not sure, maybe 50 to 70 (plays), something like that," said Burrow, downplaying his role in what Golden said was the highlight of the offseason for his defense. "I was just talking through what I'm seeing. What I'm looking at, certain coverages, who is giving it away. All that good stuff." One absentee on the field for the Bengals on Wednesday was defensive end Trey Hendrickson. Burrow said the business part can be "frustrating" but he remains in constant contact with him. "It's a cutthroat business," Borrow said. "You've got to fight for everything you can get. It's how it goes." --Field Level Media

What to know if you plan to attend the Denver Broncos training camp

Football season is just weeks away, with the Denver Broncos' first preseason game on Saturday, Aug. 9. Training camp, which is open to the public but requires tickets, starts on Friday. The Broncos' game schedule was released in May, but before the season starts, the team will start preparing at training camp. Here's everything you need to know about this year's camp. A total of 13 training camp practices are planned this year. They'll run from July 25 through Aug. 5 and then pick up again Aug. 12, culminating with a joint practice with the Arizona Cardinals on Aug. 14. Practice starts at 10 a.m. each day, and the gates to the park open at 8 a.m. Practice runs approximately two hours each day. It's held at Broncos Park, 13655 E. Broncos Pkwy., in Englewood. You'll need tickets to get in. This year, due to construction of the team's new training facility, fans will be viewing the practices from temporary bleacher seating. These will be located on the south end of the practice fields. The number of fans at camp this year will be capped at 800 per practice. Anything brought in must fit in your pockets or be in an approved bag, in line with the Broncos' stadium bag policy, which includes a clear plastic bag no larger than 12" x 6" x 12", a 1-gallon clear resealable bag like a Ziploc, or a small clutch bag or purse, no larger than 4.5" x 6.5". Sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, a portable phone charger, and comfortable shoes are also recommended. Small cameras and small binoculars are allowed, but only if carried in on their own or in an approved clear bag. Seat pads can also be brought along, as long as they're 18 inches wide or smaller and don't contain pockets, zippers, or concealable areas. Everyone will have to go through a walk-through metal detector. Fans will be provided with a water bottle. No food is allowed. Here's what you're not allowed to bring: Parking at Dove Valley Regional Park, 7900 S. Potomac St. Rd., in Centennial, is free, but spots are limited, so attendees are encouraged to use public transit, rideshare apps like Uber and Lyft, or walk or bike if you're close enough. Players sign autographs after practice, and there will be "Kid Zone" wristbands for anyone 5 to 15 years old. The first 30 fans with Ford key fobs also get early access at the gates and front row seats with swag. The Broncos say tickets are sold out as of Monday, but ticket-holders can return tickets they have as late as 30 minutes after the start of the practice day they have tickets for, so stock might increase if people return theirs. If you don't have tickets but want to attend, check the available stock on Ticketmaster. The tickets can't be resold, but those that are returned will be made available again on Ticketmaster by the Broncos. For more information, click here. Where does Texas A&M softball rank in the SEC preseason poll?

Where does Texas A&M softball rank in the SEC preseason poll? Texas A&M softball has been making waves since head coach Trisha Ford took over in 2023. She was seventh to third in the conference and gave the Texas Longhorns a run for their money in the NCAA Super Regional last season. The 2025 expectations for the Aggies are legitimate this season. Despite losing some of their seasoned players, they are an even more complete team this year. Coach Ford hit the portal and brought in power hitter Mac Barbara, along with pitchers Sidne Peters and Grace Sparks, to help shore up the pitching depth behind All-American Emiley Kennedy. The talent will not be lacking, with Kennedy, Barbara, and Koko Wooley all being named to the Preseason All-SEC Team, and by the end of the season, I'm betting a few more Aggies will be up for All-SEC consideration. There is no denying that the SEC is the top dog in softball, especially with the addition of Texas and Oklahoma, who played in the Women's College World Series last season. So, the path is going to be a rough one and the initial rankings can be taken with a grain of salt, but it shows what the voters think of the teams based on the current rosters. Below are the preseason SEC softball rankings: The softball team will start the season with a doubleheader on February 6 against Utah State and Purdue at Davis Diamond.
